The Grainger College of Engineering seeks applicants for a Coordinator, Engineering Career Services position. This position delivers career and professional development support to undergraduate and graduate students in the Grainger College of Engineering. Responsibilities include delivering career coaching through one-on-one appointments, group presentations, and student programming. They support student-to-career integration by incorporating career education into classes, student organizations, and college-wide events. Additionally, they facilitate communication with recruiters and employers interested in hiring Grainger Engineering students, providing recruiting strategies and opportunities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Career Coaching & Education
- Coach students in the Grainger College of Engineering on career-driven topics such as career preparation/readiness skills, search strategies, resumes/cover letters, interviewing, social media and networking optimization, job offers, and negotiations.
- Conduct resume critiques and practice interviews.
- Mentor students on identifying and developing their professional skills through class projects, student organizations involvement, leadership roles, and other involvement.
- Educate students on professional work opportunities and employment trends.
- Utilize and support career-related technologies and tools.
- Support the expansion of Engineering Career Services (ECS) reach and foster ongoing academic and career collaboration with key departmental liaisons and advisors.
- Assist with embedding peer advising within departments.
- Support the delivery of the "Resume Labs" series, a peer-led weekend offering for students to update collateral materials, practice interviewing, and receive peer mentoring on career development and search strategies.
- Participate in planned college-wide events (e.g., Commencement, Engineering Open House, Choose/Explore Grainger), including evenings and weekends as needed.
- Serve as point of contact for designated employers. Respond to inquiries from employers regarding recruiting Grainger Engineering students. Guide employers on the use of career management platforms for posting jobs, events, and other student engagement opportunities.
- Consult with employers on best practices tailored to their specific talent needs. Share event information and recruiting resources.
- Identify employer needs and facilitate introductions to appropriate student groups, departments, corporate relations contacts, and campus partners.
- Collaborate with teammates in ECS on career events, projects, and publications for students and employers. This includes career fairs, meetings, receptions, resources, and speaker programs.
- Collect and maintain student records, including meetings and student progress, as well as internship and full-time employment data.
- Assist with designated administrative processes (e.g., respond to student emails and voicemails, Handshake, Marketing and Communication).
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- A total of two (2) years (24 months) in education, training, and/or work experience in recruiting, Human Resources, career services, and/or academic advising.

APPOINTMENT INFORMATION
This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 5002 - Program Coordinator position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the closing date. The budgeted salary range for this position is $57,000 - $59,000. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, while also considering internal equity. This position will be expected to work at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign campus on a full-time basis per the University's Workplace Flexibility policy. Responsibilities of Position
The Engineering Technician II is part of a team dedicated to ensuring the protection and preservation of City infrastructure through the administration of the City's construction permit program. They perform a combination of administrative work in the office and inspection work in the field. They review plans, specifications, and permit applications for work in the ROW, driveways, sidewalks, and other areas covered by construction permits for completeness and compliance with applicable codes and other regulatory requirements. They calculate, assess, and collect permit and other required fees. They perform scheduled and unscheduled site checks and inspections, document non-compliance, and work with permittees to achieve compliance. The Engineering Technician II provides internal and external customer service and assistance, maintains paper and electronic records/files, and prepares a variety of scheduled and ad-hoc activity and progress reports. Required Qualifications
• Associate or technical degree in Construction, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
• Practical work experience in roadway construction and maintenance, ROW maintenance, pipeline maintenance, or construction site monitoring or inspections.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities will be considered.

HEALTH INSURANCE
The City of Champaign offers a robust PPO Select Network plan through Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois.
The City of Champaign pays up to 606 of the employee (single) health insurance premium. Premiums for single employee coverage in excess of 606 per month are shared by the employee and the City. Dependent coverage is the amount in addition to the employee premium. The City pays 50 percent of the premium for dependent(s) for regular full-time employees. Premiums may be made on a pre-tax basis, through the City's Section 125 plan. Health insurance coverage begins on the date of hire and ends on the employee's last day of work at the City.

DENTAL AND VISION INSURANCE
Employees may purchase dental and/or vision insurance through payroll deduction. Employees pay 100 percent of the monthly premium for this coverage. LIFE INSURANCE
The City provides a 17,000 term life insurance policy for continuous full-time Plumbers employees through The Hartford. Premiums are paid by the City. Employees may elect to purchase voluntary supplemental life insurance for themselves up to 5x their annual salary or 500,000 (whichever is lower), through payroll deduction. Employees may also purchase term life for their spouses/dependents.
• Employee voluntary supplemental life insurance coverage can be purchased in $1 ,000 increments and the price is calculated based on the employee's age.
• Employees may purchase voluntary supplemental life insurance for their spouses up to half the amount purchased for themselves in $5 000 increments. Cost is calculated based on the employee's age.

At the beginning of each fiscal year, continuous full-time employees are credited with three personal days (24 hours); personal days are pro-rated for continuous part-time employees. PENSION
Illinois state law requires that eligible municipal employees be covered by the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF). LONGEVITY PAY

RESIDENCY INCENTIVE REIMBURSEMENT

- Recent experience managing transportation road, highway, bridge and/or transit design projects, ideally for various clients within our current TNG portfolio.
- Strong Project Management experience including: the development of scope, schedule, and budget, and the subsequent monitoring of cost and schedule.
- Previous experience managing a team of Project Managers.
- Business development skills and experience such as client service and proposal preparation.
- Leadership skills to drive a culture that emphasizes profitability, quality deliverables, and legendary client service.
- Current PM certification (either PMP, CCM or DBIA), or the ability to acquire said certification within 12 months of hire.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.

$246,043
**Additional Compensation:**
All bonuses at CDM Smith are discretionary and may or may not apply to this position.
