Responsibilities

The Engineering Manager will be responsible to supervise the day-to-day repairs and maintenance for meeting rooms, restaurants and public spaces. Recommend and implement procedural changes. Monitor and control expenses.

Examples of duties includes but is not limited to the following:

  • Supervise the Engineering employees and Supervisors; interview, schedule, train, develop, coach and counsel, provide open communications, make recommendations to performance reviews.
  • Prioritize service requests; schedule and monitor the service performed to ensure customer satisfaction, safety and convenience for meeting rooms, restaurants, aquatic facility and public spaces.
  • Test and examine the life safety systems to ensure they are 100% operational at all times to protect the asset, guests and employees.
  • Monitor utility consumption to determine the effectiveness of current systems.
  • Review purchase requests by engineering general storage room and monitor expenses to ensure budgeted goals are met/exceeded.
  • Assist in the administration of the department by preparing and maintaining schedules, logs, records or other documentation to ensure a smooth operation and minimize liabilities.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Requires advanced knowledge of the Building Management/Engineering profession. This includes experiential knowledge required for management of people and complex problems.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, Leaders, and vendors.
  • Minimum of five years relevant experience preferred. Minimum of two years supervisory experience preferred.
  • High school education or equivalent.

POSITION SCOPE AND ORGANIZATIONAL IMPACT

Moss' Manager, Engineering will oversee a regional team in the development and execution of designing utility-scale solar projects. This role requires a strong background in solar EPC, with exposure to all engineering disciplines, including mechanical, civil, electrical, SCADA, structural, and performance modeling, as well as engineering management - contracting, construction, and internal and external partner management.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee a multidisciplinary engineering team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture

  • Manage and develop a team of Engineering Leads and Project Engineers supporting utility-scale PV projects, including resource planning, workload balancing, and performance reviews. Support the development and execution of team development plans, providing mentorship and training to enhance technical knowledge, leadership skills, and ownership among team members

  • Ensure proper mentorship of junior engineers to ensure consistent application of technical guidelines, design optimization techniques, compliance processes and Moss standards

  • Foster and promote culture driven by core values of honor relationships, entrepreneurial spirit, and contagious energy within the team

  • Support the Senior Engineering Manager in continuous process improvement initiatives improving engineering efficiency, design standardization, and process automation. Gain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, product innovations, and regulatory changes affecting solar and energy storage systems

  • Accountable for team adherence of quality assurance processes and engineering best practices to ensure high-quality project engineering execution. Support Field Operations to ensure project engineering deliverables are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest construction standards

  • Provide final review of EOR subcontracts and change orders, ensuring compliance with project requirements and budget

  • Support Preconstruction teams in Owner contract negotiations

  • Assist the Senior Engineering Manager in updating project engineering timelines to help forecast resources for new projects and facilitate balanced workload within the team

  • Establish and maintain core relationships with internal and external stakeholders

  • Accountable for ensuring effective communication in weekly coordination calls between EORs and owners, reviewing RFIs and engineering deliverable schedule shifts, submittals, and addressing design clarification through construction and the project lifecycle as needed. Assist Schedule Manager in creating and updating project engineering deliverable dates on a weekly basis or as needed

  • Serve as the engineering point of contact for clients, utilities, independent engineers (IEs), and permitting agencies as needed

  • Address project-level escalations between EORs, Project Management, Owners and AHJs promptly and effectively, providing solutions to technical challenges

  • Interface with clients to provide updates, address concerns, and ensure client satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle

  • Represent the engineering team in project meetings, client presentations, utility interconnection discussions, and permitting hearings as needed

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction management

  • Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in the utility-scale solar EPC industry

  • Familiarity of NEC codes, ASCE standards, and local regulations

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet critical deadlines

  • Proficiency in Autodesk AutoCAD and Autodesk Civil 3D - not required but a plus

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams

NATURE OF WORK

This classification involves providing office and technical support for the engineering staff of the assigned department for the City. An employee in this position performs a variety of duties based on assignment such as: entering data; assisting in permitting; calculating rates; researching records; working on bids; processing purchase orders, invoices, and payments; visiting project sites; maintain records; providing reports; renewing licenses; and responding to inquiries for information. This position also assists with assigned programs, prepares letters, sorts mails, and assists with other clerical tasks.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Participates in the maintenance of department engineering records and reports; files and retrieves material; maintains records; and posts data to records.

Annual Leave:

Annual Leave Cash Out:
Employee can opt to receive a non-pensionable cash payment twice per year for up to forty (40) hours of annual leave, provided accrued annual leave bank does not fall below eighty (80) hours.

Floating Holidays:
Upon completion of (26) weeks of full-time employment with the City, employee shall be entitled to utilize up to five (5) floating holidays per fiscal year. Floating holidays shall not carry over to the next fiscal year.
Perfect Attendance:
For every six (6) months period (April 1 - September 30) and (October 1 - March 31) in which, no sick or unpaid leave is utilized, an employee shall receive ten (10) hours of annual leave credited. Employees who qualify for a consecutive Perfect Attendance benefit shall receive fourteen (14) hours of annual leave credited for each applicable consecutive earning period.

Sick Leave:
Each employee earns (96) hours (12 days) of sick leave annually with no waiting period for use and unlimited accrual. Upon separation of City employment due to resignation, employee shall receive payment of all accrued sick leave at a rate of twenty-five percent (25%) of the employee's current rate of pay at time of resignation. Upon separation of employment due to retirement, employee shall receive payment of all accrued sick leave at a rate of fifty percent (50%) of the employee's current rate of pay at the time of retirement.

Sick Leave Conversion:
After completion of one (1) year of continuous, full-time employment with the City, an employee may convert their unused portion of their first six (6) days (maximum of forty-eight (48) hours) of accrued sick leave into annual leave. Conversions are subject to the following: A minimum of 96 unused sick leave hours accrued prior to hours being converted, total eligible sick leave hours to be converted shall be reduced hour-for-hour by any sick leave hours utilized during the eligible benefit period, and conversion subject to annual leave accrual cap.

Bereavement:
Qualifying City-paid Bereavement Leave as follows:
• In State = Up to 3 Days
• Out of State = Up to 5 Days

Tuition Reimbursement:
After one (1) year of full-time employment
• 100% reimbursement for a grade of A or B
• 50% reimbursement for a grade of C

Director Of Engineering

Oversees programs involving electrical, mechanical and general construction, repair and maintenance of existing facilities and equipment, operation of plant utilities. Conducts walk-throughs to visually and physically assess the safe and efficient maintenance and operation of the physical structure of hotel, all mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems, and any other related equipment. Assigns and verifies completion of routine maintenance and operation of physical structure of the resort, all mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems and any other related equipment which contributes to the safe and effective operation of the facility. Visually inspects quality of work and directs staff and outside contractors in tasks according to performance and productivity standards. Hires, trains, supervises, allocates personnel, communicates departmental/individual job goals and criteria's of job performance, appraises, and if necessary disciplines department staff and all other staff under the direction of Property Operations, such as Painters, Carpenters, Plumbers, and Grounds Keepers, etc. Informs General Manager and resort department heads, on a regular basis, regarding the specific and overall condition of the building structure(s), related systems and equipment offering prudent and cost-effective proposals for maintaining the same. Accesses and inputs information into a computer and generate reports. Communicates effectively with city/county officials to ensure proper maintenance of permits and licenses, coordinating inspections with the appropriate department. Maintains and documents effective Energy Management and Preventive Maintenance programs. Acts as a liaison between resort and vendors to review latest in resort and hotel technology products. Adheres to all Corporate required budgets, purchasing policies and controls, to include all outside contractor bids, and schedules.

In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the particular requirements of the company. Maintains appropriate supply of materials and equipment to carry out the normal day to day operating and maintenance requirements of the resort. Maintains organized and efficient administrative and filing systems within Property Operations for the timely and accurate handling of correspondence, reports, requisitions for purchase and other administrative requirements of the department. Maintains a well-defined and organized system within the shop for inventory, maintenance and storage of all tolls, products, materials and equipment necessary to execute the required activities of the department. Immediately available to report to the resort in the event of any resort emergency which necessitates the skills and expertise of this position. Perform all duties in the area of responsibility and technical capabilities as required by management. Due to the nature of business, this position maybe required to do other duties and special projects assigned by the supervisor/manager.
