Position Summary

The quality auditor is an essential role in the manufacturing industry. The quality auditor ensures the consistent production of quality products. This is accomplished by performing quality checks at each production stage including testing of the product, documenting the results of each audit, and assisting in a variety of other duties.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Auditing of processes, procedures, and product:

  • Perform quality inspections of the product at every stage of production. It is estimated that 80% of your time shall be on the production floor evaluating the quality of each item produced to meet the required specifications.

  • Verification that production is meeting the requirements of each production job.

  • Maintain quality records by properly completing the required audit and quality forms.

  • Pull samples for both internal testing and customer needs.

  • Testing of raw materials, product, and equipment:

  • Perform testing of products in a timely manner

  • Evaluate the results of testing to meet specifications, and report results back to operations when they do not meet defined requirements

  • Document results of completed testing in electronic format, and file any paper documents

  • Assist with the maintenance and calibration of all testing equipment.

  • Management of Non-Conforming products and incoming materials:

  • Understand the cause of basic nonconforming defects, and communicate findings to operators and supervisors

  • Assist in establishing disposition and sorting limits/guidelines of non-conforming product

  • Monitoring sorting process, assisting when necessary to ensure correct re-work of product

  • Reporting and communication of daily observations and findings:

  • Report the results of performed audits and testing to all operations at the end of each shift

  • Communicate found issues immediately to machine operators and supervisors as needed

  • Provide support to the Department and the Organization:

The process development and manufacturing manager is responsible for managing process development and manufacturing associated projects supporting clinical and commercial manufacturing.

  • Responsible for department management, hiring, training, and coaching
  • Adherence to quality systems, SOPs, and batch records for GLP and GMP toxicology and clinical studies
  • Ensure continuation of equipment service contracts and internal equipment maintenance
  • Plan team schedule around process development and manufacturing activities
  • Coordinate activities with other departments to ensure seamless collaborations
  • Materials management activities, including following the vendor approval process as well as the material approval process and raw material dossier management
  • Other duties/responsibilities as assigned
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position has direct supervisory responsibilities

Education, Experience and Certifications:
  • Master’s degree and 3+ years of relevant experience OR Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of relevant experience
  • 3 years of directly managing people in a highly regulated biologic/pharmaceutical   manufacturing environment
  • 5 years’ experience with biologic purification techniques including filtration, chromatography, UF/DF
  • 5 years’ experience with biologic process intermediate assays including SEC, SDS-PAGE, bioburden, endotoxin, and ELISA
  • Certifications or training associated with pharmaceutical development or manufacture preferred (e.g. risk analysis, visual inspection, aseptic processing, etc.)
  • Membership in industry organizations (PDA, ISPE, etc.) preferred
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Critical thinker who can analyze and interpret data
  • Ability to manage and complete projects assigned
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Physical Demands/Working Conditions:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, lift, stand, sit for extended periods of time and to lift arms above head for periods of time. This job requires an ability to work in a regular laboratory setting and an aseptic environment from time to time.
Ability to wear a negative air respirator or powered air purifying respirator.
Ability to regularly lift  up to 25 pounds and to also lift 50 to over 100 pounds with mechanical means. Specific vision abilities required by this individual include close vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Working Environment:
 Duties will be performed in normal laboratory, ISO 7 or ISO 8 environment, and BSL2 laboratory settings. Occasional work in ab aseptic setting, ISO5 environment.

Alcom LLC, the #1 Aluminum trailer manufacturer in North America, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Production Supervisor to oversee our manufacturing operations in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing production processes, ensuring quality standards, and leading a team of skilled workers to achieve production goals efficiently and safely.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversees a line of production staff from welders to finishers to meet daily production targets. Balances quality, productivity, cost, safety, and morale to achieve positive results.
  • Oversees the employee schedule to ensure adequate labor is available to meet production targets. Maintains the labor rate within the established range and seeks to improve efficiencies.
  • Manages the performance of subordinates by setting expectations and goals; ensures that employees are provided both positive and constructive feedback promptly.
  • Train, mentor, and evaluate production staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and teamwork.
  • Ensures that communication is sufficient from the lead technician to the Production Manager.
  • Reviews work orders to identify potential issues to avoid production delays.
  • Maintains cleanliness and organization of the production floor.
  • Works safely by following all safety policies and wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). Ensures employees are held to a high standard of safety.
  • Collaborate with other departments such as quality, maintenance, and logistics to ensure seamless production flow.
  • Implement and enforce best practices in production techniques, safety measures, and waste reduction initiatives.
  • Performs other related duties and assignments as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's in Manufacturing, Engineering or a related field is preferred.
  • Proven experience in a supervisory role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies,
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written

What will the work look like for me?

Daktronics Manufacturing Process Engineer Interns will be a liaison between Manufacturing and Engineering.  You will gain valuable hands-on experience as you collaborate to problem solve the day-to-day issues within manufacturing processes and products.  

  • Develop and improve manufacturing processes aligned with lean manufacturing concepts.
  • Coordinating with Engineering on major product changes.   
  • Overseeing implementation of incremental product improvements through Engineering Change (ECO) process suggestions and overall process improvement opportunities.   
  • Assisting with construction of prototype cabinet designs to gather feedback and determine effectiveness.   
  • Assist with the construction of workstations, gravity racks, carts, work aides and fixtures, gather feedback and determine effectiveness.   
  • Develop concepts and ideas for tooling designs in Creo.   
  • Fabricate prototypes using 3D printing capabilities, sheet metal forming, or other methods.   
  • Work effectively as a team member, work with little supervision, help when and where needed, make suggestions for process and product improvement, communicate effectively with team members.    
  • Be at work on time and maintain good attendance. Be willing to work additional hours as necessary.   
  • Other duties as needed to assist manufacturing departments.

What are the pay and perks?

The typical hiring range for this position is $21.00 to $23.00 per hour based on the location of the candidate. The actual offer will consider a wide range of factors, including relevant education, experience, location, and applicable local legislation.

To be considered for Manufacturing Process Engineer Co-Op Intern, we require the following:

Academic Requirements: 

  • Preferred applicants will be full-time students of at least junior status currently enrolled in an accredited Bachelor's degree program in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
  • Able to take a semester off from school to complete the internship, if applicable.
  • Must be able to commit to 40 hours per week.
  • Work through the Cooperative Education Internship Program with accredited university and Faculty Coordinator to arrange for credit while participating in this 7-month internship.
  • Only strong academic performers will be considered, with preference to 3.0 GPA or greater.
  • Unofficial transcripts or web transcripts must be submitted with application.

Other Requirements:

  • Good oral and written communication skills, good organizational skills, self-motivation.
  • Ability to effectively participate as a member of a team.
  • Work with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to learn quickly.
  • Effectively exercise discretion and independent judgment.
  • Physical Requirements include the ability to:
    • Operate automated equipment and/or hand tools.
    • Work with or around odors (solder/paint/solvent/Manufacturing odors).
    • Lift and carry up to 45 lbs. and/or awkward items.
