The Engineering Intern will perform duties related to improving the performance of the Coated Abrasives Division of Saint-Gobain Abrasives, Inc. through evaluation of the manufacturing environment and the development and implementation of process improvements that result in improvements in productivity, quality, waste, safety, and throughput.
**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:**

The Engineering Technician supports the Engineering department and production by creating and maintaining product specifications, bills of material, product change notifications and deviations. Responsible for developing and resolving technical problems in production, engineering, facilities and maintenance as it pertains to operational issues. Assist and support the operation of all equipment and processes within the facility, which includes facilities equipment, production equipment or engineering development / installation / repair of all equipment for production, facilities and maintenance of the plant. The successful candidate will lead complex projects, mentor junior engineers, and drive innovation in power electronics and distribution. You will be responsible for all phases of the design lifecycle, from conceptualization and schematic capture to simulation, prototyping, and final testing. This position requires a deep understanding of power engineering principles, including AC/DC conversion, grid integration, battery management systems, and high-voltage applications. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in circuit design, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), and thermal management. You will work with state-of-the-art simulation tools and laboratory equipment, ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and safety of our power solutions. Collaboration with cross-functional teams, including mechanical, software, and manufacturing engineers, will be essential. Responsibilities include:

• Leading the design and development of complex electrical power systems from concept to production.
• Performing detailed circuit analysis, simulations (e.g., SPICE, ANSYS), and worst-case analysis.
• Developing technical specifications, schematics, and Bill of Materials (BOMs).
• Overseeing PCB layout design and review to ensure signal integrity and EMC compliance.
• Conducting component selection and qualification for power electronics applications.
• Developing and executing comprehensive test plans for verification and validation.
• Troubleshooting and resolving design issues during development and production.
• Mentoring and guiding a team of electrical engineers.
• Staying current with emerging technologies and industry best practices in power engineering.
• Collaborating with manufacturing teams to ensure design for manufacturability and yield.
• Contributing to strategic planning for future power system architectures.
• Managing project timelines and deliverables for electrical engineering tasks.

Qualifications:

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field; Ph.D. preferred.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in electrical power systems design.
• Proven leadership experience in managing engineering projects and teams.
• Expertise in power electronics topologies, control systems, and semiconductor devices.
• Proficiency in schematic capture and PCB design tools (e.g., Altium Designer, Cadence).
• Strong understanding of simulation tools for circuit and system-level analysis.
• Experience with high-voltage systems and grid-tied power conversion is a plus.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
• Familiarity with safety standards and certifications (e.g., UL, CE).
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative engineering environment.
