Position Summary:
The Senior Fund Accountant / Accounting Manager will be responsible for maintaining the books, records, and reporting for the ownership entities of a multi-fund investment platform. This includes accounting for investments in the firm's funds as well as activity across related corporate and partnership entities. The role will evolve to include accounting and reporting for additional funds and affiliated real estate entities.
This position reports directly to the Head of Accounting and offers the opportunity to take ownership of the accounting function for complex investment structures while improving internal processes and systems.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Record journal entries related to banking, loan, and fund transactions.
+ Process bank transfers and wire payments accurately and in a timely manner.
+ Redesign and enhance the accounting and reporting process, including:
+ Implementing a new accounting system and chart of accounts.
+ Developing comprehensive workpapers for both current and historical transactions.
+ Create efficient workflows for capital calls, distributions, and investor notices.
+ Prepare quarterly financial statements and capital account summaries.
+ Lead annual audits and ensure compliance with consolidation and reporting standards.
+ Review and interpret legal agreements to identify accounting and cash flow implications.
+ Assist with ad hoc projects and provide support for evolving business needs.
Requirements
Qualifications:
+ Minimum of 5 years of experience in fund accounting; private equity or alternative investment experience preferred.
+ Background in corporate or real estate accounting is advantageous.
+ Hands-on experience maintaining accounting records; audit experience will also be considered.
+ Strong understanding of consolidation accounting and intercompany structures.
+ Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills.
+ Demonstrated ability to design and implement process improvements.
+ Skilled in analyzing complex legal and financial documentation.
+ Highly motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently.
+ Exceptional organizational and problem-solving skills.

**Responsibilities:**
+ Manage a team of professionals to accomplish established goals and conduct personnel duties for team (e.g. performance evaluations, hiring and disciplinary actions) as well as support mechanism for achievement including SMART goal setting

+ Support development and achievement of strategic goals and annual performance/compensation cycle as well as implement methods to reduce expenses, recommend enhancements, and justify benefits

Your day-to-day may include:
+ Manage the day-to-day accounting operations for multiple private funds, including complex fund structures with tiered ownership and waterfall calculations.
+ Review and approve quarterly and annual GAAP-compliant financial statements, capital account statements, and supporting schedules.
+ Oversee capital call and distribution processes, ensuring accurate allocation of cash flows and timely investor communication.
+ Maintain and reconcile investor capital accounts, including tracking commitments, contributions, preferred returns, and carried interest.
+ Collaborate with external auditors and tax advisors to support year-end audits and K-1 preparation.
+ Lead and mentor a team of fund accountants, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback.
+ Implement and enhance automated reporting tools and workflows to improve efficiency and accuracy.
+ Analyze fund performance metrics and provide insights to senior leadership for strategic decision-making.
+ Responsible for the month-end and quarterly NAV, including the pricing, financial reporting, and accounting of the Fund
+ Manage and account for purchase and sales transactions through their life cycles
+ Analytically review monthly/quarterly investment and fund performance data to measure historical performance to forecast future fund performance
+ Produce cash flow, total rate of return and profitability analysis to support portfolio managers
+ Prepare and monitor covenants and report to management on overall debt position
+ Track tax strategies and ensure appropriate application within the fund and its investments
+ Maintain an excellent and collaborative relationship with internal and external partners
+ Meet or exceed targeted billing hours (utilization)
+ Other duties as assigned
You have the following technical skills or qualifications:
+ Bachelor's degree in Accounting required
+ Minimum 5 years of experience in fund accounting, with a strong focus on private equity or alternative investments.
+ Thorough experience with complex investment and fund structures (master funds, blocker and standalone entities, feeder funds, liquidated funds, and newly commenced funds)
+ Prior experience in a public accounting firm (Big 4 or similar) and/or fund administrator is a plus
+ CPA required
+ Proficiency in fund accounting systems such as Investran, Allvue, Geneva, OneSource, DFIN Arc Reporting, etc.
+ Experience working with Fund Portfolio Managers and Controllers
+ Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
+ Ability to work additional hours and/or travel as needed
The base salary for this position in our New York City (Manhattan Office) only is $121,000 to $81,400.

Responsibilities:
- Analyze and validate automated system reports to ensure accurate performance data.
- Manage fund administrators to guarantee timely financial closes and precise reporting.
- Provide critical financial data to portfolio managers and investor relations teams on both scheduled and ad-hoc bases.
- Review and approve fund accounting activities, including subscriptions, redemptions, money movements, P& L allocations, journal entries, monthly closes, and reconciliations.
- Supervise daily fund NAV monitoring and perform end-of-day reconciliations to support portfolio management decisions.
- Prepare comprehensive daily and monthly performance reports, incorporating calculations and statistics across various funds and fee structures.
- Collaborate with Investor Relations and Compliance teams to ensure all reports meet internal and external standards.
- Identify opportunities for process enhancements to improve operational efficiency and reporting accuracy. Requirements - Strong expertise in month-end close processes and general ledger management.
- Proficiency in preparing and auditing financial statements.
- Solid experience with account reconciliation and journal entries.
- Familiarity with fund accounting operations, including complex P& L allocations and NAV calculations.
- Advanced analytical skills and attention to detail in reviewing financial data.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including investor relations and compliance.

**Responsibilities:**
+ Manage a team of professionals to accomplish established goals and conduct personnel duties for team (e.g. performance evaluations, hiring and disciplinary actions)
+ Identify opportunities to implement process improvements and recommend system, service, and process enhancements including leading and evaluating system testing
+ Coordinate staff assignments to achieve optimal effectiveness through assessment of business requirements and staff skill sets and development needs
+ Build and maintain relationships with internal and external clients, and serve as point of escalation of complex customer issues
+ Perform discovery and due diligence with clients and visits regarding service quality measurement
+ Manage the Risk and Control agenda including audits, interfacing with internal and external auditors, and identifying process gaps
+ Work closely with senior management on identifying opportunities for cost saves, full-time equivalent (FTE) reduction, and optimization
+ Work closely with Sales and CEs on client management and service improvement initiatives
+ Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.
**Qualifications:**
+ 6-10 years of relevant experience
+ Experience in fund accounting operations preferred
+ Experience in accounting within financial services, strategic management, resource/expense management, and managing client relationships
+ Experience in managing operational delivery
+ Extensive knowledge of funds services and process
+ Demonstrated leadership and management skills
+ Ability to work in a team-oriented environment
+ Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication
+ Demonstrated Subject Matter Expert (SME) knowledge in related area
**Education:**
+ Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience
+ Master's degree preferred
