Position Overview:
We are seeking a California-licensed Medical Director to serve as a Collaborating Physician for our growing team of Nurse Practitioners (NPs) and Physician Assistants (PAs) working within our payor programs. This role is ideal for a board-certified physician passionate about clinical excellence, administrative leadership, and health equity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the designated collaborating physician for NPs and PAs in California.

Job Summary

In partnership with the Hospital Manager, the Managing Veterinarian is responsible for the financial performance and general operations of the hospital under the guidance of Divisional Leadership. Duties and Responsibilities
Advancing Medical Care
- Oversees surgical and medical cases for all doctors, ensuring positive outcomes, accurate estimates, and client communication and education
- Answers client questions and concerns regarding medical and surgical procedures
- Provides oversight and direction of medical standards, quality of care and inventory
- Establishes medical protocols
- Oversees transfer of medical cases from doctor to doctor
- Minimizes waste and controls costs relating to medical supplies, surgical instruments, and drug inventories
- Participates in the recruiting and interviewing process for doctors, and when appropriate general staff members
- Monitors doctor performance and production
- Develops and monitors hospital-specific client compliance protocols and procedures
- Participates in technician appraisal and medical counseling sessions
- Ensures all medical staff receive applicable training, including the mentoring of new graduates
- Supports the Hospital Manager with staff training programs and tracking CE and DVM/VMD licensure
- Drives revenue and hospital contribution growth, which includes managing all hospital expenses
- Assists in the preparation of an annual planning strategy, operating budget and capital budget
- Monitors key financial reports
- Drives patient visits and encourages community involvement

The Medical Director is primarily responsible for the provision of the productive and quality medical practice at Haight Ashbury Medical Clinic and the Integrated Care Center Clinic. Education and Experience Required:
- M.D. or D. O. degree from accredited United States medical school.
- Successful completion of Internship and Residency from accredited internship/residency program.
- 1-3 years experience as a primary care provider.
- Leadership Experience required
- Board Certified in family medicine or internal medicine.
- Valid and active California medical license, without any limitations on license to practice in designated specialty.
- Eligible to participate in the CMS Medicaid/Medicare reimbursement programs.
- Valid and active DEA license with X waiver to prescribe buprenorphine. If do not currently have X waiver will need to obtain within 6 months of employment.
- Experience working with patients with addiction.
- Experience working with patients that have a history with the criminal justice system.
- Experience with integrating safe management of pain syndromes within primary care.
- Experience with and knowledge of third-party payer requirements, California practice guidelines and malpractice laws, Title 22, Bureau of Primary Care, and state funding sources preferred.

Medical Director for a Quality Improvement and Care Coordination Program in the San Francisco Bay area, CA.
A collegial health system in the San Francisco Bay area is recruiting for an experienced Medical Director and is Board Certified in Palliative Care or Geriatric Medicine. The new Medical Director will help develop a Quality improvement and Care Coordination program. The Medical Director will travel to various community-based clinics and acute care facilities in the Bay area.
- Physician Medical Director is the leader providing comprehensive care coordination for the high-risk high-needs patients managed by the ACCT Program clinicians and staff
- Physician Medical Director will provide direct patient care and oversight of clinical team and resources caring for current and prospective ACCT patients
- Physician Medical Director is responsible to assist the President of the Medical Group in the administration of clinical services program, and for liaison activities with the local medical community
- Physician Medical Director will lead the development and design of the ACCT program
- Physician Medical Director will participate in the development of strategic plans, planning, and implementation of operational matters
- Physician Medical Director will serve as a clinical lead in Accountable Care to achieve improved outcomes for managed populations
- Physician Medical Director must have work experience in internal medicine, family medicine, geriatric medicine, palliative care medicine or other relevant field of medicine required. Additionally, Medical Director must have experience working in a care coordination model and administrative experience preferred
- Physician Medical Director will lead a care team that include NPs, nurses, social workers, care coordinators and other ancillary support
- Physician Medical Director will perform or arrange for care team to perform consult visits in facilities or patient homes as needed
