The Carshell Manager role requires oversight of the manufacturing processes of rail vehicle bodies, including managing and motivating a team, ensuring quality and efficiency in production, and maintaining strong customer relationships. Key responsibilities include reporting on progress and data, identifying and solving issues that hinder production, and implementing strategies to improve operations. **What you'll do:**
The Manufacturing Engineer will drive measurable improvements in departmental performance through the development and implementation of advanced manufacturing processes, equipment, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
**Process & Equipment Development**
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of new manufacturing processes and capital equipment to enhance productivity and efficiency.
- Apply Lean, Six Sigma, and other advanced manufacturing methodologies to optimize operations.
**Technical Leadership**
- Provide technical direction and leadership for engineering projects, including in-house and subcontracted process development.
- Solve complex technical challenges involving multiple engineering disciplines.
- Evaluate and present technical proposals, including feasibility studies, cost estimates, and design concepts.
**Project & Program Management**
- Coordinate and lead cross-functional teams in the execution of R&D and manufacturing initiatives.
- Manage project timelines, risks, costs, and scope changes in collaboration with supervisors and stakeholders.
- Ensure successful industrialization of new processes and technologies.
**Quality & Safety Compliance**
- Support deployment of the Eaton Quality System and Lean Six Sigma tools.

**Qualifications:**
Required (Basic) Qualifications:

The expected annual salary range for this role is $83250.0 - $122100.0 a year.

**What you'll do:**
The Manufacturing Engineer will drive measurable improvements in departmental performance through the development and implementation of advanced manufacturing processes, equipment, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
**Process & Equipment Development**
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of new manufacturing processes and capital equipment to enhance productivity and efficiency.
- Apply Lean, Six Sigma, and other advanced manufacturing methodologies to optimize operations.
**Technical Leadership**
- Provide technical direction and leadership for engineering projects, including in-house and subcontracted process development.
- Solve complex technical challenges involving multiple engineering disciplines.
- Evaluate and present technical proposals, including feasibility studies, cost estimates, and design concepts.
**Project & Program Management**
- Coordinate and lead cross-functional teams in the execution of R&D and manufacturing initiatives.
- Manage project timelines, risks, costs, and scope changes in collaboration with supervisors and stakeholders.
- Ensure successful industrialization of new processes and technologies.
**Quality & Safety Compliance**
- Support deployment of the Eaton Quality System and Lean Six Sigma tools.
- Promote and implement EHS initiatives, including MESH and ISO14001 compliance.
- Identify and address unsafe conditions and drive corrective actions.
**Communication & Reporting**
- Maintain regular communication with management on project progress, risks, and resource needs.
- Document and analyze test results for new or modified products and processes.
**Team Support**
- Provide backup supervision for hourly workforce as needed.
- Support cost-out and productivity improvement initiatives across the department.
**Qualifications:**
Required (Basic) Qualifications:
+ Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution
+ Minimum of 3 years of experience in CNC machining
+ Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution
+ Capital planning and cost out experience
+ Experience working in a union environment
**Skills:**
+ Must be highly proficient in the Microsoft Office suite programs, particularly Excel and Access, and statistical measurement tools
+ Knowledge of CAD programs (Pro-E, Solid Works Mastercam or Auto-CAD)
+ Basic programming software skills (ex. Lab View)
+ Expertise in CNC Machining and Programming
+ Excellent oral and written communication skills

In this on-site role, the primary responsibilities for the manufacturing engineer include developing new CNC Mills or Turning machining processes to support new and existing CNC Mills/Lathes and other machines. Follow up on jobs during the initial manufacturing Prepare detailed manufacturing instructions and programming data to produce machined parts and sub-assemblies to meet engineering drawings and specifications. Determine manufacturing procedures and operation sequencing and establish tooling, gauging, and machine requirements to fabricate parts and sub-assemblies for various products. Spend time in the production shops solving problems and improving processes associated with the parts you are responsible for. These problems may arise for many reasons, such as tooling, machine tools, gauging, and heat treating.

+ Work effectively with various people and take the initiative to contact other groups when a problem solution is required. Support timely and efficient processing of parts through the shop by generating operation sheets and manufacturing procedures on assigned parts.
+ Assure compatibility of engineering drawings and specifications with manufacturing and fabrication capabilities by reviewing drawings and making suggestions for changes and revisions to enhance producibility.
+ Provide accurate and useable N/C programming tapes by converting detailed N/C program outlines into specific coded machine instructions.
+ Establish standard times for setup and run of each operation on assigned parts.
+ Originate studies directed towards more efficient manufacturing of parts. This includes recommendations for changes in equipment, process methods, materials, and designs.
+ Follow up on jobs during the initial manufacturing stage to ensure processing; effect revisions to tooling and processing as necessary. Prepare rework operation sheets for salvage of discrepant parts. Follow through with corrective action to reduce the possibility of the reoccurrence of discrepant parts. Establish tooling, gauging, and fixture concepts. Review and approve tool, gauging, and fixture design drawings. Prepare detailed operation sheets and N/C programs, making estimates of setup and run hours for production parts; estimate design and build hours for tooling.
**What You Bring**
+ Bachelor of Science Degree with 3+ years of Manufacturing Engineering or Manufacturing Technician experience (see below for substitute education/experience qualifications for the BA/BS degree) OR associate degree with 6+ years of Manufacturing Engineering or Manufacturing Technician experience.
+ 5 years CNC Programming and experience implementing and supporting CNC Milling and Turning Machining applications such as multi-axis vertical or horizontal machining center. Knowledge of industry safety standards and protocols.
+ CNC experience, with an advanced understanding of CNC processes and experience with multi-axis CNC machines.
+ Familiarity with CAD/CAM software, Macro B Programming, Python and C-Sharp.
+ Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles
