JOB SUMMARY
The Telemetry Technician is responsible for the continuous monitoring, interpretation, communication and documentation of cardiac rhythms, rhythm components and telemetry indicators for multiple patients. The individual will view multiple patients' electrocardiographic displays to monitor noninvasive cardiac activity of patients and notify appropriate healthcare personnel on variances in the electrocardiographic pattern. These monitoring requirements will apply to Marshfield Medical Center patients at remote facilities across the system. The Telemetry Technician is responsible for collaboration with clinical staff in order to establish appropriate communication with each site. The Telemetry Technician will be responsible for troubleshooting routine technical concerns with equipment and notifying biomedical equipment individuals for non-basic repairs.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.
Minimum Required: High school diploma or equivalent. Successful completion of the Electrocardiogram (ECG) course within three months of hire or a score of 85% or greater on the ECG challenge exam.
Preferred/Optional: Completion of Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or First Responder courses.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum Required: None
Preferred/Optional: One year experience as a Telemetry/Monitor Technician. One year experience with direct patient care.

The individual will verbally redirect the patient, alert nursing staff; activate alarms and use of overhead paging. The Patient Monitor/Video Technician works under the direction of lead staff and/or management to provide a safe environment for our patient and staff. Video will contact nursing staff if the patient requires assistance or serves as a threat to themselves or other staff members.

**EDUCATION**
_For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation._
**Minimum Required:** Must be 18 years of age.
**Preferred/Optional:** High school diploma or equivalent
**EXPERIENCE**
**Minimum Required:** Demonstrated proficiency with verbal communication skills and prioritizing simultaneous situations. Demonstrated proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to perform physical requirements of the position.
**Preferred/Optional:** Experience providing direct patient care in a hospital setting. Experience working as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Medical Assistant (MA). Minimum of 3 months of medical/hospital background experience.
**CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES**

**Minimum Required:** Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) within three months of hire.
**Preferred/Optional:** Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) at time of hire.
