**Job Title:** Quality Control Inspector (Ready To Ship - RTS)
**FLSA Status:** Non-exempt
**Summary:**
Inspect parts, products and/or processes to insure conformance with standards. Inspects
materials or products using fixed or variable measuring instruments. Checks for irregularities
and defects. Compares product with parts list to ensure completion of assembly. Verifies
specified dimensions on product or material by performing the following duties.
**Essential Duties and Responsibilities** include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Inspect each home when notified it is "Ready and Complete" by Final
Finish Supervisor. "Ready and Complete" means that all work and final
cleaning has been done.
- Utilize check sheet and inspect each room and exterior for obvious cosmetic defects.
- Ensure that the unit meets cleanliness standards for shipping.
- Follow-up on repairs- they will be continuous. RTS person will personally inspect each item
written up on the check sheet to verify that a quality repair has been made and that no other
damage happens during the repair process and/or any additional clean-up is necessary
- Verify all ship loose material is loaded per ship loose check sheet.
- Coordinates with engineering, sales and manufacturing personnel to effectively resolve
problems related to product design, materials, specifications and/or manufacturing
operations.
- Ensures all quality control policies, procedures, directives and systems within compliance of
company and/or applicable federal regulations, continually strives to increase the level of
quality assurance within the facility.
- Ensures all safety policies and procedures are followed in accordance with guidelines
established by the Company in accordance with OSHA regulations.

The main responsibility of a Quality Control Technician is to verify that an organization's products and services meet industry and government standards.
Employee will be responsible for, but not limited to the following:
+ Wash drain weights
+ Net weights
+ Residual gas analysis
+ Internal pressure test on all retort loads (pouches)
+ Product characteristic analysis
+ 72-hour test analysis on all products as per military specs.

How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)

As an Associate Manufacturing Engineer you support objectives in terms of safety, quality, production, delivery, and cost reduction through continuous improvement of the plant manufacturing processes. You are responsible for supporting Manufacturing and carrying out assigned projects utilizing Manufacturing and Industrial Engineering techniques. We are looking for someone that can support 2nd Shift.
What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)
While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:
1. Operations
- Complete workplace improvements, methods, and layouts
- Work closely with leadership and associates to determine feasibility of improvements/projects and provide data or information for accurate decisions.
- Support leadership, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and machine and workforce requirements to facilitate production processes.
2. Technical Support
- Complete time studies and data development for rates, line balancing and cost estimates
- Develop and implement standard work instructions.
- Analyze reports and data collected to determine and recommend changes in methods, tooling, and/or equipment to more fully utilize workforce and time to increase productivity, quality, or product value.
- Analyze and plan work force utilization, space requirements, workflow, designs layout of equipment, workspace for efficiency, safety and ergonomic improvements.
3. Projects & Continuous Improvement
- Coordinate a variety of projects from inception through completion and follow-up.
- Develop capital appropriation requests (E201) with supporting EVA calculations as well as project management leadership.
- Confer with vendors to determine product specifications and arranges for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards.
- Support and expand Lean culture and implementation throughout the plant.
- Participate in other projects as assigned that relate to the overall goals of the plant.

We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:
Required Experience
- Bachelor's degree in manufacturing engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field. Master's degree is a plus.
- Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to define problems, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Problems solving and data analysis skills (8D, 5Y, statistics, etc.)
- Must have Strong computer skills with excellent skills in Microsoft Office applications. Able to develop summary graphs, tables, pivot tables, and other reports using PowerPoint, Excel and Word
- Knowledge and experience in One-piece flow: balancing, pacing and improved through-put, Visual factory; KPIs, and pacing boards
- Solid foundation/understanding of manufacturing financial metrics - working capital, Raw/WIP/FGI inventory, inventory turns, productivity, efficiency, order fill rate, on-time delivery, etc.
- Knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma principles
- Experience working in an Assembly and/or Sheet Metal Fabrication manufacturing environment is a plus
- Demonstrates strong mathematical and analytical skills
- Experience with design-for-manufacturing methods
- Ability to direct, mentor, train, operators, and others in a team based environment
- Understanding of the process of engineering revisions, engineering change notices, engineering deviations and the corresponding impact on manufacturing
- Understanding of inventory control techniques and knowledge of implications of BOM accuracy, inventory accuracy, and material transactions/movement within the factory
- Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Ability to support and work 2nd Shift , Strongly preferred.
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field of study (Engineering, Business) is strongly preferred.

- Minimal travel (<10%) that includes visits to other facilities, vendors and training.

WHAT WILL YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES BE
This role reports to the Manufacturing Manager and in this role:
+ You're a born leader: You will be managing manufacturing activities by leading and motivating shift employees in all areas including safety, efficiency, loss management, quality, and continuous improvement (WCM). Moreover, you will be driving Unilever SHE culture by protecting employee's health and safety, ensuring compliance of all regulatory and plant safety rules.
+ You transform data into actions: You will review the production schedule, review the shift change log and confer with scheduling to determine any priority changes in production and to assess any potential obstacles to the successful completion of the schedule. You do deep analysis of productivity losses to create long term action plans for sustainable improvements.
+ You lead & inspire bold creative work: You will have an active role in employee relations programs on your hourly team members and drive positive employee relations through various reward and recognition programs.
+ You execute flawlessly, track & optimize: You will work closely with hourly leadership and provide clear direction for them to carry out the duties of their job. You will provide feedback to these Area leaders in order to improve the efficient operation of the shift including the assignment of labor, completion of data collection activities and the management of daily operations.
Main Duties and responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
+ Confidently make decisions to help meet safety, quality, and production goals.
+ Follow documented process instructions, schedule, and manage multi-shift team for six deodorant packing lines or four personal care liquids packing lines in accordance with production plans.
+ Ensure Packing department follows all safety and SDS guidelines for dealing with raw and pack materials and finished products.
+ Review and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) for Packing.
+ Ensure that all department and factory cGMP's are followed.
+ Develop flexibility in team members through cross training.
+ Focus on team engagement to achieve continuous improvement in production efficiency.
+ Drive kaizen/ continuous improvement work together with Process Engineers and other team members to improve productivity and service.
+ Responsible for both operations and maintenance of the department, driving productivity improvement, maintenance losses reduction, robust maintenance plans and maintenance cost control and improvement.
+ Collaborate with appropriate departments and support.
+ Assesses and control labor costs for the department.
+ Evaluate and investigate material waste related to packing lines, creating robust action plans to drive waste reduction.
+ teams to solve problems and respond to concerns/ issues.
+ Direct the work of the shift's team to build efficiency, cross training, safer work practices and attainment of quality goals
+ Communicate to all team members, scheduling and other members of management to ensure expectations and/or difficulties are clear.
+ Monitor and evaluate potential team members, as well as interviewing potential candidates for hire.
+ Hold team member accountable to follow operating procedures, operating as appropriated and expected and drive disciplinary actions and performance coaching as applicable.
What You'll Need To Succeed
+ Bachelor's Degree preferably in a Technical discipline such as Engineering
+ A minimum 3 year of experience in a manufacturing environment
