The Carshell Manager role requires oversight of the manufacturing processes of rail vehicle bodies, including managing and motivating a team, ensuring quality and efficiency in production, and maintaining strong customer relationships. Key responsibilities include reporting on progress and data, identifying and solving issues that hinder production, and implementing strategies to improve operations. This position demands a combination of technical knowledge, leadership skills, and operational and safety expertise, all aimed at ensuring efficient, high-quality production while optimizing costs.
Functions and responsibilities
+ Achievement of Objectives: Ensuring the punctual completion of carshell manufacturing and welding processes, adhering to established quality standards, and managing the operations within the allocated budget.

**Scope of Position:** This is a unique opportunity to gain cross-functional exposure across all facets of engineering, plant operations, and leadership. **Roles & Responsibilities:**
+ Collaboratively interact with engineering, quality, planning, plant leadership, and production/operations staff to meet production goals.
+ Prioritize and execute production schedules based on product manufacturing, equipment efficiency, and material supply.
+ Develop, implement, and sustain activities in the production area(s) to meet safety, quality, production, and cost objectives.
+ Maintain manufacturing metrics tracking and reporting.
+ Lead your team to achieve assignments using established goals, procedures, and policies.

**Requirements:**
+ Bachelor's degree in a technical or STEM discipline. Leadership experience is desired but not required.
+ Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

+ Strong decision-making skills.
+ Ability to collaborate across organizational boundaries and partner to develop and integrate solutions.

**What you'll do:**
The Manufacturing Engineer will drive measurable improvements in departmental performance through the development and implementation of advanced manufacturing processes, equipment, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
**Process & Equipment Development**
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of new manufacturing processes and capital equipment to enhance productivity and efficiency.
- Apply Lean, Six Sigma, and other advanced manufacturing methodologies to optimize operations.
**Technical Leadership**
- Provide technical direction and leadership for engineering projects, including in-house and subcontracted process development.

**Qualifications:**

**A Snapshot of Your Day**
In this on-site role, the primary responsibilities for the manufacturing engineer include developing new CNC Mills or Turning machining processes to support new and existing CNC Mills/Lathes and other machines. Experience with multi-axis CNC machines. Proficiency in CAD/CAM systems, PC skills including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook in a Windows environment, and experience with ERP systems. Experience with other software such as Python and C-Sharp are desirable. Follow up on jobs during the initial manufacturing Prepare detailed manufacturing instructions and programming data to produce machined parts and sub-assemblies to meet engineering drawings and specifications. Determine manufacturing procedures and operation sequencing and establish tooling, gauging, and machine requirements to fabricate parts and sub-assemblies for various products. Spend time in the production shops solving problems and improving processes associated with the parts you are responsible for. These problems may arise for many reasons, such as tooling, machine tools, gauging, and heat treating.
**How You'll Make an Impact**
+ Work effectively with various people and take the initiative to contact other groups when a problem solution is required. Support timely and efficient processing of parts through the shop by generating operation sheets and manufacturing procedures on assigned parts.
+ Assure compatibility of engineering drawings and specifications with manufacturing and fabrication capabilities by reviewing drawings and making suggestions for changes and revisions to enhance producibility.
+ Provide accurate and useable N/C programming tapes by converting detailed N/C program outlines into specific coded machine instructions.
+ Establish standard times for setup and run of each operation on assigned parts.
+ Originate studies directed towards more efficient manufacturing of parts. This includes recommendations for changes in equipment, process methods, materials, and designs.
+ Follow up on jobs during the initial manufacturing stage to ensure processing; effect revisions to tooling and processing as necessary. Prepare rework operation sheets for salvage of discrepant parts. Follow through with corrective action to reduce the possibility of the reoccurrence of discrepant parts. Establish tooling, gauging, and fixture concepts. Review and approve tool, gauging, and fixture design drawings. Prepare detailed operation sheets and N/C programs, making estimates of setup and run hours for production parts; estimate design and build hours for tooling.
**What You Bring**
+ Bachelor of Science Degree with 3+ years of Manufacturing Engineering or Manufacturing Technician experience (see below for substitute education/experience qualifications for the BA/BS degree) OR associate degree with 6+ years of Manufacturing Engineering or Manufacturing Technician experience.
+ 5 years CNC Programming and experience implementing and supporting CNC Milling and Turning Machining applications such as multi-axis vertical or horizontal machining center. Knowledge of industry safety standards and protocols.
+ CNC experience, with an advanced understanding of CNC processes and experience with multi-axis CNC machines.
+ Familiarity with CAD/CAM software, Macro B Programming, Python and C-Sharp.
+ Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles
