**Description**
The Department of Physics at Carnegie Mellon University is seeking a Visiting Research Scientist for a full-time, fixed-term, 5-week appointment within the Condensed Matter research group under the supervision of Professor Michael Widom.
This temporary position is scheduled to begin on August 15, 2025, and conclude on September 20, 2025. The research project is to conduct research on the structure and thermodynamics of complex matter, including quasicrystals, glasses, and other materials.

The Research Scientist will be responsible for technical management of this complex and multidisciplinary effort. This role is not only technical-it is strategic, collaborative, and deeply translational. Our Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center (PSC) within MCS is seeking a **Machine Learning Research Scientist.** In this role, you will work within the PSC's Artificial Intelligence and Big Data (AI&BD) Group to engage and enable research, assist with user support, as well as develop and deliver advanced training. This is an excellent opportunity if you thrive on the opportunity for collaboration with complementary groups across PSC, particularly Computational Biology, User Support for Scientific Application, Facilities & Technology, and Public Health Applications.
**Core Responsibilities:**
+ Engage deeply as an ML expert in domain-specific projects with academic and private-sector researchers to develop and test prototype solutions applying high performance computing capabilities to data science challenges.
+ Lead the development of best practices for scalable AI, including elements of benchmarking and comparative evaluation involving various software frameworks and advanced hardware platforms.
+ Lead the development of advanced training content for briefings, seminars, workshops, and tutorials, and assist with its delivery.
+ Perform research activities at the intersection of HPC and AI including the use of AI to improve HPC and HPC capabilities for AI advancement.
+ Install, test, and deploy AI and data analytics software on PSC's production and research platforms.
+ Provide advanced user support for topics involving AI, data, and data analytics.
+ Contribute to, and possibly lead (depending on experience), grant proposals and related efforts to attract funding.
+ Publish results in peer-reviewed journals and conferences.
+ Represent PSC externally: at conferences, across CMU and Pitt, and to other stakeholders.

Our Digital team has a new opening for a **Senior Programmer** to configure technology solutions across a broad range of platforms to support clinical research trials, including patient recruitment, clinical trial management systems (CTMS), eSource, eCOA, and eConsent. As a senior-level team member, the Senior Programmer is a subject matter expert within the Digital Operations team and helps coordinate internal project operations to minimize potential risks and ensure client satisfaction.
**This is a remote position for candidates located in the Eastern Time Zone of the US.**
**Responsibilities**
+ Configure trial-specific solutions across a range of platforms, including patient recruitment, CTMS, eSource, eCOA, and eConsent, among others.
+ Coordinate work across projects to ensure consistency and timely delivery.
+ Partner with cross-functional teams to develop standards and templates for our various technology platforms to streamline and improve the build process.
+ Work with QA testing to identify and address configuration issues and ensure the quality of each project.
+ Assist with the development and maintenance of internal tools for tracking project-specific performance data as needed.
+ Conduct demonstrations for clients, as needed.
**Education and Experience:**
+ Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant formal academic / vocational qualification.
+ Previous digital programming experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 7 years' experience).
+ Experience in Clinical Research or Pharmaceutical industry preferred.
+ In some cases, an equivalency, consisting of appropriate education, training, and/or directly related experience will be considered sufficient for an individual to meet the requirements of the role.

+ Proven ability to configure recruitment questionnaires or data collection systems for clinical trials (including recruitment technology, CTMS, eSource, eCOA, or eConsent).
+ Solid understanding of the clinical research process and associated challenges.
+ Excellent knowledge of SDLC in a highly regulated industry.
+ Experience using JIRA or other project management platforms.
+ Excellent judgment and decision-making capabilities with ability to apply critical and analytical thinking skills to complex/ambiguous situations.

Salary Transparency
This is a salaried role that will also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. **Compensation and Benefits**
The salary range estimated for this position based in North Carolina is $75,800.00-$113,675.00.
