- Title: Field Research Assistant
- Duration: short term seasonal with possible extension
- Location: Windfall IN 46076
- Pay rate: $16/hour on W2 (without benefits)
- Shift: 7:30am - 4pm Mon-Fri
Note:
- Outdoor work: Heat, mud, dust - hands on work
- Reliable, follows instructions, Safety conscious
- Basic computer, iPad skills
- Day to Day: Plant Sampling (cut leaves & ears and place into bin to take samples); Hand Harvest, Photometry. Inside Work = Take Inventory, Computer work: scanning bar codes
- Tasks can change day to day and be fast paced.
- PPE: we supply all PPE that would be needed except for Steel Toed Boots, which are only required for certain work. They most likely would not need those right away, and we would reimburse them if we tell them to go get some or order them. It is good for them to be prepared to be out in the field during all conditions (except Storms), hot, dry, muddy, rainy, etc
The Research Assistant will perform a variety of routine tasks associated with the Windfall, IN multi crop research station. The tasks will include any or all of those described for the Field and Processing Worker, organization of samples during corn/soy harvest and/or, wheat planting. The type of task will be dependent on the stage of the annual research program and will be seasonal in nature. Tasks may be performed in an indoor and/or outdoor setting. The Assistant must be able to understand and follow both written and oral instructions. He/She normally receives general instructions on routine tasks and detailed instructions on new tasks. The work will be closely supervised.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform technical and manual labor tasks on active construction job sites.
- Assist with setup, operation, and maintenance of tools and heavy machinery (saws, trackhoes, skidsteers, etc.).
- Adapt quickly to changing tasks and varying project requirements.
- Work safely and efficiently while following company and site-specific safety protocols.
- Travel regularly to out-of-town job sites; per diem and lodging provided.
- Report progress and issues promptly to the site manager.
- Collaborate with team members to complete projects on time and to company standards.
- Maintain a professional and team-oriented attitude at all times.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of construction or field experience preferred.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Willingness to work long hours, including many weeks with extended days.
- Ability to perform physically demanding labor, including lifting, bending, and working outdoors.
- Willingness to travel regularly for overnight stays at project sites (company covers per diem and hotels).
- Strong communication skills and ability to follow instructions.
- Experience with or willingness to learn heavy equipment operation (saws, trackhoes, skidsteers, etc.).
