Ansible Government Solutions, LLC (Ansible) is currently recruiting Medical Support Assistants (MSA) to support the San Francisco VA Medical Center located at 4150 Clement St, San Francisco, CA 94121. Working hours are Mon-Fri, 7:30am/8:00am - 4pm/4:30pm. Weekend coverage may be required on a rotational basis. Competitive packages are available for qualified candidates.

Responsibilities- Schedule, cancel, and re-schedule patient appointments and/or consults; enter no-show information; prepare for clinic visits; and monitor appointments and consults.
- Provide general reception support in the Release of Information (ROI) offices at various medical centers.
- Scan insurance cards, protect secure information, and complete all insurance buffer (ICB) encounters required by ICB.
- Scanning of records and documents into an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) to support HIM functions at medical centers.
- Make outgoing and receive incoming phone calls.
- Review requests for reimbursement of travel costs and reconcile claims/vouchers for payments using electronic systems.
- Review ambulance claims for eligibility and payment.
- Assist in arranging transportation for eligible patients and work with clinical teams to request appropriate mode of transportation.
- Citizen of the United States of America.
- Ability to speak clearly, hear and write English.
- Utilize computer programs appropriately, usually involving spreadsheets, word processing, etc.; log in; type 40-50 wpm with minimum errors.
- Heavy phone and computer usage, often simultaneously.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, hospital terminology and/or clinics.
- Technically proficient in the skills necessary to fulfill the government's requirements; will be provided training by the SFVAHS on appointment management, VA policy and procedures.
- Have the following experience or education (or combination of both) to meet minimum qualifications for employment:
- Six months experience of clerical, office, customer service, or other administrative work that indicates the ability to acquire the knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position. Applicants can substitute one year of education above high school to qualify.
- One year of education above high school or one to two years of related job experience.
- Experience/Education combination: Equivalent combination of experience and education qualify for an entry level position for which both education and experience are acceptable.
- Ability to pass a required level of security clearance (NACI-level background check).

Pay Range: $18.73 - $31.32 hourly
All candidates must be able to:
- Sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders during the work shift
- Lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist

Marin Community Clinics, founded in 1972, is today a multi-clinic network with a wide array of integrated primary care, dental, behavioral, specialty and referral services. As a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), we provide vital health services to almost 40,000 individuals annually in Marin County. The Clinics regularly receive national awards from the Health Resources and Services Administrations (HRSA). Our mission is to promote health and wellness through excellent, compassionate care for all.
The Medical Assistant will perform a wide range of duties in the clinic. Tasks primarily involve assisting in the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician, physician assistant, and/or family nurse practitioner. Their duties include greeting patients, updating patient records, and performing standard care procedures. The Medical Assistant will have direct contact with patients and work closely with the care team. This position reports to the Medical Assistant Supervisor.
Work Schedule:
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 8:00am - 5:00pm with flexibility to work 10:00am - 7:00pm and occasional Saturdays as required.
Hiring Bonus:
$1,000.00
Responsibilities- Escorts patients to the exam room and interviews patients to obtain medical information and measure their vital signs including pulse rate, temperature, height, and weight.
- Consistently uses good customer service, empathy, and cultural sensitivity with patients throughout their encounters.
- Administers patient screeners and adheres to care guidelines such as ACEs, PHQ, Columbia, and others that may be sensitive in nature.
- Accurately and promptly records information in Electronic Health Record (EHR).
- Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients, keeping the rooms neat and clean.
- Uploads ultrasounds, patient photos, screen questionnaires in EHR.
- Cleans and sterilizes instruments in accordance with department's policy and OSHA guidelines.
- Works on in-box tasks sent by provider or other members of the care team for follow up.
- Arranges and coordinates video visits between providers and patients using a telehealth visit platform and troubleshoots any technical issues with patients.
- Maintains medication supplies, checking for expiration date, and keeping exam rooms stocked.
- Operates electrocardiograph (EKG) and other equipment to administer routine CLIA waived diagnostic tests and/or calls medical facility or department to schedule patients for tests.
- Gives injections or treatments, and performs routine laboratory tests.
- Follows policies and procedures including universal precautions as defined by OSHA's guidelines on Bloodborne Pathogens and Hazardous Materials standards.
- Participates in and adheres to Care Team processes and procedures.
- Works to demonstrate MCC's mission and values in all aspects of job performance.
- Maintains confidentiality in strict accordance with department policy and HIPPA guidelines.
- Attends and participates in required meetings, training, and educational programs.
- Performs administrative duties including checking eligibility, verifying demographics, assisting patients with filling out necessary paperwork, and making up follow-up appointments.
- Helps manage provider schedules, patient flow, and provide wait time updates.
- Performs other related work as assigned.
Education/Certifications and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- MA certification from an accredited Medical Assistant program is required.
- Current BLS certification from an accredited organization is required.
- Completion of an externship program prior to graduation of Medical Assistant program desired.
- A minimum of 0-6 months of Medical Assistant work experience post graduating from Medical Assistant program preferred.
- Prior experience working with under-served communities in a community health clinic environment highly desirable.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with patients and others in a courteous and friendly manner at all times.
- Strong written and verbal English skills.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) language skills preferred.
- Knowledge of patient care and examination procedures.
- Understanding of medical practices, administrative process, and organizational policies.
- Demonstrated computer skills and experience with MS Office.
- Ability to multitask in a fast pace community clinic environment.
- Strong time management skills and attention to detail.
- Prior experience using Electronic HealthCare Records (EPIC, OCHIN, NextGen) a plus.

- Flexibility / availability in schedules and shifts a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged standing, walking, and prolonged periods sitting at desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times and move medical equipment.
