**Position Summary** **:**
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for engineering related tasks within the discipline of the hiring department under the guidance of more senior department personnel. Utilizes learned skills to assist the production department to become more efficient. This effort includes, but is not limited to, sets up and operates production equipment for troubleshooting programs, process validation. This individual works with department managers, supervisors, and operators to ensure product quality and throughput.
**Essential Functions** **:**
+ Applies machine programming skills learned (as applicable within the discipline of the hiring department)
+ Sets up and operate production equipment as needed to either troubleshoot programs, prove out processes or perform Operation Qualification studies
+ Writes IQ, OQ & PQ protocols compliant with existing SOP's with assistance from more senior personnel
+ Leads projects of moderate scope for existing families of production
+ Coordinates cross-functional teams to execute and document the manufacturing launch of new/legacy products
+ Supports the development and optimization of manufacturing processes required to accurately and efficiently make spinal implants, from raw material to final cleaning and shipment
+ Develops and completes manufacturing documentation (pFMEA, control plan, process flow, work instructions, and inspection plans)
+ Drives machine/equipment efficiency thru cycle time reduction, waste elimination, tooling improvements, and changeover reductions
+ Performs product/process analysis and troubleshooting for cost reduction, quality improvement, and improved efficiency
+ Designs, develops, tests, sources, and cost-justify various tools, machinery, and equipment for recommended manufacturing methods
+ Supports design for manufacturability analysis with CNC Programmers and Quality Engineers, and provide input to Development (Design) Engineers
+ Provides suggestions on how to improve product quality and throughput
+ Performs all work in accordance with oral instructions in conformance with company standards including, safety, workmanship, and good housekeeping practices
+ Adheres to the letter and spirit of the company Code of Conduct, the AdvaMed Code, MedTech Code, and all other company policies
+ Ensures Compliance with applicable governmental laws, rules, and regulations, both in the United States and internationally, by completing introductory and annual training and maintaining knowledge of compliance as it applies to your role

**Qualifications** **:**
+ Machining technology degree, or mechanical engineering degree, or a minimum of two years of hands-on experience as a Manufacturing Engineer within the discipline of the hiring department.
+ Capable of utilizing CAM software and tooling knowledge to create CNC programs (as applicable)
+ Understanding of the operations within the discipline of the hiring department.
+ Capable of utilizing inspection equipment to verify products produced within the discipline of the hiring department.
+ Possess the ability to work under the guidance of a Manufacturing Engineer II or a Senior Manufacturing Engineer.
+ Be capable of executing project functions independently with minimal guidance.
+ Be well organized and possesses the ability to multi-task as required

+ Respond to daily, monthly and annual metrics to work with the local Value Stream Manager to analyze effectiveness and recommend improvements to present machinery operations, tool designs, production methods and machine control to improve process capability. + Identify and solve problems in the value stream by collaborating with cross functional groups to investigate Safety and Quality issues. + Capital Expense: Lead the execution implementation of capital expense projects from quote to IQOQPQ with minimal guidance. Participate in annual budgeting process and execute emergency capital expense.
+ Create documentation to facilitate implementation of automated processes, commercialized incremental and new product and new equipment during the transition to production with guidance. This work may collaborate with Developmental Engineering and the Automation Group. Be able to lead automation projects and or recommend areas for automation in the value stream.
+ Lead initiatives to improve total preventative maintenance, ensuring critical equipment is understood and the risk of unplanned downtime is minimized or mitigated.
+ Maintain an increased awareness of customer and industry technical requirements and basic business acumen regarding the business impact of technical decisions. This includes the strategies of the local and global Enterprise Value Stream. Work cross functionally with on-site groups as well as global elements of the value stream including Developmental Engineering. In depth knowledge of the materials and the equipment in the value stream including new product development is expected.
+ Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
+ Ensure compliance with safety and quality regulations of the industry served by the value stream. Be a role model in demonstrating compliance and exhibiting and rewarding behaviors that comply with SQDC metrics.
+ Continue to develop professional skills in Continuous Improvement including Lean Practitioner and/or Lean Six Sigma Programs and value stream events. LSS Green Belt and or some level of Lean Practitioner training is desired in this role.

- Four-year college degree in an Engineering discipline preferred. Two Year college degree and/or five years engineering support experience required.
- Five or more years of experience in an engineering support position.
- Uses best practices and Knowledge of internal/external business issues to improve processes, products or services in own function
- Effectively manages small projects or sub-teams, including coordination of resources outside of own area. Forecast and plan resource requirements of small projects or sub-teams.
- Monitors and controls costs within own work and may manage cost for small projects or areas.

Job Description
In this role you will support the Production Integrated Product Team (IPT) as a process engineer assigned to a support process capability development and optimization for a specific product line as it goes through spiral development maturating into high rate production. You will integrate factory process data of each spiral as it is produced to plan, develop and implement optimizations and efficiencies. Additionally, you will investigate efficiency losses/issue corrective actions to establish a stable, repetitive, and high-rate production line.
**Summary of key duties for this position:**
- You will create manufacturing processes, procedures, and production layouts for an advanced machining environment.
- You will represent manufacturing in peer reviews of engineering drawings to enhance the design for manufacturability.
- You will write production plans, inspect and assess defective hardware, and optimize production flow to meet program deliverables.
- You will communicate with shop floor personnel to implement process improvements and gain efficiencies.
- You will create tool designs, analyze shop performance, and support Quality Assurance in root cause analysis and corrective actions for process-related defects.
- You will support development and production of weapon systems, ground support equipment, and satellite electronics boxes.
- Travel may be required.
- Weekend or off-hour support may be required to support production schedules.

**Desired Skills:**
- Demonstrated understanding of lean manufacturing techniques and principles as well as work measurements and labor standards.

- Working understanding of machining processes, methodologies, and equipment.
- Demonstrated experience generating manufacturing work instructions and production processes.
- Ability to read and interpret G-code.
- Experience in SAP is a plus.
- Demonstrated interpersonal and collaboration skills required in a team environment.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office.
- Practical experience with Creo.
- Active Top Secret security clearance is desired.
