Requirements

  • B.S. in Engineering (Chemical Engineering degree preferred) or closely related technical field. Masters degree a plus.
  • Minimum 8 years of applicable manufacturing industry experience including a supervisory role with at least 2 years of direct responsibility for a production unit including production, maintenance, cost control, financial results and safety.
  • Management / leadership experience in a union environment strongly preferred.
  • Experience in a chemical processing plant strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with ISO 9000, RC 14000, IATF 16949 a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills. Ability to effectively interact with all levels of an organization. Ability to provide clear and concise oral and written work instructions. Strong financial acumen with the ability to analyze cost reports, identify trends, construct accurate budgets/forecasts and manage costs.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to extract, evaluate, and utilize data for process improvement from applicable systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to formulate and implement process improvements.
  • Capable of influencing, advocating and driving change in a business organization. Ability to lead multifunction teams to drive business improvements.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage many competing demands requiring close coordination with employees and the ability to effectively set and deliver results.

Seeking candidate to fulfill an opening as a Vehicle Operations Engineering (VME) Final Assembly Engineering (FAE) Manufacturing Engineer. Selected candidate will be responsible for driving quality improvements and warranty reductions in our assembly plants, as well as prevent recurrence actions for future programs.
VME FAE is responsible for driving current model quality and ensuring future programs are launched with zero defects and zero warranty at Job 1. The team is responsible for driving current model quality concerns (reducing R/1000), managing VME responsibilities for minor programs and running changes at our assembly plants, and leading the implementation of tools/technologies/error proofing to improve quality and to resolve process/manufacturing related issues.
**Responsibilities:**
+ Lead data driven and plant floor analysis of current model quality concerns and/or process/manufacturing related issues
+ Identify, develop, and deliver ICAs, PCAs, and PRAs for current model quality concerns and/or process/manufacturing related issues
+ Operate cross functionally with Plant Engineering, Product Development, Vehicle Program Engineers, Quality Offices, STA, VME FAE Core and Manufacturing Program Teams, and other groups throughout the company
+ Engage SMEs and groups/engineers within different teams (FAE and otherwise) for assistance in driving Quality
+ Utilize data from VRT health charts to prioritize response actions that drive largest R/1000 reductions
+ Lead report outs to management
+ Represent VME FAE at VRT functions, supporting as required
+ Lead implementation of tools/technologies/error proofing to improve quality and to resolve process/manufacturing related issues
+ Manage VME responsibilities for minor programs and running changes at assembly plants which include, but are not limited to, assessing manufacturing feasibility, estimating facility and tooling costs, updating engineering concerns, and writing of purchase orders.
+ Perform in-plant trials and prove-out associated with engineering concerns, MCR actions, alerts and PSOs.
+ Support GSPAS, PFMEA and control plan updates, delta audits, GERT investigations, ECN maintenance, change control and VME initiatives tied to current model programs
+ Provide support for containment on stop ships
+ Assist with incoming quality
+ Support daily quality meetings, weekly regional meetings, plant VQRs, and warranty binning meetings
+ Support corporate labor initiatives
**Basic Qualification:**
+ Bachelor's degree (Engineering Based Preferred)
+ Experience w/automotive assembly tooling, processes, and facilities
+ Must be open to travel as needed to support our North American Assembly Plants and the FAE quality team members who are stationed at these plants
+ Strong Project Management skills and result-oriented mindset
+ Six Sigma Black Belt
+ Strong computer skills (Excel, Power Point, etc.)
+ 3D CAD review abilities (Teamcenter, VisMockup, CATIA, or equivalent)

Quality Control Manager
The Quality Control Manager plans, directs and coordinates all on-site QC activities to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and requirements. 
Principal Duties and Accountabilities:   

  • Create, update and maintain the project submittal log and all other project specific quality control reports.
  • Review shop drawings and submittals for conformance with project specifications by direct review and by leveraging the knowledge and experience of others in the project team when necessary.
  • Chair and document weekly QC meetings with the superintendent and provide written minutes as described in project specific contract documents.
  • Provide daily QC reports that reinforce activities that are being constructed in conformance with each specific project's established standard and constructively confronts non-conformances to produce the desired outcome in a timely manner.
  • Conduct preparatory, initial and follow-up meetings to establish an understanding of the standards of care desired for each definable feature of work.
  • Verify and document that all materials received for the project are in conformance with the approved submittal, are handled and stored appropriately and are acceptable for use in the project.
  • Conduct preconstruction meetings with new and existing subcontractors and the superintendent at least two days prior to the start of each new phase of the work to discuss issues that affect quality.
  • Coordinate and document the testing and commissioning of building systems.
  • Maintain the project "as-built" drawings on a daily basis.
  • Assemble and forward project closeout documents that include O&M manuals, as-builts and warranties.
  • Stop work if necessary to resolve matters that affect safety, quality and/or inhibit the logical progress of work.
  • Facilitate the commissioning process.
  • Conduct upfront investigation to help foresee unusual installation requirements and expedite the inspection/sign off procedures.
  • Push back when requests are made outside the scope of the contract. 
  • Find cost efficient ways to fulfill contract requirements related to specification conformance and system sign off. 
  • Be an active participant of finding a solution when QC issues arise.

Job Scope: 
The Quality Control Manager will have direct oversight and review of the entire documentation and physical inspection phase of the workflow process and while working with internal and external stakeholders to produce and document a quality product.

Education & Experience:
  • B.S. degree in engineering or construction management.
  • Minimum five years of related experience.
  • Combination of high school diploma with QC experience and certifications will be considered.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities :
  • Knowledge of a wide range of construction materials, methods, and techniques.
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills, such as diplomacy, persuasion, are essential to develop and foster effective professional relationships.

Benefits and Compensation:
  • The range for this position has been established at $88,880 to $125,500 and is US Engineering’s good faith and reasonable estimate at the time of the posting. The compensation offered to the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.
  • Your total compensation will go beyond the number on your paycheck. Team members are eligible for a year-end bonus based on company and/or individual performance as well as paid time off. An industry-leading benefits package including health, dental, and vision plans, matching retirement contributions, and matching 529 contributions all add to your bottom line.

Conducts security inspections on buildings, grounds, and trailers. Monitors inbound and outbound trailers entering and exiting the facility via computer applications. Reports unusual activity to appropriate management.
Creates and issues all new and replacement associate badges and visitor badges.
Complies with company policies, procedures, and standards of ethics and integrity by implementing related action plans; using the Open Door Policy; and applying these in executing business processes and practices.
