POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for preparing menu items for all meal programs using established recipes and cooking procedures. Employee will use large quantity food equipment. Responsible for preparing and cooking food for all meal programs as assigned, using standardized recipes and established cooking procedures. Reports recipe yields to supervisors daily.

Responsible for using small and large quantity cooking equipment to prepare foods. Employee operates convection ovens, large mixers, steam kettles, knives, whips, and other equipment as needed to complete job tasks. Responsible for reporting any equipment malfunctions to supervisor.

Incorporates safe food handling practices into all job tasks. Follows department procedures for sanitation, and temperature monitoring and documentation.

Ensures food items produced meet department standards for quality, taste and appearance.

Responsible for cleaning work areas as assigned.

Responsible for completing other departmental and agency duties as assigned. This includes participating in departmental meetings and trainings.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is performed in a large institutional kitchen. May work in refrigerated and freezer areas in the kitchen. Work scheduled hours per day between a.m. opening and p.m. closing Monday through Friday with some weekends as assigned. Days off during the week will be scheduled when weekend work is required. Must work holidays as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High school degree or equivalent.

Prefer 6 months food service experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Ensuring that Four Quadrants (4Q) program training and methods are implemented in the organization and collaborates with Operational Excellence teams to integrate lean manufacturing principles into production processes.
  • Ensures all staff (under scope) understand ABBs core values and group safety and integrity standards and act accordingly while implementing and ensuring compliance with the ABB code of conduct, global and local standards, tools, policies, and processes in their assigned area.

Qualifications for the role:

Bachelor's Degree with minimum 10 years manufacturing experience OR Associate's Degree with minimum 12 years manufacturing experience.

The Production Supervisor Will Be Responsible For

  • Providing or requesting training so their team is up to date with training requirements per the Quality Management System.
  • Review department and individual performance to identify and implement improvement opportunities to enhance our efficiency, quality, and on time delivery performance.
  • Implement or sustain organizational structure within responsible department(s) and identify succession plans or coverage for absences by utilizing a skills matrix.
  • Periodic performance reviews of team members as well as disciplinary actions for employees that are not following established processes and/or procedures.
  • Develop or modify instructions required to maintain or improve general work instructions, quality, start/end of shift, preventative maintenance programs or efficiency.
  • Analyze historical data to make informed decisions regarding expenditures or strategic decisions on production or process flow.
  • Lead or participate in Corrective Action Reports for activities associated with your department(s).
  • Responsible for keeping Operations/General Manager informed on al problems, potential and actual that could affect production goals, quality levels and meet delivery dates.
  • Organization & Leadership Skills: Plans and organizes projects in a timely manner. Establishes priorities with employees and/or appropriate parties and communicates well.
  • Communicates with direct reports, planning, quality, and customer service daily to ensure production is working on the right products to achieve quality parts are delivered on the committed date.
  • Other duties as assigned.
