Position

Activities Program

- Conduct and/or assist with planned resident activities, programs, and services throughout the community.

- Involve families, residents, and community volunteers to participate as a regular part of the activity program as directed by immediate supervisor.
- Review, read, notate, and initialize the Daily Log and Department Log to document and learn about pertinent information and any resident's physical and behavioral changes as well as activities information.
- Practice positive resident relations following our Sunrise Shared Values, respond to resident requests, and direct resident feedback and requests to immediate supervisor.
- Review the Individualized Service Plan (ISP)/Individualized Care Plan (ICP) and Resident Profile and Addendums for every new resident.
- Assist to ensure each resident's Memory Box is completed within two (2) weeks of move-in.
- Maintain and protect the confidentiality of resident information at all times.
- Understand and demonstrate proficiency with the Quality Assurance Process (QA) and essential quality service standards pertaining to enriching resident centered activities and programming and partner with community team in striving for excellent quality care and service delivery as measured in the QA process.
- Partner with community team to ensure community follows all federal, state/provincial, and local laws, regulations, and Sunrise quality standards for resident care and services.
- Maintain and/or exceed standards of cleanliness, hygiene, proper attire, and health.
- Partner with community team to ensure community is in compliance with national/provincial regulations pertaining to occupational health and safety, promote Risk Management programs and policies, and adhere to safety rules and regulations.
- Practice safety procedures at all times including Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), fire extinguishers, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and Lockout Tagout procedures.

The City of Coronado is now accepting applications for the
Recreation Assistant
Current Openings are at the Community Center Front Desk and Rock Climbing Wall, Facility Rental and Event Set Up Staff, Youth Programs (Classes and Camps), and Inclusion Assistants.
This posting will be used to fill multiple vacancies across divisions. Please complete the questionnaire to indicate your area of interest. The working hours are varied and flexible; employment may be either designated as Seasonal (up to 40 hours per week, not to exceed 89 days) or Temporary (not to exceed 29 hours per week or 1,000 hours per fiscal year).
The Position
Front Desk & Daily Operations: Employee would be based out of the Coronado Community Center or John D. Spreckels Center and would provide phone and in-person customer service, register patrons for programs, and provide general information. This position may also include preparing event spaces for usage and maintenance of the center.
Youth Programs and Camps: Employee would be based out of the Community Center, Club Room, or outdoor spaces. This position may assist, develop and lead recreation activities for youth including, after school, preschool, teen activities and camps.
Adult Programs/Senior Programs: Employee would be based out of the Community Center or John D. Spreckels Center and would work with adults and seniors, providing customer service to patrons utilizing the center and may assist, develop, and lead recreation programs.
Skatepark: Employee would be based at the Skatepark and would work with visiting patrons, running events and programs, registering patrons, and maintaining a safe environment.
Inclusion: Employee may be based at multiple locations assisting patrons with disabilities with activities.
Rental Event Staff: Employee would be based out of the Community Center, John D. Spreckels Center or Club Room to set up, take down, supervise and be a staff liaison during rental events.
Facility Rentals: Employee would be based out of the Community Center to assist with facility rentals including providing in-person and phone customer service, set up, take down, supervision and be a staff liaison during rental events.
Day Trips: Employee would drive trips for participants of all ages to local sites and amusements for all ages. Possession of a CDL license with passenger endorsement required, but training can be provided.
Parks & Beaches: Employee would be based out of the John D. Spreckels Center and would work mainly in the field overseeing events, user groups, and programs in Coronado's parks and beaches.
Rockwall: Employee will be based out the Community Center to guide and instruct rockwall participants ages 6 to adult on safe rock climbing techniques.
The following tasks are typical for positions in this classification. Any single position may not perform all of these tasks and/or may perform similar related tasks not listed here:
1. Provide general assistance within assigned Operations Division tasks including special events, maintenance and cleaning of community center, and daily operations of community center.
2. Provide onsite supervision to community center participants in specific areas.
3. Prepare recreational facilities for use; ensure that appropriate equipment and supplies are available for classes and special events; set up and take down of facilities equipment.
4. Greet and assist the general public; provide information; respond to, resolve or direct inquiries and complaints to appropriate staff.
5. Perform a variety of general and routine administrative tasks in support of Operations staff duties; operate office equipment to perform tasks including computers and supporting software applications, copiers, fax machines, telephones and cash registers.

SICK LEAVE
Part-time, Temporary, and Seasonal (PTS) Employees who work for 30 or more days within a year, will accrue paid sick leave in compliance with the Healthy Workplace, Healthy Families Act of 2014. Leave will accrue at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked beginning on the first day of employment. Sick leave may be used after the 90th day of employment and up to 40 hours in one year.

Description
This position assists with the coordination and implementation of all phases of recreation programs, special events, public relations, administrative, and operational tasks. The employee ensures safe and effective use of facilities. This is a 5-25 hour per week permanent position with no benefits, including evenings and weekends.
Essential Functions
- Provides general assistance to the Recreation Division.
- Assists with public relations as it relates to department sponsored programs, activities, and events.
- Assists in the coordination of activities of the recreation facility sites.
- Opens recreation facilities. Inspects program areas to ensure safety. Closes activities at scheduled times.
- Oversees participants and spectators during activities and facility open hours to ensure safety of individuals and facilities. Ensures cleanliness of facility prior to and after programs.
- Travels to sites to ensure that equipment and sites are available and appropriate and to monitor instruction.
- Maintains interior of Parks & Recreation buildings, including but not limited to, cleaning, sweeping, and reporting any incidents of property damage.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Provides administrative support to Recreation Division after 5pm
- Processes registration
- Recreation Assistants may be assigned one or more of the following focus areas:
- General Programming
- Therapeutic Recreation
- Senior Programming
- Evening Facilities maintenance
- Personal Training/Fitness
- Special Events.
- Performs other assigned duties
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of recreation and leisure program management.
