The Division of Hospitalist and General Internal Medicineat the University of Maryland School of Medicine seeks a fulltime General Internal Medicine physician to serve at the University of Maryland Midtown Health Center, an ambulatory academic practice at the University of Maryland Medical Center-Midtown Campus (UMMC- MTC). Clinical responsibilities will include managing a panel of patients in primary care as well as participating in call coverage with other members of the team. The successful candidate will practice with a multi-disciplinary approach alongside other service providers to optimize patient experiences and outcomes. This position will also provide educational supervision and oversight to medical students and residents, as the site serves as the ambulatory continuity practice for the UMMC-MTC Internal Medicine residency program. Finally, this position will engage in community outreach and patient education as well as participate in service projects to increase visibility andbenefit to the community. Expected faculty rank for this position will be Assistant Professor or higher, however, final rank, tenure status and salary will be commensurate with selected candidate’s qualifications and experience. The expected salary range for Assistant Professors is $171,493 (min) and $267,554 (max). The referenced salary range reflects base pay, which is based on faculty rank and years in rank. This salary range does not include all components of the departmental faculty compensation programor pay from participation in departmental variable compensation programs.Therefore, the actual compensation paid to the selected candidate may vary from the salary range stated herein. The referenced salary range represents the minimum and maximum salaries for this position and is based on the University of Maryland School of Medicine’s good faith belief at the time of posting. Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. - Initiates referral to appropriate ancillary departments and community resources based on patient need and documents on the progress note.
- Writes progress notes for each visit documenting pertinent information regarding patient progress and treatment regime.
- Writes orders appropriate to the patient's care requirements in compliance with existing contract.
- Establishes medical diagnoses in compliance with contract.
- Refers to the physician or designee those problems which require consultation and documents same on progress note.
- Makes immediate referral of acute and or life threatening patient conditions to physician or designee. Documents physical findings and treatment plan pertaining to same.
- Documents results of technical functions performed.
- Reports to physician or designee any abnormal findings related to it.
- Monitors patient response related to technical function performed and documents it.
- Acts as a clinical resource.
- Actively supports and participates in nursing and/or hospital performance improvement initiatives.
- Participates actively in health teaching of patient and family to include preventative health care as well as current medical condition and treatment regime. Evidence of same by documentation on progress note and/or established flow sheet.
- Plans and reviews home care instructions with patient and family if needed. Include needs for service provided by community resources and hospital based ancillary services.

Provides continuity of patient care by facilitating and coordinating communication between the health care team, patient and patient's family. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Master of Science degree in Nursing with completion of a Nurse Practitioner program; Registered and currently recorded with the Maryland Board of Examiners of Nurses and Certified as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Maryland
- Valid state APRN Recognition (must meet education requirement (s) for state recognition and obtain within six (6) months of hire)
- DEA and CDS eligible
- CPR required
- BLS required
- ACLS and/or other relevant certifications as required by the department
- A minimum of one year experience as a Registered Nurse is preferred
- Demonstrates ability to promote professionalism through involvement in professional organizations, teaching, research, publishing, and/or certification in area of specialty
