**What you'll do:**
Eaton is currently seeking a Senior Analyst- Engineering Finance to join our team. This position is based at our Galesburg, MI location. Flexible hybrid work schedule available from Galesburg, MI.
The Senior Analyst - Engineering Finance will be a critical to Eaton's focus on managing and optimizing a global engineering investment portfolio. This role will support the project costing processes on an engineering portfolio of around 1B. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, managing the setup and maintenance of project information within the Project Accounting system; ensuring that accurate project codes, task setups, and billing cost centers are in place; validating employee information in the timekeeping system; and ensuring proper labor vouchering processes. The Senior Analyst - Engineering Finance will partner with engineering, program management, IT, and finance teams within the divisions to ensure costs are accurately coded and accumulated on engineering initiatives. Job Responsibilities:
- Project Accounting: Help develop and execute the processes across Eaton to cost engineering labor and expenditures to projects. Work collaboratively with engineering finance leaders to ensure the proper recording of actuals against projects. Oversee the financial attributes of key systems involved in recording costs to projects.
- Project Setup: Initiate and maintain project names, codes, and project header information in the Project Accounting system. Validate that projects are assigned to the correct financial classifications. Ensure that projects are closed in a timely manner.
- Data Management: Manage the employee and contractor records in the engineering timekeeping system, including names, e-numbers, ledgers, activity centers, and approval groups, to ensure the accurate costing of engineering labor.
- Project Labor Costing: Oversee labor costing processes, including assigning rates to resources and updating rate tables in the Project Accounting system.
- Compliance: Ensure the system meets compliance requirements, including auditing logs for time entry exceptions, reviewing timecard entry compliance, reviewing manager approvals, and adherence to government accounting requirements.
- Project Reporting: Provide project based reporting to project owners including project spend and applied hours metrics.
- Financial Planning & Analysis: Support engineering project planning processes in the ProPM project portfolio management tool (Clarity) including resource planning, labor rate management, and project costing.
- Works in a team environment to drive improvement in financial processes through tools/systems, automation, and standardization. Cross-train with other analysts to build skills and experience across the enterprise engineering finance team.
**Qualifications:**
Required (Basic) Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree from an accredited institution required.
- Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience required.

+ Learn the product's intended use and clinical procedures.
+ With supervision, create or refine engineering documentation, such as the Design History file per company design control procedures.
+ Learn R&D procedures like design controls and risk management, per the Quality Management System.
+ Work cooperatively with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Regulatory, Clinical, Marketing and Project Management to ensure project success and contribute to the project as a team member.
**Electrical Engineering Majors:**
+ Support creation of embedded systems requirements/architecture for new products leading to engineering PCB assembly board-spins/bring-ups and finally to a finished product.
+ Through design process, will complete analysis for electromagnetic compliance (EMC), reliability, safety, cost, and design for manufacturing/assembly/test.
+ Work with multiple technologies including voltage regulators, mixed analog/digital circuits, embedded microcontrollers/microprocessors, FPGA's, motor controllers and sensors.
+ Occasionally debug hardware using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and other hardware tools.
**Software Engineering/Computer Science Majors:**
+ Support development of procedures and scripts for requirements-based testing of medical devices in accordance with internal software development lifecycle requirements in compliance with FDA software development guidance.
+ Supports the research and design of machine learning frameworks and programs capable of adapting to the environment and data collected to produce intelligent outputs.
+ Supports the design and testing of system applications and user interfaces.
**Mechanical Engineering Majors:**
+ Under supervision, design, develop, modify, and verify mechanical components for medical devices.
+ Assist with prototyping and bench testing.
+ Support problem solving, root cause analysis, identify potential solutions, and evaluate them against requirements.
+ Under supervision, conduct research and studies to support product design.
What You Need
+ Currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related at Kettering University
+ Cumulative 3.0 GPA or above; must be the case at the date of hire and also will be verified during background check
+ Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. and not require employment-based sponsorship now or in the future
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills
+ Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills; able to manage priorities and workflow
+ Proficient on basic computer programs: Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint
+ Strong interpersonal skills
+ Electrical Engineering majors: Basic knowledge in electrical engineering (e.g. circuit design and analysis, benchtop testing methods, debugging skills, technical writing skills, etc)
+ Software Engineering/Computer Science majors: Preferred knowledge in Matlab, C/C++/Phython, and interest in software testing
+ Mechanical Engineering majors: Basic knowledge in 3D modeling software programs
