**Description**
The Assistant Electrical Engineer (or Energy & Utilities Analyst) will work under the supervision of a consultant or project manager to assist with developing solutions to technical and economic challenges encountered by our energy and utility clients. The Energy & Utilities Analyst will assist with power system studies that evaluate power plants (both fossil fuel and renewable) and delivery systems (transmission and distribution) and include but are not limited to, power supply planning, due diligence, performance and benchmarking evaluations, site assessments, investment planning, condition assessments, financial cost/benefit evaluations, and renewable development.
+ Analyzes, interprets, and applies engineering, financial, and economic conditions, theories, and principles to complete assigned tasks regarding technical and business implications to client projects.
+ Applies basic knowledge of commonly used engineering and financial concepts, practices, codes, and procedures within the consulting services industry.
+ Assists with analyzing life-cycle costs by developing and incorporating technical assumptions regarding capital costs, operation and maintenance costs, performance estimates, and economic assumptions and forecasts.
+ Assists project team with technical assessments that evaluate impacts associated with rules implemented by regulatory agencies.
+ Assists with designing, reviewing, and modifying drawings for project requirements that are set forth by the project managers.
+ Supports power system planning and operations analysis, including power flow, transient, stability, short circuit, electromagnetic transients, reliability, and economic dispatch.
+ Performs technical, engineering, economic, and financial studies involving planning and operations for utility projects.
+ Supports transmission/distribution study analysis utilizing power system software.
+ Supports engineering, technical, and economic assessments for both fossil and/or renewable generation.
+ Support technical and business-related risk assessments.
+ Support developing and performing detailed financial analysis using a variety of computer-based software.
+ Support developing technical reports and presentations summarizing results of analysis.
+ Support preparation of client presentations, engineering reviews, financial analysis, and contract administration for the design/planning of utility systems.
+ Support Utility Consulting business lines as required by clients.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
+ Complies with all policies and standards.
**Qualifications**
+ Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering, Finance, Accounting, or related degree from an accredited program required.
+ Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program strongly preferred.
+ Prior internship and/or related consulting experience preferred.
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
+ Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrated critical thinking skills.
+ Proficient computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite).
+ Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem solving skills.
+ Demonstrated leadership skills.
+ Minimum of a 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.
+ Involvement on campus or in the community preferred.

Engineer II: 3-5 years of engineering experience in transmission control room operations in an electric utility or in an engineering position performing planning, design, protection & controls, or project management for transmission or distribution systems.

Senior Engineer : 6-9 years engineering experience in transmission control room operations in an electric utility or in an engineering position performing planning, design, protection & controls, or project management for transmission or distribution systems. Should be knowledgeable in most of the following areas: ECS network modeling and applications, NERC standards relating to transmission planning and operation, switching practices, substation design practices, system protection and control, project management practices, SCADA systems.

Licenses, Certifications, and/or Registrations:

EIT, PE, or NCSO certification desired but not required. Must obtain and maintain Bulk Electric System Cyber Authorized Status as defined in GSOC's CIP Cyber Security Policy 301 and NERC Reliability Standard CIP 004 - Personnel Risk Assessment.

Specialized Skills:

Knowledge of Transmission Operations and Planning with specific background in four or more of the following areas: transmission switching, distribution substation switching, substation maintenance, substation protective relay operation, settings, and testing, load flow analysis, reliability reporting, system event/outage analysis.

Power Systems Study Engineers perform Arc Flash and power system studies including short circuit device evaluation, protective device coordination, load flow, grounding, harmonic and power quality studies. Computer analysis includes building of electrical one-line diagrams utilizing EasyPower, SKM and AutoCAD software, performing short circuit, load flow, arc flash, and voltage drop analysis of customer systems. You will also evaluate the analysis and prepare written reports on findings.>>THIS IS A REMOTE POSITION THAT CAN BE BASED ANYWHERE IN THE U.S.<< As a Power Systems Study Engineer, you will: Apply knowledge of low and medium voltage switchgear, motor control centers, circuit breakers, panel boards, transformers, surge protection devices, relays, power quality meters, and battery systems to serve as the subject matter expert, on behalf of Siemens, to the customer Interact with the customer and project stakeholders tactfully and professionally Lead a team to accomplish the project's scope of work on schedule Provide estimates during the project planning phase Work with the project manager to make recommendations that ensure the success of the project Work safely and promote a safe work environment for others You will make an impact with these qualifications: Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering Current Professional Engineer License in the U.S. 5+ years of experience performing Arc Flash and electrical power systems studies including short circuit device evaluation, protective device coordination, load flow, grounding, harmonic and power quality studiesBroad industry experience is desired - working with LV and MV installations at utilities, industrial plants, and commercial and residential facilities Electrical power systems applications engineering, installation, and/or field service background Experience using SKM, EasyPower or ETAP power system analysis product suites Candidate should have demonstrated aptitude for working successfully on project teams Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English Must be willing to travel 20% travel in the U.S. Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in electrical engineeringPower systems applications engineering, design, testing and installation supervision background desired.
