Description
A large healthcare system in Hudson County, NJ is currently seeking a Controller to join their group on a contract to full-time basis. The Controller will take lead on preparing financials, budgets, and reporting for multiple entities, conducting variance analysis, directing meetings with management to discuss material variances, facilitating audits (financial statement reviews, IRS, Sales/Use Tax), preparing workpapers, maintaining covenant calculations and ensuring all policies and procedures are followed. The ideal Controller will have recent experience working within the healthcare and/or hospital sector, will possess impeccable communication skills, and will be able to exhibit strong prioritization skills to improve processes. Prior experience working in the non-profit sector is desirable. This role will require a daily on-site presence.

Specific responsibilities include:

Develop and implement financial strategies that support the organizations mission and goals.

Qualifications

The Finance Manager will have at least four years of professional experience, preferably managing the finance and bookkeeping of nonprofit corporations receiving significant public funds and funding from diverse sources. The successful candidate will have experience creating and driving the policies and procedures necessary for managing organizational change in a highly entrepreneurial and fast growing company.

The successful candidate will have the following experience and attributes:

? Bachelors degree (MA/MBA preferred) in Accounting, Business, Management, or Finance (CPA a plus)

? Excellent people skills, with experience collaborating in a multidisciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team

? Demonstrated experience in financial management and accounting, ideally in the nonprofit sector

? Experience should include audit, compliance, budgeting, resource development, and forecasting - inclusive of government funding and Medicaid reimbursement

? Demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities and proposing new ways of creating efficiencies

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and drive improvements to financial planning and forecasting

Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, applied mathematics, economics, or other business major is required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Advanced degree (i.e. MBA, MS) is preferred.
  • 7-10+ year(s) of experience in a general finance, FP&A, corporate development, investment banking, private equity, or similar roles

Mavens strategic finance function has broad exposure across the business and shapes strategic and tactical decisions through data-driven insights. As a Strategic Finance Manager at Maven, you will:

  • Become an expert on the underlying data architecture supporting Maven's revenue forecasting and identify ways to automate and optimize our models
  • Manipulate large datasets, create new analytical frameworks, and develop actionable insights using SQL to synthesize complex financial information
  • Create new models to evaluate revenue performance on an ongoing basis
  • Bring together insights and data from across the company into a single, synthesized view that provides the company with clear, compelling recommendations that drive impact
  • Support decision making for Executives and senior leadership teams by arranging complex models and highlighting key drivers and assumptions
  • Work with functional leaders to develop department-level KPIs; leverage data to proactively identify opportunities for improvement

Were looking for you to bring:

  • 4-6 years of experience in investment banking, consulting, business operations, or as a financial manager at a fast-paced, high-growth startup
  • Intermediate to advanced experience with SQL scripting and data visualization tools (e.g. Looker) to turn data into insights
  • Strong analytical mindset with expert financial modeling skills and ability to effectively translate data into actionable insights, strategies, and financial plans

For candidates in NYC, CO, or CA, the base salary range for this role is $36K- 145k per year. You will also be entitled to stock options and benefits. Individual pay decisions are based on a number of factors, including qualifications for the role, experience level, and skillset.

Our teams primarily operate from the New York Metropolitan area, NY, San Francisco/Bay Area, CA, Seattle, WA, Boston, MA, Chicago, IL, and Washington, D.C. This role is exclusively open to candidates in these locations. For those in our New York City office, we encourage in-person collaboration by requiring team members to work onsite three days a week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday).
