Valley Milk is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Production Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our dairy manufacturing facility. This individual will be responsible for leading production teams, ensuring product quality and safety, optimizing manufacturing efficiency, and maintaining compliance with regulatory standards.
Job Responsibilities:The Production Manager is responsible for leading the production team while creating a culture of continuous improvement and efficient operations. This plant processes milk 24/7/365 to produce cream and a variety of dairy powders for customers that range from commodity cheese manufacturers to infant formula producers to specialty retail packaged powders. The production manager is responsible for achieving production results including line efficiencies and production volumes, executing safety standards consistently throughout all production areas, and ensuring that Food Quality and Food Safety Requirements are met at all times.
Job Duties:- Achieve defined production KPIs.
- Develop and execute action plans to achieve production objectives. Provides feedback to Production team regarding actual performance to target/goal. Actively engages with Production Team as well as the site Management team to understand and address areas of unsatisfactory performance.
- Lead continuous improvement culture for the production department.
- Works closely with the QA department to ensure quality production daily.
- Actively engages with all team members to understand opportunities for improvement.
- Execute Safety standards consistently throughout all Production areas. Ensure all employees, visitors, or other individuals understand and fully comply with all safety practices and procedures.
- Review production processes and standards to ensure a safe working environment.
- Responsible for ensuring Food Quality and Food Safety Standards are met.
- Responsible for ensuring all SOPs are updated and all team members have received proper training on production processes.
- Responsible for ensuring operations are in compliance with regulatory, quality, and Company policies and regulations. Fully understands and actively enforces regulatory, quality, and Company policies and regulations. Addresses areas of non-compliance with appropriate corrective action. Reports areas of non- compliance to management
- Responsible for Teamwork and Collaboration. May provide and/or receive input from across functional boundaries. Understands organizational mesh points and potential synergies. Integrates team efforts across business segments and channels.
- Effectively communicate with all levels of the organization. Demonstrate excellent presentation, oral, and
written communication skills.
- Ensure and maintain compliance to all regulatory, food safety, GMPs, EPA, OSHA, FDA, CDFA, and SQF requirements.
- Ensure that adequate cleaning of the production areas is achieved on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis to ensure professional, auditable standards are met daily.

Bachelor's degree in Food Science or related field required or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum 5 years of demonstrated management experience in food manufacturing with at least 3 years in spray-dry, dairy ingredient manufacturing.
Demonstrated technical expertise in spray-dry manufacturing of dairy food products, including competency in food safety and food quality.
Positive attitude and willingness to work with others in a team environment. Expert level of proficiency and understanding of problem solving and contingency management, including the ability to understand cause and effect and implement actions plans to drive positive results. Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to lead, delegate, and positively interact with customers, team members and peers. Sound decision making skills, including the ability to prioritize to meet company objectives.
The ability to communicate ideas and concepts clearly to others. The ability to effectively manage multiple projects/tasks.
The ability to set and understand performance goals, and to achieve those goals.
Strong knowledge of dairy processing equipment and sanitation practices.

Oversee the daily operation of the plant.
Drive Sustainable Improvement to Plant Operation
Support and enforce SQF / QA, GMP, Safety policies and procedures, and production needs. "Food Safety, and Quality" are the responsibilities of this position.
In the absence of a Production Superintendent, responsibilities will be covered by a Production Supervisor or the Assistant Plant Manager.
Essential Functions
- Review daily inventories and plan out daily evaporator, dryer, AMF and/or butter run times.
- Direct daily supervisor duties.
- Must obtain medical clearance to use respirator and maintain certification
- Attend daily staff meetings with Plant Manager to coordinate daily production activities.
- Review Milk Moovement daily and update Milk Projections, if required.
- Review daily production efficiencies and production reports.
- Monitor wastewater and ensure all effluent being discharged to the city is in compliance.
- Ensure daily inspections are completed.
- Ensure production and packaging meets specification.
- Ensure root cause analysis is completed as required and preventative action is implemented.
- Must be available to be contacted during off hours if needed.
- Enforce all safety rules and regulations to provide a safe working environment for all employees.
- Review microbiology test results daily and investigate high counts and report findings to Plant Manager.
- Review incoming ingredient load data and double check that all loads are within specifications.

By overseeing the Quality Management System (QMS), the Quality Systems Supervisor ensures compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements, ultimately enhancing product quality and organizational efficiency.

Key responsibilities for this position include:
- Creating and updating the Quality Management System in alignment with quality standards (ISO 22000 and GMP) and relevant regulations.
- Performing regular audits to ensure compliance with quality standards and identifying areas for improvement.
- Address Quality issues through root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Provide food safety and quality training through Alchemy training program and other training applications to staff on quality standards, procedures, and best practices to promote a culture of quality.
- Keeping up to date with industry trends and regulatory changes to ensure the QMS remains effective and compliant.
- Responsible for document creation, review, modification, and control.
- Leads and performs Mock recalls, reports findings, and implements corrective actions.
- Performs internal audits and leads external audits including regulatory compliance.
- Performs Management review of quality and food safety system.
- Maintains corrective action log.
- Follow up on corrective actions for internal and external audits.
- Participates as a member of the Food safety and Food quality teams.
- Maintain all HACCP (Food Safety Plan) documentation and requirements for HACCP (Food Safety Plan) procedures.
- Prepares and communicates the Food Safety Objectives and Food Safety Plan KPI.
- Trains internal auditors in quality and food safety standards.
- Assist QA Manager as directed.

* Bachelor's degree required; concentration in Dairy or Food Science preferred.
* Previous experience in the Food Industry preferred.
* 3-5 years of experience in Quality Systems Management required.
Specialized Knowledge
- Computer software experience in Microsoft Office.
- Professional Certifications Preferred: PCQI, HACCP, and Internal Auditor Certification

- Strong communication abilities both written and verbal.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.

**What you'll be doing as a Quality Control / Lab Technician:**
+ Inspect raw materials to ensure consistency and integrity
+ Maintain, test, and troubleshoot all QA/QC/Lab devices
+ Test a certain percentage of all products based on industry standards
+ Report problems or concerns to management
+ Assist with various production tasks as needed

**Job requirements:**
+ Bachelor's Degree in Food Science, Biology, Environmental Science, or a Related Major
+ Previous QA/QC/Lab Tech experience
