As an Anatomic Patholgist- Medical Director, you will provide strategic and operational leadership for the Anatomic Pathology services, including surgical pathology, cytopathology, and pathology subspecialties as necessary. In addition, you will be responsible for the diagnostic evaluation and interpretation of surgical specimens to provide accurate, timely, and clinically relevant pathology reports.
The ideal candidate will be board-certified in Anatomic Pathology with demonstrated expertise in general surgical pathology, with subspecialty training or interest (e.g., GI, breast, GYN, Derm, Hemepath etc.) considered a plus. The role combines administrative oversight with sign-out responsibilities and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams. Of note, many of the operational roles listed below can be delegated. Those that cannot such as the Annual Safety Inspection and the review of Proficiency, must be performed by the Medical Director.
**What you will do:**
**Sign-out, Consultation & Communication**
+ Interpret and sign out surgical pathology cases with accuracy and efficiency.
+ Perform gross examination and microscopic analysis of tissue specimens.
+ Correlate findings with clinical history, imaging, and laboratory data as needed.
+ Communicate diagnostic findings and recommendations to clinical teams, PI's and study sponsors.
+ Quality & Compliance
+ Participate in quality assurance/quality control programs.
+ Maintain compliance with CAP, CLIA, and institutional guidelines.
+ Ensure timely completion and delivery of pathology reports
**Regulatory Compliance & Accreditation:**
+ Ensure compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local regulations, including but not limited to CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments), CAP (College of American Pathologists), and Joint Commission standards.
+ Maintain laboratory accreditation by ensuring adherence to appropriate guidelines and policies.
+ Prepare for and lead regulatory inspections and audits.
+ Establish and enforce policies for quality control, quality assurance, and proficiency testing.
**Staff Development & Training:**
+ Oversee the recruitment, training, and performance evaluation of laboratory personnel.
+ Provide medical and scientific training to laboratory staff and ensure they are up-to-date with current best practices.
+ Foster a culture of continuous learning, professional development, and high-quality patient care among laboratory personnel.
+ Quality Assurance & Improvement:
+ Monitor laboratory performance and implement improvements based on data-driven insights.
+ Lead root cause analysis and corrective action plans in response to any non-conformance, errors, or patient safety incidents.

At Stony Brook Medicine, a **TH Medical Radiographer Assistant Director** is a valuable member of our team, who provides administrative and executive support and has the ability to interface with all levels of management throughout the hospital. Qualified candidates will demonstrate superior patient care and possess outstanding communication skills while adhering to our high standard of excellence.
**Duties of a TH Medical Radiographer Assistant** **Director in the MRI Department may include the following but are not limited to:**
+ Supervise technical staff and oversee daily operation of the Magnetic Resonance Imaging section of the Radiology Department. Maintains the standards of quality in the operations of the Magnetic Resonance Imaging section.
+ Initiate employee evaluations and prepare and submit them in a timely manner according to Human Resources requirements.
+ Recommend area assignments and scheduling of personnel to provide optimal services to patient and physicians.
+ Recommend promotions, discipline, and other administrative action when needed.
+ Report problems relating to staffing, morale, work methods, procedures and recommends action in all personnel matters for those personnel assigned to him/her.
+ Assist in the selection and preparation of specifications for equipment and supplies.
+ Will interact with vendors and service representatives to maintain the equipment in proper working order.
+ Initiate and implement research projects.
+ Perform proficiently high quality Magnetic Resonance Imaging exams and all duties related to exam and report generation.
+ Make every effort to accommodate the timely scheduling of patient appointments to provide the highest level of service for in/out patients and referring physicians.
+ Maintain effective, ongoing communication with faculty and staff members.
+ Maintain the cleanliness of patient rooms and work areas, assuring that the rooms are well stocked with supplies, removing soiled linens, and cleaning equipment and examination rooms after each patient is seen.
+ Initiate and facilitate in the implementation and renewal of ACR Accreditation process. All sections except Diagnostic.
+ Adhere to HIPAA regulations to protect patient information.
+ Maintain the area in compliance with Joint Commission and NYS DOH standards. Complete annual recertification training as mandated by Human Resources and ensure all in Magnetic Resonance Imaging section is compliant.
+ Take active and enthusiastic role in new trends in the Magnetic Resonance Imaging section.
**Qualifications**
**Required** **:**
+ Associates Degree or higher.
+ Seven years of experience in Magnetic Resonance Imaging.
+ New York State Department of Health License in Radiology Technology with Certification in IV Contrast Injection.
+ ARRT Certification in Magnetic Resonance Imaging.
+ Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
**Preferred** **:**
+ Bachelor's degree.
+ Two years of supervisory experience.
+ MRI experience on Siemens 3T and 1.5.
+ Experience with Anesthesia and Pace Maker studies.

_Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:_
+ Ultimate responsibility for scientific knowledge of self/team and oversight of a team of MSLs throughout the entire US.

Additionally, the position is eligible to participate in 30% of the company bonus pool.
