Roles and Responsibilities:
The Senior MySQL DBA will have responsibility primarily for MySQL database technologies.
Typical work-related activities include:
- Install, patch, upgrade, configure, tune, and maintain MySQL databases (current versions 8.0.x, 8.4.x being migrated to newer versions 8.0.42, 8.4.5)
- Identify, Innovate, Develop, and Deliver latest capabilities for MySQL such as Innodb clustering implementation to multi-data centers.
- Troubleshoot critical performance bottlenecks for Production MySQL databases
- Review and assess the impact of database design changes prior to their implementation
- Collaborate with other IT teams and Vendors to resolve complex and multi-disciplinary issues
- Work independently and represent database group in various projects
- Ensure that databases are monitored, maintained, backed up, and available as appropriate.
- Manage database security with an adherence to PNCs security policy
- Review stress testing results and provide recommendations to development teams
- Automate management tasks, streamline processes, and perform standard administrative functions
- Automated installation and patching experience are a big plus
- Mentor, assist, encourage, and serve as a backup to other team members
Technical Skills: (6+ years)
- Complete Understanding of MySQLs underlying storage engines
- Significant Knowledge of MySQL version 8.x and new features
- Knowledge of Automated Failover Solutions for MySQL
- Knowledge of TDE (At Rest Encryption)
- Knowledge of de-facto standards and best practices in MySQL
- Knowledge of limitations in MySQL and their workarounds in contrast to other popular relational databases
- Strong knowledge of ODBC/JDBC client/server communication
- Significant Automation experience with shell and SQL scripting

+ Under general direction, provides highly technical expertise and guidance in the architecture, design, implementation, support, operation and maintenance of database management systems (DBMS) such as lnformix, DB2, MySQL, and SQL Server.
+ Performs data movement, troubleshoots issues, and writes scripts to perform common database tasks.
