Pay Range:

FUCHS offers competitive pay commensurate with experience in a similar position. The range for this position is $2 - 24 per hour, but actual compensation will vary depending upon a new hire's experience and qualifications as well as internal equity. You will also receive mileage reimbursement and an automobile allowance. Time on the road is compensated.

The schedule:

There is 1 opening available on the day shift (7:00 AM - 3:00 PM)with an additional 5-10 hours/week overtime as needed (including travel).

Your Responsibilities:

As a member of the FUCHS Smart Services (FSS) team, you will be part of a driven community focused on delivering world-class solutions that help propel our customers forward. The FUCHS Smart Services Technician III is responsible for the care and maintenance of our clients' industrial fluids, including coolants, washes, and other fluids, across four customer bases in North Carolina. Your primary activities will involve sampling & testing fluids, managing inventory, & maintaining fluid-related systems and equipment.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Collect samples from industrial fluid systems and perform laboratory testing, making corrections based on results


  • Operate and perform routine preventive maintenance on lubrication and fluid decantation systems, including filter changes and system cleanings


  • Check and record system fluid levels, maintaining the proper fluid level on each system


  • Input data daily and generate performance reports.


  • Conduct daily product inventory audits to ensure adequate supply chain requirements


  • Handle materials, operate lift trucks, and move drums and totes


  • Follow procedures and adhere to all customer and safety requirements


  • Participate in daily communication meetings with site manager and other technicians, and communicate effectively


  • Review daily compliance reporting and work with other onsite technicians


Travel

  • This role requires daily travel within a 2-hour radius to support service requirements


Qualifications we are looking for:

  • Previous work experience working in manufacturing environment related to lubricants and/or laboratory testing preferred.


  • Prior experience leading a team is desired


  • Standing and/or walking for approximately 4-8 hours daily.


  • Computer knowledge and the ability to navigate the internet and email


  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs as well as standing and/or walking for approximately 4-8 hours daily


  • Previous forklift experience is desired

Manufacturing Associates are responsible for raw materials, in- process ware flow, subassemblies, and

**Major Responsibilities:**
Beginning of shift check with Manufacturing Coordinator regarding assignments and production priorities
Responsible for assembling shop papers, MI's and raw materials prior to start up.
Start up and change overs are per standard operating procedure
Monitor lines while running to ensure quality product, perform necessary PQA checks to ensure product is
manufactured to specification.
Associates are required to report non conformance
Ensure work space is 5S ready, clean and orderly
Associates are expected to know performance metrics and work toward targeted objectives
May perform weekly associate maintenance.
Associates should proactively report any equipment issues as soon as they become aware.
Perform preventive maintenance procedures, may occasionally troubleshoot
Assist RD&E with experiments as requested
Loading and unloading raw materials.
Attention to consistent material handling procedures with an awareness of safe material transport according
to environmental and hazardous materials protocols
Receiving materials to stock, storing, issuing raw materials and miscellaneous items for production use
while maintaining inventory accuracy using cycle counts and daily transactions.
Properly label and package reels for shipment to customer.
Verify QC paper work, barcode and data sheets, with reel tag.
Physically inspect reel via traverse, damage, and print statement
Work in a team environment to optimize output of quality product, assist others as necessary, and promote
safety awareness

Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings - carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
**Purpose of Position:**

2. Drive transformational improvement in manufacturing locations through the integration of varied PEx and Lean philosophies, concepts, and tools focused on achieving excellence in manufacturing processes.
3. Expectation is that the person will work in Lean Transformation for the next 6 to 24 months and then transfer into a new role with the purpose of deploying Lean concepts across the organization and to enable organization readiness to quickly respond to changes in the business.
**Major Roles and Responsibilities:**

2. Work with sites to identify and execute transformational projects aimed at meeting business objectives.
3. Establish PEx and Lean strategies to drive deployment of projects that align with business initiatives
4. Train and mentor site personnel on specific methodology usage associated with deployment of manufacturing capabilities
5. Work with senior leadership and divisional network to ensure synergy with business priorities and corporate models.
6. The manufacturing capabilities will drive continuous improvement in Quality, Cost and Delivery across the division. The pace and sustainability of deployment will impact the short term and long-term profit of the division.
7. This position will be looked at to provide guidance and validation of decisions to make major manufacturing changes, often during times when there is heavy workload. An incorrect decision can have a significant impact on plant throughput and customer service. A correct decision can yield millions of dollars in cost reduction, margins from increased capacity, and reduced inventories.

**Role Purpose**
**By applying to this role, you agree that you are available to be a Section Supervisor at either the Hickory, NC, Newton, NC or Trivium, NC Site as selected by the hiring team.
Responsible for leading and managing a group of front-line supervisors and hourly associates. This role will have direct responsibility for safety, quality, cost, delivery, and team morale. This position includes both direct and indirect reports along with cross-functional partnership with engineering and maintenance.
**Key Responsibilities**
+ Drive results through manufacturing performance and deliver daily, weekly, and monthly production metrics (must be able to quickly identify bottlenecks, work through changes in staffing, and manage/maintain proper queue levels for efficient operations).
+ Manage and control department overtime and understand associated spend (use overtime as a lever where needed, while also understanding the trigger point to hire in order to effectively balance cost).
+ Maintain the department staffing model (address critical gaps in staffing, anticipate changes in staffing based on capacity additions, and drive labor efficiency improvements through cross-training efforts).
+ Partner with planning and scheduling resources to ensure proper execution of the production plan provided for the week and for the month. This collaboration drives department OTM (on time to manufacture) and customer facing OTP (on time to promise) metrics. Be able to manage large product/process changeovers, equipment upgrades, experiments with engineering, and required maintenance activities.
+ Support operational readiness activities for major equipment upgrades and department specific new product introductions. Champion change while continuing to meet production targets.
+ Identify and understand critical bottleneck processes within the operation (partner with the lean organization to drive operational improvements, specific to availability gains in OEE through setup time reduction and unplanned downtime).
+ Provide leadership and direct supervision to both direct reports and indirect manufacturing teams. Hold the team accountable to clear metrics centered around improving safety and quality performance through individual and department scorecards.
+ Deploy Corning's talent management programs within the department to effectively attract, develop, and maintain manufacturing talent, ensure that all salaried employees have training and development plans.
**Required Education and Experience**
+ Bachelor of Science (technical or business degree preferred).
+ Minimum of 5 years experience in manufacturing with proven track record of leadership progression.
+ Highly motivated, results-oriented, and with a high commitment level to the business and department.
+ Energetic, effective under pressure, and can respond positively to constructive feedback.
+ Direct people management experience (for both salaried and non-exempt employees) with demonstrated leadership skills of conflict resolution, coaching, active listening, and employee effectiveness.
+ Experience with developing, implementing, and driving results through critical manufacturing metrics (including safety, quality, cost, delivery, and morale).
**Desired Education and Experience**
+ MBA or advanced technical graduate degree.
+ Certified Six Sigma DMAIC Green Belt and/or demonstrated Lean capabilities.
+ Experience in collaborating, interfacing, and communicating upward and outward.
+ Has participated or led a cross-functional team in manufacturing environment responsible to deliver key improvement initiative or cost reduction program.
+ Experience and competence of innovation and new product development and delivery, has participated or led a project team responsible to develop and/or launch a new product into manufacturing.
+ Experience managing the talent development strategy for the department, including programs to attract, develop, and retain key talent.

Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
