Position Overview
Attain Behavioral Health is seeking a dedicated Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) with experience in addiction recovery and Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) to join our outpatient team. The PMHNP will play a key role in assessing, diagnosing, and treating clients with mental health and substance use disorders. This position involves working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care and support in an environment that promotes lasting recovery.
Key Responsibilities
1. Clinical Assessment and Diagnosis
- Conduct thorough mental health and addiction assessments, including clinical interviews and diagnostic evaluations.
- Diagnose mental health and co-occurring substance use disorders in accordance with DSM-5 criteria.
- Develop individualized treatment plans tailored to each client's mental health and recovery needs.
- Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications and MAT for addiction recovery (e.g., buprenorphine, naltrexone).
- Monitor clients' medication adherence, response, and adjust as needed to support recovery goals.
- Educate clients and their families on MAT, addiction recovery, and safe medication practices.
- Provide brief supportive therapy, psychoeducation, and behavioral health interventions as part of a comprehensive treatment plan.
- Facilitate group sessions and participate in recovery-based activities focused on relapse prevention and life skills development.
- Collaborate with addiction counselors and recovery specialists to support clients' recovery journeys.
- Respond promptly to client crises, providing de-escalation and crisis management as needed.
- Work closely with the clinical team to manage emergencies and prevent relapse in clients at risk.
- Document all interventions and follow-up actions, ensuring thorough and timely reporting.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records, including assessments, treatment plans, medication logs, progress notes, and MAT documentation.
- Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations related to mental health and MAT, as well as Attain Behavioral Health policies.
- Prepare documentation required for audits, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance.
- Collaborate with addiction counselors, therapists, case managers, and medical professionals to ensure cohesive client care.
- Participate in case conferences, treatment planning meetings, and quality improvement initiatives within the organization.
- Provide guidance to team members regarding psychiatric and MAT-related care.
- Stay updated on psychiatric and addiction treatment best practices, including emerging MAT options and recovery-focused interventions.
- Maintain PMHNP certification and licensure, including current CPR and other required credentials.
- Attend Attain Behavioral Health trainings and workshops to further develop expertise in behavioral health and addiction recovery.
- Education : Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing with a focus on Psychiatry and Mental Health.
- Certification : Board-certified as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) by the ANCC.
- Licensure : Active and unrestricted PMHNP license in the state.
- Experience : Minimum of 2 years in a behavioral health or addiction treatment setting, with outpatient experience preferred.
- Skills :
- Proficiency in psychiatric and substance use disorder assessment and diagnosis.
- Experience with Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) protocols and related interventions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
