The Student Health Center at the State University of New York at Oneonta invites applications for the position of Nurse Practitioner. This is a full-time, eleven-month position with the expectation of providing primary health care to college students.

The mission of the Student Health Center is to provide quality, evidence-based medical care to our students in a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment. For more information about the university or Student Health Services, please visit or .

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Perform comprehensive health histories and physical exams.
  • Assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of acute illness and injury
  • Use evidence-based care to make clinical decisions to formulate a plan of care.
  • Promote the well-being of students to enhance retention and academic success.
  • Educate, counsel, and assist students regarding current health problems, health maintenance activities and healthy behaviors.
  • Collaborate and/or consult with other health care providers as appropriate on or off campus.
  • Timely documentation within the Electronic Medical Record system.
  • Provide high quality health care according to federal and NYS laws, American College Health Association standards and SUNY Oneonta and Student Health Center policies and procedures as related to college health.
  • Expectation to work evening hours 2 days a week.
Salary: $85,000-$87,000 commensurate with experience (11-month position, one-month non-obligation).

Required Qualifications:
  • Master's degree and NYS license for Registered Nurse with a certification as an Adult, Pediatric or Family Nurse Practitioner.
Preferred:
  • Experience in college and/or school-based health, family medicine or urgent care.
  • Experience working in women's health
  • Experience working with and serving diverse populations.

Nurse Practitioner or Physician’s Assistant, per diem

Description: Under the supervision of the Dean of Students, the per diem Nurse Practitioner or Physician’s Assistant will serve as the associate medical provider for the Perrella Wellness Center, providing acute, chronic, and preventative health care to the student body when primary provider is engaged in administrative responsibilities or requires time off.  This position is per diem (8-16 hours per week).

Responsibilities:

  • Provide, schedule, and coordinate medical services to students who are in need of medical care and who choose to utilize the student health service.

  • Oversee referrals to those in need of off-campus medical care.

  • Maintain an effective working relationship with all constituents of the Perrella Wellness Center.

  • Appropriately utilize the on-site laboratory services.

  • Appropriately utilize the on-site medication formulary.

  • Maintain the electronic medical records ensuring compliance with all HIPAA and other regulatory requirements.

  • Ability to create and maintain positive relationships with all internal and external offices the Wellness Center interacts with.

  • Participate in significant campus activities including Welcome Weekend, True Blue Weekend, and Commencement Weekend

  • Expected to comply with all applicable College, Federal, State, local and associational laws, rules and regulations

  • As a representative of the College, expected to comport oneself in a professional manner at all times, both on and off campus

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:  Minimum qualifications for this position are a Master’s degree from an accredited college or university.  Must be a Certified Nurse Practitioner or Physician’s Assistant with excellent clinical assessment skills and experience in supervision of clerical and nursing staff with at least three years of experience in the field. Must be Board Certified in an area relevant to College Health/General Practice, maintain DEA (prescribing license), and have CPR certification for the Professional Rescuer.

Wage Range: $50.00 - $60.00 per hour

About the Position:

During a visit that can last up to one hour, Matrix providers review and observe a member's current health, medical history, medication adherence, social environment and other risks. This provides unmatched insight into a member's overall health and well-being that can be difficult to capture during routine office visits. The Matrix Comprehensive Health Assessment helps to improve quality of care and allows us to potentially close multiple care gaps with a single visit.

Responsibilities:

What to Expect :

  • Conduct Adult/Geriatric assessments to include medical history, diagnosis and treatment, health education, physician referrals, case management referrals, follow-up and clear documentation according to Matrix guidelines and protocols
  • Work collaboratively with physicians, case managers, social workers, family members, key caregivers, and ancillary medical personnel as appropriate
  • Collaborate with Primary Care Physician (PCP) on patient education, provide follow-up
  • Provide services in a variety of venues to include: Home Visits, Skilled Facility Visits

Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant - PRN - Home Risk Assessments

Type: PRN - Flexible

PAY: Earn from $,300 up to 11,500 per month (Based on an average of 20-100 completed visits per month, and pay of 115.00 per completed assessment).  Compensation range is based on availability and assessment completion.

Location: Home, SNF and other community environments in New Berlin , New York

Hours: Days, Evening, Nights, weekend, Flexible Scheduling

Benefits: PRN providers are non-benefited except for 401(k) and limited Voluntary Benefits 

Mileage Reimbursement plan

Qualifications:

Must Haves:

  • Master's Degree required OR commensurate experience and satisfactory completion of NP licensure
  • Master's Degree required OR commensurate experience and satisfactory completion of PA licensure
  • Current RN and NP or PA licensure in state of practice to include prescription authority or the ability to obtain prescriptive authority
  • Board certified by the NCCPA, AANP, ANCC or the AACCN in a Matrix approved specialty
  • Have a current BLS, ACLS or CPR certification
  • 1 year experience as a Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant preferred, new grads encouraged to apply. Have the ability to travel either in state or out of state
  • Have strong computer skills and familiarity with EMR software
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills with patient, clients and colleagues
  • Have a positive and outgoing personality, and be a team player. Be comfortable and flexible with frequent change

Travel Requirements:

  • Travel required to meet patients where they live
  • Ability to travel - Valid state driver license, able to drive a car, proof of adequate automobile insurance coverage for the state of residence

This position is full-time, Monday - Friday. Employees are required to work our normal business hours of 8:00am - 4:30pm. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime.
**Primary Responsibilities:**
+ Generate an estimate of charges upon request for hospital inpatient only
+ Review all demographics, contact information and pertinent information in the chart with the patient, then review insurance information and verify that within the system to make sure it is active with the carrier
+ Collect the patient's liability of payment on the service and enter the credit card machine and the EMR
+ Answer financial assistance calls
+ Utilize work queues daily
+ Communicate effectively with the team and work directly with the supervisor daily to report collections and send that report nightly at close of shift
+ Provide financial assistance information as appropriate
+ Provide financial counseling as appropriate
+ The ideal person will look for opportunities to improve processes and report system issues and contribute to team huddles
