**Position Overview** :
The Facilities Instrumentation Department at SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory is seeking a Process Control Instrument Technician to perform design, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting on industrial pneumatic and electronic distributed instrumentation, and control systems. Reporting to the Instrumentation Supervisor, the Technicians will perform the following duties.
**Your specific responsibilities include:**
+ Respond to a wide range of Service Desk request to install, troubleshoot, repair, calibrate, maintain and commission the instrumentation and controls for conventional plant/laboratory facilities.
+ Perform the following facilities operations and control operator functions as assigned.
+ Meetings and data update to Ops all F&O Ops documentation
+ Utilize equipment such as pneumatic and electrical instruments for measuring temperature, pressure, pH, flow, power, and other analytical signals.
+ Configure and maintain Honeywell SCAN/Experion distributed control system.
+ Configure and troubleshoot PLC's (Allen Bradley SLC5/05, ControlLogix, and Honeywell S9000 PLCs), loop controllers, and relay logic.
+ Design, install and evaluate new process control systems and associated equipment.

For high power laser operations, the candidate will work with the Facility Manager to ensure the readiness, reliability, and continual improvement of the facility. He or She will also support a reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) program for the laser system in terms of inventory control, critical spares lists, and maintenance routines. For calorimeter development, the candidate will work with the Test Engineering group to plan arc jet testing aimed at reducing uncertainty in calorimeter-measured heat flux. Job Description
The candidate will be familiar with and direct test personnel on the instrument types used for plasma flow characterizations and TPS testing. Instrument types include visible and infrared spectrometers, lasers, cameras, calorimeter probes, thermocouples, and pitot probes. For optical diagnostics, the candidate will be responsible for setting up and guiding the operation of the diagnostic for flow and surface characterization during arc jet testing. Specifically, the candidate will support the NASA Test Engineering group with instrument set up and operation for TPS testing, follow and continually improve documented procedures for data acquisition, analyze acquired data in a timely manner, and interpret results in collaboration with the Lead Test Engineer.
For calorimeter and pitot probes, the candidate will work with the Test Engineering group to plan arc jet testing aimed at reducing uncertainty in calorimeter-measured heat flux. The candidate will communicate key findings to customers and document findings through either internal reports or publication of conference and journal papers.
