This role supports manufacturing functions for Commercial HVAC products at Trane's Fort Smith, Arkansas facility. The Manufacturing Engineer I will assist with complex technical issues and finding rapid solutions. They will support lean activities and process improvements through the planning, facilitation, and implementation of projects in alignment with strategic goals and metrics for plant safety, quality, delivery, and productivity. The Manufacturing Engineer I is also responsible for the implementation and validation of new equipment and processes throughout the business to improve plant performance using advanced engineering techniques such as DFM / DFA (Design for Manufacturability and Assembly), FMEA, 3P (Production, Preparation Process), 7-Ways, and Lean Six Sigma Methodology

**What you will do:**
+ Project Capital planning, Business Case creation
+ Assists in managing 5-Gate projects including Business Case, Capital, Expense, and resources to assure milestones are met timely and within the approved budget and resource plan
+ Drives productivity and business growth through problem solving, coaching, and training
+ Conduct tests or trials of tools, equipment, and processes
+ Create and update Standard Work Charts, JBSs, Work Instructions, PFMEAs
+ Evaluate production capacities
+ Apply knowledge of engineering principles and practices on safety and ergonomic improvements.
+ Lead problem solving projects to support the shop floor and develop new or improved tools and processes (workstation design, material presentation, etc.)
+ Create reports and presentations to update stakeholders and management on project status and progress

  • Contribute to Waste Identification in Manufacturing Processes
  • Participation on Structured Kaizen Events
  • Standardized Work Improvements Across Multiple manufacturing lines
  • Operator Station Layout development and Implementation
  • Part Presentation Flow Rack Design and Implementation
  • Provide support in problem solving activities (JDI, Quick Hit teams, PAB issues, etc.)
  • Participate and develop line balances for new product designs and/or potential line rate changes
  • Participate and develop manifest systems for single cell areas and potentially full manufacturing line
  • Construct Time Studies on existing product
  • Potentially support the development of a small/large scale material delivery system.

Qualifications

    The general laborer position is responsible for performing tasks on recently-slaughtered turkeys or tasks that support the overall operations within the department.

    Available Jobs

    Applicants for the Production Associate job may be offered a position in any of the following departments:

    Evisceration - Shift Start Time approximately 3:00 PM. Evisceration Production Associates perform tasks to clean and eviscerate (remove the organs of) recently-slaughtered turkeys to prepare for additional processing and packaging. Essential duties include: perform varying manual, repetitive tasks to remove organs and parts from slaughtered turkeys; perform repetitive tasks with assistance of tools, such as knives and scissors, to remove organs and parts from slaughtered turkeys; train to proficiency to rotate through jobs and perform multiple tasks within the department; perform any job in the department at the supervisor’s discretion. Assigned job duties may change and vary day-to-day depending upon production needs.

    Packaging - Shift Start Time approximately 5:00 PM. The general laborer position is responsible for performing tasks on chilled raw turkeys or tasks that support the overall operations within the department. Essential duties include: perform various tasks to include repetitive manual labor to package chilled raw turkeys in preparation for shipment to customers. Other jobs may include repetitive manual labor to sort, box, label, and palletize packaged raw turkeys in preparation for shipment to customers. Some jobs are performed with the assistance of tools or automated equipment while other jobs are performed by hand. Some jobs are required to complete HACCP and other checks and record appropriately. Evisceration Production Associates perform tasks to clean and eviscerate (remove the organs of) recently-slaughtered turkeys to prepare for additional processing and packaging. Essential duties include: perform varying manual, repetitive tasks to remove organs and parts from slaughtered turkeys; perform repetitive tasks with assistance of tools, such as knives and scissors, to remove organs and parts from slaughtered turkeys; train to proficiency to rotate through jobs and perform multiple tasks within the department; perform any job in the department at the supervisor’s discretion. Assigned job duties may change and vary day-to-day depending upon production needs.

    Packaging - Shift Start Time approximately 5:00 PM. The general laborer position is responsible for performing tasks on chilled raw turkeys or tasks that support the overall operations within the department. Essential duties include: perform various tasks to include repetitive manual labor to package chilled raw turkeys in preparation for shipment to customers. Other jobs may include repetitive manual labor to sort, box, label, and palletize packaged raw turkeys in preparation for shipment to customers.
