**What you'll do.**
In this key role, you will provide manufacturing engineering leadership throughout a new model development program - from initial concept through final assembly. This will involve the application of lean manufacturing principles to ensure the highest quality, most efficient processes and products possible. You will:
+ Provide manufacturing engineering leadership throughout a new model development program, beginning at initial concept through launch at the final assembly facility.
+ Development of tooling and facilities based on product and process.
+ Apply lean manufacturing principles.
+ Lead virtual manufacturing assembly builds.
+ Drive resolution of manufacturing issues.
+ Interface with Design and Release activities.
+ Develop formal assembly process instructions and enter the process sheets into VPS system.
+ Lead assembly tooling specification purchase, installation, start-up, and commissioning at the assembly site.
+ Track all open tooling and process issues and drive to closure including meeting all exit criteria deliverables - cycle time, throughput, workstation readiness, etc.
+ Prepare management presentations.
+ Drive quality, cost and labor improvements.
+ Support new model launches. During launches, the position will require extensive travel, standing, and walking in a plant environment.
+ Deliver dimensionally in-spec parts for their respective system. Understand component data and a system impact.
+ Deliver cycle line layouts and work with the assembly plants to have a complete operator/equipment workstation ready for launch.
+ Operate in stressful situations within timing constraints
+ Work with minimal direct supervision
**Minimum Requirements:**
+ Bachelor's degree in mechanical or an equivalent manufacturing engineering
+ Willingness to travel and support launch activities at our North American Assembly plants (USA, Canada & Mexico)
+ Travel is required including co-location at a North American Assembly plant for 9 or more months depending on scale of vehicle launch.
+ 1 or more years of Microsoft Office experience to include Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint
+ Up to 40-50% travel required
**Preferred Requirements:**
+ Solid background with virtual manufacturing tools
+ Experience with tooling, process, quality, and or facility equipment in a production environment.
+ Excellent communication and presentation skills

The Chief Manufacturing Officer is a national thought leader and visionary executive responsible for advancing SME's mission, with a particular focus on accelerating the adoption of advanced technologies through bold strategies, program development and management, external advocacy, business-orientated approaches and market-driven innovation. Manufacturing's success depends on accelerating technology awareness, adoption, and commercialization - and this role is critical to helping the industry close the gap between research innovation, real-world application, and widespread adoption.

Blending deep technical expertise with strategic business insight, the Chief Manufacturing Officer will proactively anticipate industry shifts, forge high-impact alliances, and lead the development of transformative programs and services that accelerate technology awareness, adoption, and industry impact, with a strong focus on supporting the industrial supply chain and converting insights into scalable value creation opportunities. Requirements

MINIMUM EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, manufacturing technology, or a related field required; Master's degree or MBA strongly preferred
• At least 15 years of progressive leadership experience spanning advanced manufacturing and engineering, business strategy, revenue-generating program development, and public-private partnerships.

**What you'll do.**
Benchmark future Ford vehicles to competitor vehicles by quickly measuring with data Ford vehicles manufacturing Key Performance indicators to competitors in Body and Final Assembly. #LI-Onsite
Work with Flexible Architecture team to provide and help drive product and manufacturing efficiencies including into the future Ford vehicle program between Technical Kick-off and (TKO) and Technology Management Review (TMR).
**Responsibilities:**
+ Work with multiple Benchmarking teams across the Enterprise to provide a measurable efficiency rating of our vehicles relative to our competitors.
+ Work with our team to develop a user-friendly dashboard that Engineers can easily identify efficient product and processes for future Ford vehicles.
+ Drive product development to incorporate the more efficient benchmarked product and innovation processes.
+ Focus on providing efficient product and processes identified through benchmarking and innovative projects not currently in the future model program scope.
+ Create new and innovative processes based on benchmarked vehicles and innovative manufacturing processes that improve labor efficiency, complexity reduction, and end item parts to the main line where possible for Body and Final Assembly.
+ Drive labor efficiency, complexity reduction, and end item parts to the main line where possible during new model program planning and development.
+ Coordinate efforts to review program-based manufacturing issues, align on corrective actions, and cascade to affected areas.
+ Work with counterparts in Vehicle Architecture, Body Construction, and Final Assembly Engineering to quickly align on product design and manufacturing issues.
+ Support resolution of Major Architecture and High Investment Plant High Hurts to help mitigate Launch risks in Forward Model Development.
+ Travel to our North American assembly plants for site reviews as required
**You'll have:**
+ Bachelor's degree minimum with Engineering discipline preferred
+ 3+ years' experience in Final Assembly Process & Tooling Development or equivalent manufacturing experience
