Overview Provides surgical technology to direct and indirect care and service. Assist surgeon, performs operative/invasive procedures. Serves as a resource to other technologist, trains new technologist, trains students and functions as an informal lead technologist role as needed. Mentoring and utilizing the additional education gained through certification will be used to assist peers, perform more efficiently and raise performance. Qualifications License/Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days - American Heart Association (AHA) Education: Associate's Degree: Surgical Technology; Certificate of Completion: Surgical Technology Responsibilities Preparation for surgeon specific operative/invasive procedures that’s timely, accurate effective and efficient. Instruments equipment and suture are appropriate, complete and functional. Sets up sterile field and is scrubbed prior to patient entering the room. Sets up case so that another can step into an organized back table and mayo. Have appropriate “have available” items. Uses resources wisely, avoids unnecessary opening. Motions are fluid and not redundant. Set up time for a variety of case types is within acceptable range. Aware of and is prepared for case needs, i.e. two mayo’s. Collaborates with surgeon prior to case and adjusts as necessary. Precept surgical techs and RNs to prepare for surgeon specific procedures. Scrubs on simple to complex procedures for a variety of specialties. Able to “run mayo” independently. Aware of surgeon’s techniques and preferences. Adapts style to match surgeon and procedures. Confident and competent during routine and emergency procedures. Is prepared for sequencing, i.e. clamp, cut, tie. Anticipates and provides so that attention needs not be diverted from the operative field. Attentive to case, pays attention to subtle cues and responds appropriately. Pro-active identification of needs: averts need to have someone run for things. Observe technique of self and others and intervenes appropriately. Performs in first scrub, first assist and second scrub roles. Performs case closing activities such as dressing application, transfer and turnover. Teach RNs to scrub on a variety of cases. Plans, anticipates and provides for expected and unexpected intra-op events. Anticipates and provides appropriate and timely intervention for intra-op case change. E.g. lap to open, uncontrolled bleeding, perforation. Actions and behavior are calm, confident, and steady. Is prepared for the unexpected and uses resources wisely. Anticipates problem prone and/or high risk procedures and provides for needs. Observes for induction and maintains quiet. Protects patient privacy by own actions and reminds others. Precept/Mentor staff and students in planning for surgical events. Demonstrate critical thinking skills and job knowledge that will raise performance as well as teach others observation/knowledge. Be available to be assigned on-call hours outside of schedule work-hours, which includes after-hours, weekend and holidays. And if contacted while on-call, respond in the time frame as defined by the needs of the department per policy. Able to adhere to assigned weekly, weekend, and holiday call shifts in accordance with hospital policies and protocols. Communicates and collaborates with others. Serves as a resource of knowledge and shares knowledge as appropriate. Counts are timely and actions reflect clear understanding of the dual responsibility with circulating RN. Communicates needs nonverbal and verbally in a timely and appropriate manner: urgent vs. routine. Precepts staff in appropriate manner. Mentors in positive manner. Articulates priority of needs clearly. Listens and observes for cues indicating changing needs. Conversation is appropriate for setting. Addressing issues/concerns appropriately. Reporting to the Senior Director of Finance, the Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for accounting, budgets and financial controls, payroll, purchasing, risk management, and treasury for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. This role will participate in development of financial strategy that impacts departmental functions such as clinical revenue, faculty compensation plans, grant awards, clinical research, and investments of capital. The Senior Financial Analyst will oversee the financial management of operating and capital budgets for the department and clinics associated while developing long and short-term financial goals, business strategies/plans, and financial forecasts/models for all major service programs and initiatives. Priorities of the role will include data integrity and reporting, completing financial transactions, development and monitoring of financial reports, along with participation in budgeting and forecasting. Responsibilities Participates in the annual operating and clinical revenue budget processes, working in collaboration with Department Director of Finance along with BSD Finance and Budgeting. Under direction of Department Director of Finance, provides monthly accruals and budget variance, including variance summaries and explanations. As directed, oversees the production and maintenance of the monthly financial statements, reports, and clinical revenue trends. Liaison with Research Administration and Clinical Trials teams to reconcile research accounts, including grant accounts, effort reporting, and cost transfers. Responsible for gift and endowment accounts. High proficiency in financial modeling and analysis, budgeting, Microsoft Office – especially Excel, and business systems (Oracle, SAP/BW, Workday as examples). Analyzes and prepares budgets, creates accounts, and works with the financial accounting system to allocate, authorize, monitor, and control expenses. Prepares monthly reports, conducts and correct errors in accounts using existing procedures that are in place, and provides advice on the financial impact of human resources and academic affairs decisions. May work with other administrators on the procurement process, allocates expenditures for authorization, and advises in communications regarding funding agencies, subcontractors, and others at the instruction and direction of others. Performs other related work as needed. Minimum Qualifications Education: Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field. The Opportunity
- Act as the operational administrator for the site Vituity leadership and as the interface for the practice to the hospital and community.
- Act as the front-line liaison for the provider team with hospital C-Suite, nursing leadership, nursing staff, and Vituity support team.
- Provide executive support to the site medical director and site management team to meet contract expectations.
- Provide support for all site financials to include, but not limited to, contract stipends, expense reimbursements, and site payroll timecards.
- Act as the super user for all Vituity software applications and as a point person for hospital software and hardware systems.
- As appropriate to site practice, provide support to Vituity providers acting as a percipient witness in criminal or civil disputes including, but not limited to, receiving and routing subpoenas, scheduling depositions and trial testimony as applicable, development of a provider fee schedule, and including malpractice carrier as appropriate.
- Provide office management to include, but not limited to, all aspects of meeting management, office systems, supplies, site events, and customer service.
- As applicable to the practice line, facilitate all aspects of the daily patient census and attend daily multi-disciplinary rounds.
- As applicable to the site practice, responsible for all aspects of the site clinical schedules to ensure adequate coverage with no disruption to patient care.
- Collect, track, and analyze all site financial and operational data.
- Project management as needed of the site operational programs to include, but not limited to, Operations Meetings, Patient Experience Program, Quality/Performance Improvement Program, Advanced Provider and/or Scribe Programs, and Student or Resident rotations.
- Ensure all aspects of recruiting and on-boarding are completed for new providers and employees as well as locums and reservists and/or residents and students.
- Ensure all licensed providers complete their recredentialing timely and appropriately for their licensing, certificates, and credentials required by Vituity and hospital Medical Staff Office.
- Ensure all site partners and employees remain in compliance with Vituity and hospital programs and other mandated training or requests.
- Act as the point person for all Vituity People Operations (Human Resources) relations to include, but not limited to, ensuring accurate site roster and compliance with employment law and Vituity policies.
- Develop and maintain site orientation checklists and manuals.
- Collaborate with Medical Director and Site Management Team in developing and maintaining site practice policies and procedures.
- As applicable to practice line, responsible for all medical records and data submission to Revenue Cycle Management in a timely manner and responsible for appropriate charge capture in designated system, sending notices and follow up as appropriate.
- Ensure billing and documentation compliance through completion of site WIP/TAD lists, answering provider routine questions, and schedule/hosting/participating in the monthly meeting with Revenue Cycle Management billing team.
- Ensure completion of mandated forms and requests as appropriate to include, but not limited to, death certificates, physician office requests, State specific Workers Compensation and Motor Vehicle Department reporting compliance, and pharmacy requests.
Required Experience and Competencies
- Two to three years of experience in an office or healthcare setting required.
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or related field strongly preferred.
- Experience working in the healthcare field is preferred.
