In the role of Digital Design Specialist, we'll count on you to:

  • Work for a specific discipline, under the direct supervision of an Architect/Engineer, or other technical professional
  • Be responsible for their discipline model and will generate the BIM elements, based on the Level of Development (LOD) outlined in the Digital Delivery Plan (DDP) and project scope.
  • Create and maintain the discipline model, systems, content, and overall digital delivery output for that discipline
  • Rely on the architect, engineer, or other technical professional to provide direction and guidance throughout the project duration but will be technically competent with the discipline and software used to produce the designs identified in the Digital Delivery requirements
  • Accurately model the BIM elements in the correct special constraints of the modeling environment, using the current 3D software
  • Prepare detailed drawings, layouts, & diagrams of the design within the project scope, schedule, and budget, using the current 3D software
  • Maintain the discipline model including project information, coordinates, scales, orientations, scope boundaries, match-lines, views, and sheets
  • Produce discipline specific documentation with accurate annotations on all modeling output
  • Monitor, improve, and maintain company standards and model health
  • Coordinate the design with other discipline models through Design Reviews and the 3D Coordination process
  • Assist or execute any additional Digital Delivery requirements identified on the project

Preferred Qualifications:

  • WTP / WWTP / PS experience in Revit
  • Process Piping experience
  • Preference given to local candidates



Required Qualifications
  • Technical degree or a minimum of 3 years related industry experience
  • Technically qualified with 3D design software and document management infrastructure
  • Competency of Microsoft Office products and communication tools
  • Experience with 3D Coordination tools
  • Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and organizational traits are essential
  • Intermediate understanding of engineering or architectural concepts

Overview:

HGA's Healthcare practice is seeking a BIM specialist to join our team in one of our California offices. This position is intended to provide Revit model specific support to architects, planners, and designers who actively use Revit for project delivery.

The individual will take ownership of the Revit model setup and continued management of the Architectural models on active projects. The majority of the time will be spent working directly on HC projects in California, and occasionally, in other HC departments across different HGA offices. A portion of the time will be spent receiving the needed training / support from the national HGA Digital Practice Group (DPG) team to incorporate the related standards.

The role provides on-going user support, troubleshooting, and content development on assigned projects. Working with DPG, this role assists in the continued promotion and development of BIM throughout our practice. The individual will also be accountable to DPG's Strategic Projects team who will provide the necessary guidance, training, and support to this role in implementing firmwide digital design workflows, strategic initiatives, and any client-specific BIM requirements.

In this role you will:

    setup the Revit model using HGA BIM standard workflows;
  1. maintain and manage Revit model health for smooth operation/performance of the models;
  2. troubleshoot Revit user issues within the broader HC team;
  3. assist with BIM coordination responsibilities where necessary;
  4. provide continuing quality assurance with project teams to maintain BIM quality and standards;
  5. ensure adherence to BIM execution plans and firm-wide modeling and information standards;
  6. communicate/coordinate BIM related workflows with project team;
  7. coordinate with BIM leads in other disciplines;
  8. attend coordination / clash detection meetings as necessary;
  9. represent the respective team/discipline in regular Revit meetings as needed;
  10. manage requests from HC team members for content creation on project specific content;
  11. maintain continuity of information across multiple applications;
  12. provide general setup, configuration, and customization of standard design and production applications;
  13. assist in training and provide technical support for HGA staff, both one-on-one and in group class setting; and
  14. handle customization, trouble shooting and product testing. Warning and Error messages management.

Revit specific responsibilities , you will perform:

  • Model Set Up, which includes:
    • starter file setup with appropriate Revit Content, View templates, and parameters;
    • existing conditions modeling and linking other discipline models;
    • coordinate / Update the Survey and Project Base point location in Revit; and
    • confirm that all team members use appropriate versions/builds of Revit.
  • Model Maintenance, which includes:
    • clearing critical warnings and errors;
    • troubleshooting Revit issues for the team;
    • coordinating workset setup for each discipline;
    • ensuring that Revit files are regularly audited;
    • collecting and Managing Links of required parties;
    • organizing and maintaining Revit project browser;
    • resolving any Coordination Review issues;
    • removing unnecessary views, design options, links (CAD and Revit), line styles, families, images;
    • purging as necessary unused elements not captured in the list above; and
    • reviewing elements to ensure they are meeting the Level of Development (LOD) specified in the BIM Execution Plan.
  • Model Coordination with direction from Project Architect (PA) and team, which includes:
    • cordinating with other disciplines/vendors for modeling and drawings, sheet setup and area creation;
    • coordinating respective disciplines plotting / creation of sheet files using the proper print settings and view templates;
    • ensuring the naming, numbering, and assembly of drawings is accurately set up;
    • updating the titleblock with latest issuance title and date;
    • coordinating exports to CAD, Navisworks, etc. as required;
    • reviewing the Drawing Index and make sure appropriate sheets are included in the set.; and
    • achiving documents associated with milestone submission.
You will need to have:
  • Associate degree and preferably 2-5 years of experience working on architectural projects in Revit
  • Familiarity with basic construction types
  • Strong communication skills
  • Problem-solving skills, attention to detail and motivation to learn
  • Collaborative and professional work ethic
  • Strong knowledge and use of Revit and standard Microsoft Office products like Outlook, Word, Excel
  • Intermediate knowledge and use of Sketchup, Rhino, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Adobe Creative Suite
  • A demonstrated understanding of project workflows from design to construction administration, building from knowledge of industry standards, workflows and data formats
  • Certification in Revit (preferred but not required)

Salary Information:

You will need to have:
  • Associate degree and preferably 2-5 years of experience working on architectural projects in Revit
  • Familiarity with basic construction types
  • Strong communication skills
  • Problem-solving skills, attention to detail and motivation to learn
  • Collaborative and professional work ethic
  • Strong knowledge and use of Revit and standard Microsoft Office products like Outlook, Word, Excel
  • Intermediate knowledge and use of Sketchup, Rhino, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Adobe Creative Suite
  • A demonstrated understanding of project workflows from design to construction administration, building from knowledge of industry standards, workflows and data formats
  • Certification in Revit (preferred but not required)

Salary Information:

The pay range listed aligns to the geography of the office for which this position is posted and will be based upon work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
