The Department of Computer Science at UCCS has excelled in preparing undergraduates for careers in the computing industry locally and nationally, by providing a wide variety of ABET-accredited classes of high quality. The department has over 500 majors across all the programs. We also offer several graduate level programs to suit the needs of full-time students as well as working individuals in the area.
Explore the Computer Science Department and undergraduate and graduate degrees: ( Range** : Generally starting at $4,000-$5,500 per 3-credit hour course. Pay rate is dependent upon the type of courses taught (e.g. undergraduate, graduate, or cross-listed). Compensation is prorated based on course credit hours. Compensation will be commensurate upon experience, qualifications, and teaching assignments. This position is Exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) overtime provisions.

**Summary**
The College of Engineering & Applied Science at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) will establish and maintain a pool of **Lecturers** in **Game Design and Development** from which future appointments to temporary, non-tenure track positions will be made. Appointments are part-time (less than 50% time) and will be made semester-by-semester.
This position will teach Game Design and Development classes for the department of Computer Science. Classes may be on-campus, online, or hybrid. Examples of courses/subject area include the following:
+ Introduction to Game Development (using GameMaker Studio 2)
+ Introductory Programming for Game Developers (using C# and Unity)
+ Object-Oriented Design, Analysis, and Implementation (using C# and Unity)
+ Game Design for Diverse Populations (using GameMaker Studio 2)
+ Special Topics in Game Design (various topics in game design and game art)
+ Special Topics in Game Programming (various topics in game programming)
**Essential Functions**
The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
+ Provide instruction to undergraduate/graduate students based on course modality including class and/or lab preparation, administering exams, grading, and maintaining office hours.
+ Maintain, develop and schedule student learning experiences to achieve desired learning outcomes.
+ Plan, develop, and implement evaluation tools to assess student progress towards course learning objectives.
+ Be familiar with learning management systems, such as Canvas.
+ Other duties as determined by the Department Chair.

In this role you will be part of shaping the industry with your innovative solutions and creativity.
Responsibilities
- Participate in designing all aspects of a game design including entertainment, pacing, mathematical outcomes, and player communication.
- Actively work on multiple projects concurrently.
- Have meticulous attention to detail to achieve optimal designs, including math models, XML control files, par sheets and customer-facing communication.
- Test mathematical outcomes to assure quality and that accurate calculations are achieved (through excel and programming).
- Maintain active field research, analysis, and industry knowledge to clearly understand and convey player profiles to develop new features and products.
- Create and own all design documentation and deliverables for projects, including game concepts, in-game messaging, marketing communication, game rules, some game documentation, and pay tables.
- Generate initial and final excel-based math models, par sheets, and XML control files (or comparable code file/formats) used by the game engine.
- Play test all games in studio development with detailed verbal or written feedback around all aspects of the player experience: math, art, sound, messaging, game pacing and user interface.
- Jointly develop and adapt prototypes and simulators (XNA, C#, XML schema and Direct X) to play test, refine and troubleshoot calculations on game concepts.
- Analyze performance data from the marketplace to help identify future game mechanics and industry trends.
Qualifications
- Has a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Game Design, Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Has strong interest specifically in slot machine game design.
- Has solid expertise with Excel; mastery through VBA preferred.
- Has strong expertise in Combinatorics, Probability Theory and Statistics.
- Demonstrates ability to create well-structured, well-documented, maintainable programs in C/C++/C# (or comparable language).
- Demonstrates outstanding data analysis and presentation skills.
- Must work well with creative conflict in a consensus-based, collaborative environment.
- Has a passion for playing games of multiple genres and a solid background in slots and casino games.
- Can communicate effectively with engineering, art, production, and business personnel.
- Is a naturally curious mind interested in zeroing in on what existing and potential players and customers want.
Preferred:
- Has a minimum of 3 years of slot game proposition design.
- Has released one or more game titles in a lead game designer role.

Job SummaryA Game Design Manager is responsible for managing a team of tabletop game designers and leading the development of new Office Dog titles, created by freelance game designers. These games will include original franchises and licensed properties from top entertainment brands. The position will collaborate with Studio leaders in Creative, Production & Marketing, taking new games from an initial concept to market launch.
What will your role involve- Manage a team of tabletop game designers. Set project goals, maintain schedules, establish career growth pathways, approve PTO requests and conduct performance reviews.
- Lead development of Office Dog games. Create development goals, place games with appropriate developers, and keep in regular contact to ensure production deliverables.
- Ensure final game products are fun, inclusive, in the spirit of the intellectual property involved, and within the scope of the vision and budget of the product.
- Partner with Asmodee Distribution Units. Supply distribution teams with game prototypes, product overview presentations and answer localization questions.
- Contribute to Studio selections of new game systems, licenses and freelance game designers & developers.
- Manage the status and progress of all active, assigned projects to meet deadlines.
- Communicate and deliver project requirements to the Production Manager and Creative Director.
- Lead internal and external playtesting by providing all necessary test components, answering questions, collecting feedback, and analyzing it to improve the balance and usability of the games design, rules, and content.
- Provide documentation to other creative departments (Art, Graphic Design, Sculpting, etc.) using defined document specifications to detail what elements are required to support the game design.
- Collaborate with freelance contractors and review their content to ensure deliverables are up to standard and meet project deadlines.
- Maintain community and product life-cycle awareness for active game lines.
- Develop errata, FAQs, and tournament rules for active game lines.
- Work with Print Production partners to ensure our products are correctly translated and all questions and concerns are addressed in a timely manner.
- Work with game testing programs to upload game files and coordinate remote playtest sessions.
- Schedule and host game demo sessions to inform intra-company teams about future releases.

Position Skills & Qualifications
- Ability to provide game development direction to game designers and developers.
- Proficiency with Tabletop Simulator and/or other digital game playtesting software.
- Experience playing and appreciation of a broad variety of games categories.
