Job Description
To provide clinical nursing support to the Our department and providers, adhere to all policies and procedures of MMC, and meet the needs of patients in a teamwork approach.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in a clinic setting and provides direct patient care, as well as face-to-face communication with patients. There is possible exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, bodily fluids, and other conditions common to medical practice. Varied activities including walking, bending, reaching, lifting (up to 30 pounds), stooping, assisting patients, and sitting for extended periods of time may occur. Documentation takes place on a computer using a laptop or standard desktop for entire length of shift. Work space may have periods of loud noise and sounds. Also, occasional stress from multiple responsibilities.
Job Responsibilities
- Obtain Vital Signs, including manual blood pressures for patients.
- Collect specimens, perform testing, and deliver specimens to performing laboratory if necessary.
- Set up and assist in exam rooms and procedure rooms as needed.
- Administer Vaccinations and adhere to CDC vaccination guidelines.
- Utilize EHR to document and manage the patient's chart.
- Reconciling the patient's medication list at each visit.
- Schedule procedure and educate patients on any prep needed prior to procedure.
- Notify patients of test results as directed by doctor/provider by using the telephone, patient portal or mailing letter.
- Must appropriately document all results communicated with patients in the EHR.
- Administer and accurately document medication injections, oral medications, and topical medications as ordered.
- Maintain and disperse sample medications as indicated by clinic standards.
- Document all communications with patients and act as a liaison between the patient and the provider, as well as the patient and other health care agencies.
- Be a patient advocate when needed.
- Managing prescriptions refills with the use of the department medication refill policy.
- Manage incoming and outgoing correspondence.
- Be knowledgeable in preventative care and quality measures, by following CDC guidelines.
- Must be able to meet departmental quality goals yearly.
- Must be able to use all computer system/applications used in the department including but not limited to current EHR and Practice Management Program, Microsoft Office, Multisystem Phone, Phreesia and additional systems added.
- Must obtain AHA Basic Life Saver Certification within 90 days of employment.
- Be knowledgeable of and adhere to all OSHA guidelines.
- Be knowledgeable of and adhere to all MMC policies and procedures.
