Our Shelby, NC site is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to join their team!
This Manufacturing Engineer (Special Processes) provides technical support of surface treatment and plating operations. You will assist in gaining and maintaining aerospace surface treatment approvals and will be responsible for developing, documenting, and maintaining systems and procedures in support of the Special Processing department.

**Your Challenge:**
+ Develop, prepare, and maintain plating manufacturing process routings and process sheets.
+ Under general direction creates the design and implementation of plating racks, masking, fixtures, and tools to support processes.
+ Develop and implement manufacturing engineering procedures.
+ Implement and maintain work labor standards records, including engineering and estimation of run times for plating manufacturing processes.
+ Implementing continuous improvement of processes to provide most economical means of production.
+ Interpret customer specification changes and implement changes.
+ Provides technical support for plant layout, purchase of equipment, upgrade of equipment, and feasibility studies.
+ Comply with all the applicable Environmental and Safety regulations.
+ Comply with all internal, customer and Nadcap accreditation requirement.
+ Assist in support Nadcap accreditation audits.
+ Ability to understand and perform all chemical testing laboratory procedures.
+ Performs other assignments as directed by supervisor.
**What You Bring:**
+ Bachelors Degree in Manufacturing Engineering preferred, or technically related field experience considered.
+ Must be a US Citizen.
+ Experience with following special processes: Cadmium plating, Cadmium-Titanium plating, Chromium plating, Nickel plating, Zinc-Nickel, Passivation, Anodize and Chem Film application.
+ Hands-on application of organic coatings.
+ ACAS, Aerospace Coatings Application Specialist Certification preferred.
+ CEF, Certified Electro Plating Finisher and CAF, Certified Aerospace Finisher certification from the AESF preferred.
+ Proficiency in Truechem software applications
+ Proficiency in computer aided design applications
+ Knowledge of process verification and troubleshooting methods.
+ Ability to interpret chemical processing specifications and drawings.
+ Aerospace special processing background preferred.

- Quality Receiving and Inspection support. Receiving support (ensuring all container components are in house).

The primary purpose of this position is to lead all engineering activities and establish a mentality of process improvement within our distribution center. The Industrial Engineering Manager will work with the IE group, Facilities, and the Operations teams to improve process efficiency, maintain labor standards, and reduce costs. Their expertise will also be used to develop and implement regional and national projects and strategies across all of our divisions!
- Analyze and provide solutions for cost reduction through process improvements and cost/benefit analysis.
- Design and recommend department layouts and product flows.
- Identify operational bottlenecks and develop, analyze, and present cost-efficient solutions.
- Identify capacity impacts to distribution centers associated with varying parameters within the supply chain.
- Develop preferred methods/Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the warehouse in conjunction with Operational support.
- Establish and maintain standards using MOST and full cycle frequency studies across all operational processes. Utilizes labor data to cost rationalize capital expenditure and process change return on investment. Uses labor and material cost data to compare and recommend process change and communicate accurate process costs to senior management.
- Conduct ergonomic evaluations, recommending and implementing improvements to work area designs.
- Has the ability to take ideas from concept to implementation and can influence decision-making with all stake-holders. Possesses outstanding multi-tasking ability to meet concurrent project timelines.
Who Were Looking For: You.
- Five or more years of related Industrial Engineering experience and prior exposure managing a team, completing multi-variable work measurements and developing labor standards, process improvement initiatives, and network optimization projects within a distribution center environment.
- Previous experience with Distribution planning models (square footage, labor, staffing, etc.) and awareness of material handling technology applications is helpful
- MS Office Suite with strong MS Excel skills, MS Access, and Visio.
- Experience with best-in-class Labor Reporting Systems, MOST and Standards Pro. Experience with Red Prairie, Manhattan or equivalent LMS
- Excellent interpersonal skills, professional, and empathic.
