Department Information
The Wallace H. Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering at Georgia Tech and Emory University has a student body of 1,200 undergraduates, 260 graduate students, and 70 primary and 73 program faculty. The Human Resource Consultant provides expert guidance and support to organizations on various Human Resource matters, including talent management, compliance, and organizational development. This position emphasizes the assessment of current Human Resource practices, the identification of areas for improvement, and the delivery of customized solutions to meet the unique needs of the institution.
Job Duty 1 -
Conduct comprehensive assessments of existing human resource practices to identify gaps, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement within the organization.
Job Duty 2 -
Provide expert advice on talent management strategies, including recruitment, onboarding, and succession planning, to enhance organizational effectiveness.
Job Duty 3 -
Develop customized training and development programs tailored to the specific needs of the institution to foster employee growth and skill enhancement.

Facilitate workshops and training sessions for managers and employees on various Human Resource topics, including performance management, leadership development, and employee engagement.

Educational Requirements
Associate degree in related discipline or equivalent, related experience.

Job Summary: The HR Consultant is a client-facing position, HR Generalist role on the Client Services team. - Respond to inquiries from clients regarding federal and state law requirements, including research and application of existing laws, proposed laws, and laws that may be applicable to clients
- Participate in sales presentations to communicate HR Consulting Services and other Client Services, as needed; audience to include Executives and Senior Management
- Develop customized compensation benchmarking reports and guidance on existing compensation structure

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Policy, Rule and Law Interpretation- Evaluate organizational practices for compliance with laws, rules and policies. As necessary, develop HR practice recommendations that comply with regulatory requirements while meeting or maintaining operational needs. Develop implementation strategies that maintain continuity of operations.
Complaint Resolution - Provide information to employees regarding complaint resolution options. Provide guidance to managers and supervisors responding to employee complaints. Conduct, or assist managers with, investigations to resolve allegations and work with parties to effect resolution of employee complaints or concerns. Negotiate settlements and prepare settlement agreements.
Labor Relations - Educate and inform managers and supervisors regarding the interpretation and application of labor agreements. Assist in responding to and resolving employee grievances. May participate on contract negotiation teams.
Performance Management & Corrective Action - Provide consultative advice and educate clients regarding performance management and corrective action.
Reorganization Planning - Provide counsel and assistance with consolidations and or department closures to leaders in alignment with UW policy and collective bargaining agreements
Training - Conduct formal and informal training sessions regarding a variety of HR topics.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree preferably in Human Resources or a related field, and at least four years of increasingly responsible senior human resource experience OR equivalent combinations of experience/education.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Excellent analytical, written, and oral communications skills, and technical proficiency using word processing, email, and the internet is essential. The most competitive candidates for this position will have demonstrated professional work experience
