We are seeking a detail-oriented Fiber Optic Technician responsible for assembling one-channel fiber optic components, performing mechanical assembly of sub-assemblies and main assemblies, and working under a microscope to assemble and clean small parts. The ideal candidate will be organized and able to interpret assembly drawings and schematics.
**Responsibilities**
+ Assemble one-channel fiber optic components.
+ Perform mechanical assembly of sub-assemblies and main assemblies.
+ Work under a microscope to assemble and clean small parts.
+ Interpret and follow assembly drawings and schematics.
+ Maintain organization and follow instructions accurately.
**Essential Skills**
+ Experience in assembly, blueprint reading, fiber optic, electronic assembly, and electrical assembly.
+ Proficiency in working with a microscope.
+ Hand dexterity and ability to use hand tools.
+ Attention to detail and ability to read measurements.
+ Knowledge of hand tools, micrometers, calipers, wiring, and splicing.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
+ 2+ years of soldering experience (nice to have).
+ Experience in the electronics, manufacturing, or assembly industry.
+ Experience with measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers is a plus.
+ Familiarity with ISO/AS quality systems is advantageous.
+ IPC 610 and/or 620 and J Standard Certification is a plus.
+ High school diploma or GED is required.

**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.

What You'll Be Doing
+ Work alongside full-time team members in commercial and OSP environments.
+ Start your day with a team meeting (6:30-7:00 AM) to review project scope and goals.
+ Travel to job sites in company vehicles and work 5-10 hours of overtime weekly.
+ Perform hands-on tasks including:
+ Fiber prep, splicing, and troubleshooting
+ + Testing with OTDR and other fiber test equipment
+ ? Installing cable pathways, trays, and terminations
+ Fusion splicing, pigtail splicing, and connector installation
+ Ring/hot cuts and fiber closure installations
+ ? Bonding and grounding fiber cables per client specs
Top Skills & Experience
+ ? Expert-level proficiency in fiber optic splicing, testing, and troubleshooting.
+ ? Experience with OTDR operation and trace analysis.
+ ? Familiarity with Corning Fusion Splicers (M-90, X-77, I-LID, Opti-Splice).
+ ? Ability to install cable in aerial, underground, and inside plant environments.
+ ? Strong understanding of structured cabling and low voltage systems.
+ ? BICSI certification is a plus.

+ Ability to read blueprints and follow project plans.

- Proficient in using fiber optic splicing and testing equipment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working as part of a team.
- Ability to work in various outdoor environments and conditions, and to perform physically demanding tasks.
