A manufacturing company in Northbrook is looking for a temporary Logistics Specialist to support a fast-paced department. The Logistics Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day import and export transactions as well as record keeping and regulatory compliance. This role includes executing international freight contracts, managing ocean providers, data analysis, logistics invoice processing and managing international trade compliance, as well as ongoing international logistics services.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Responsible for maintaining internal controls program to ensure compliance with federal and foreign regulations governing the shipment, receipt, and documentation of imported/exported products.
- Interface with internal/external customers, foreign subsidiaries, distributors, vendors, brokers, and carriers to ensure compliance with all applicable import/export regulations.
- Maintains compliance with international trade compliance programs such as C-TPAT.
- Manages inquiries, performs research, and provides guidance to business personnel to address and solve purchase compliance issues based on the needs of the business including post entry filings, assist filings, harmonized tariff schedules and resolving duty discrepancies.
- Transportation planning including providing key data elements such as development of transportation lanes and rates.
- Day to day management of ocean carriers and forwarders. Working with providers to develop processes and procedures to address all facets of ocean freight shipments.
- Expedite shipments for buyers and request ocean and air freight quotes for import and exports shipments.
- Manage invoicing review and processing for all logistics providers.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree with focus on Business, Logistics, International Trade, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience relating to trade compliance and logistics.
- Preferred Certified Customs Specialist (CCS)/Certified Export Specialist (CES) or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification not required.
- Interpreting import/export laws, rulings, regulations and translating them into reasonable business practices.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classification and Free Trade Agreement (FTA) qualification.
- Relevant work experience with specific understanding of supply chain and logistics concepts.
- Haz-Mat experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI, etc.).

As a Lead, Logistics in Managed Transportation at RXO, you will effectively manage and administer operational policies and procedures that support the Managed Transportation team's objective to ensure the highest possible quality and accuracy for our customers.
What your day-to-day will look like:
• Assess and adjust staffing requirements to maintain the highest possible level of quality service to our customers, while maintaining the lowest possible expenditures of overtime or excess labor expense

Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Provide customer support at MIL's service/will-call counter as well as by phone and email.
- Complete multiple steps throughout the order fulfillment cycle including receiving inspection, order entry, planning, contract review, product labeling and routing.

This person will be responsible for supporting the Site Logistics Operations Lead to develop and implement consistent processes and oversee third party logistics teams at their assigned data center. This position requires communication skills, collaboration, prioritization skills, a proven track record exposed to process analysis and optimization, the understanding of logistics processes and systems, and experience with data analysis and logistics operations.
**Required Skills:**
Site Logistics Operations Specialist Responsibilities:
1. Oversee logistics operations at assigned data center site to ensure operations are performed within the IBOS 4S standards (Safety, Security, SOX compliance, Stakeholders)
2. Proactively and continuously monitor site logistics operations to identify gaps and create remediation plans as needed
3. Plan and coordinate with third party logistics provider lead at the assigned data center to ensure site logistics requirements are met or exceeded. Work closely with third party lead to develop logistics support plans to include inventory accuracy, inventory movement and distribution, server rack movements, shipping and receiving, and any other processes as needed

6. Build and support cross-functional relationships with internal partners drive effective communication channels supporting operations management

9. Enable and support IBOS leaders to understand business requirements, implement new processes and contribute to ongoing process improvements
10. Drive inventory reconciliation process to identify risk, manage obsolescence, and correct errors impacting inventory movement
11. Identify and implement process improvement and efficiency efforts at assigned data center and warehouse locations
12. Raise the visibility of IBOS field issues that require better systemic controls to central logistics for the development of improved processes

This role supports daily import and inventory operations for industrial parts from Asia, serving customers across North America. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational, communication, and analytical skills, and enjoy a dynamic environment with cross-functional responsibilities.ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT NOT ARE LIMITED TO: Coordinate daily shipments and logistics with warehouses, customers, and suppliers Process shipping documents, create and manage internal records such as vessel/container receipts Review and organize documentation for customs, regulatory compliance, and invoicing Monitor inventory and product pricing, ensuring data is up to date and accurate Prepare quotations, purchase orders, invoices, and packing lists for international and domestic customers Review freight and customs invoices and submit for payment processing Verify customs entries and manage duties and tariffs billing Work with internal teams to investigate and resolve accounting or inventory discrepancies Communicate directly with customers to confirm order details, pricing, and delivery timelines Maintain accurate documentation and reports in Excel and internal tracking systems Support the sales team and division manager with administrative and operational tasks Assist with special projects and ad-hoc tasks as assigned by managementQUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's Degree or higher education required Minimum 1 year of experience in logistics, supply chain, inside sales, or a related field Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel (intermediate level) Strong communication and interpersonal skills with internal and external teams Solid analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving abilities Japanese bilingual ability or cultural understanding is a strong plusBenefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life and Disability Insurance (100 % covered by company ) , Holidays, Sick Leave, Vacations and Retirement Account (Profit Sharing). Pay: $23.00 per hour
Responsibilities for Logistics Specialists jobs include but are not limited to:
• Assist in day-to-day office tasks.
• Update account managers on problem loads and what actions have been taken.
• Update receivers and customers on status of loads.
• Monitor daily pick-ups and deliveries.
• Verify that loads have arrived on time and in good condition.
• Take check calls from drivers, ensuring that loads will deliver on time, validate all load data prior to marking loads delivered for accounting purposes.
• Investigate product overages, shortages, damages and complete appropriate documentation.
• Schedule and reschedule delivery appointments for all loads, accept or decline loads based on direction from account managers.
• Provide detailed directions and instructions to properly rout drivers.
Candidates must meet the following requirements to be considered for Logistics Specialists jobs:
• Must have 1+ years of logistics experience.
• Must have General knowledge of the transportation industry.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Experience writing routine reports and correspondence
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, verbal or diagram form
