Responsibilities- Is aware of department compliance requirements for federally funded healthcare programs (eg. Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud, waste and abuse. Brings any questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate attention of department or administrative staff.
- Purposefully conducts all aspects of the job in an ethical manner in support of the organization’s commitment to ethical behavior in all areas of personal and professional activity.
- Assist participants with activities of daily living, personal cares and goal achievement.
- Implement and lead fun and exciting activities for participants.

Education
Must be at least 18 years old, High School/GED preferred.
Qualifications/Experience
An ideal candidate will have an interest in working with people diagnosed with intellectual disabilities, mental illness and/or dementia. Two years of experience working with the mental health and/or behavioral health population preferred. Valid Iowa Driver's License required.

Our Medical-Surgical Services Division is one of the largest in the hospital, with more than 260 of our 811 beds assigned to medical-surgical care settings.This is a 48-bed adult surgical unit focusing on the care of orthopedics, trauma, and spine patients. Our staff is full of motivated individuals that are passionate about the quality of care they provide.The Orthopedics, Trauma, Spine team believes it is our responsibility to provide patient centered care that will enable our patients and their families to cope with the physiological and psychological aspects of their illness or injury. Carries out medical asepsis when performing skills and tasks including but not limited to phlebotomy, peripheral IV removal, & Foley catheter removal and cares for patients who are medically isolated. Performs simple diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as enemas, preoperative preparation of the skin, dressing changes, collecting specimens, applying binders, braces, etc. Performs special duties as taught and directed by the nurse in charge including but not limited to phlebotomy, ECG lead/12 lead placement, and brace/pin site cares. Assists with patient admission, transfers, and discharges. Directly provides for patients' personal hygiene and comfort. Turns, positions and ambulates patients. Transports patients, equipment, specimens, and supplies. Feeds patients, serves drinking water and nourishments, and records patients' intake. Assists patients with bedpans and urinals and records output. Participates in nursing care conferences; reports pertinent patient information and incidents to nurse in charge. Provides for patient comfort measures through social interactions. Shares responsibility for preparation, proper use and care of equipment and supplies, and for neatness and cleanliness of unit. May assemble and maintain equipment and supplies in preparation for various diagnostic or treatment procedures performed by physicians or nurse. Cleans areas per designated guidelines and standards demonstrating proper use of approved disinfectants, cleaning products, and care of the housekeeping equipment Stock and supply patient rooms and nursing units.
