Summary
The College of Public Service ( at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) invites applications to establish and maintain an ongoing pool of lecturer applications from which future appointments to temporary, non-tenure track positions for the Department of Public Administration will be made. Appointments are part-time (less than 50% time) and will be made semester-by-semester.
The lecturer will prepare and teach courses in Public Administration (PADM 3950 & 3951 are undergraduate-level nonprofit management courses; PADM courses numbered 5000 and above are graduate-level courses counting toward the Master of Public Administration). Classes may be on-campus, online asynchronous, or hybrid.
While all qualified applicants are encouraged to apply, the department has a current need for lecturers with the following areas of expertise:

**Qualifications**
**Minimum Qualifications:**
+ A doctorate degree in a related field from an accredited institution. OR
+ A master's degree in public administration or a related field from an accredited institution AND at least 5 years of relevant work experience at a leadership or specialized expert level.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Previous teaching experience, which may include teaching at post-secondary levels and/or leading professional training.
+ Ability to teach in multiple formats (in-person, online asynchronous, hybrid).
+ At least 5 years of relevant work experience at a leadership or specialized expert level.

-The Public Administration Faculty teaches from academic, public executive practitioner, and change agent perspectives, using innovative pedagogy. Nationally, the Public Administration program is one of a select number of undergraduate degree programs with this scope.
-The successful candidate will be assigned the requisite teaching load and will serve on departmental , school, college and advisement, scholarship, research, publications, student mentorship and guidance, curriculum development, professional development, partnerships and collaborations, and a civic and community involvement.
- Performs teaching, research and guidance duties in area(s) of expertise. Shares responsibility for committee and department assignments including administrative, supervisory, and other functions.
**QUALIFICATIONS**
Ph.D. degree in area(s) of experience or equivalent. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.

-Ph.D. In Public Administration or in a related discipline such as Political Science;
-The candidate should have successful experience in culturally diverse settings;

**How you make a difference**
As a Medical Director, you will be responsible for providing medical oversight and guidance in accordance with the security regulations of the company and the regulations of the institution to which you are assigned. You will also ensure that required documentation of services is provided to the Regional or Corporate Medical Director or designee to monitor services and compliance with facility/client contract. Additionally, you will be responsible for notifying the Regional or Corporate Medical Director and Health Services Administrator or designee of changes in schedule coverage, and for assisting in arrangements for coverage of medical services if unavailable for an extended period.
**Key Responsibilities**
- The Medical Director provides clinical oversight to the facility medical program, adhering to existing policies and procedures for admission, transfer, and referrals.
- They supervise the care given by other personnel and provide consultation for all professionals in the system.
- The Medical Director partners with the Health Services Administrator to identify problems and recommend solutions to improve patient outcomes, including establishing and maintaining Chronic Care Clinics.
- They ensure proper documentation and adherence to the established formulary for therapeutic regimens, as well as providing emergency treatment on-site and responding appropriately in urgent or emergency situations.
- The Medical Director serves as a liaison with healthcare providers in the community, consults with medical specialists, and reviews and approves treatment protocols, clinical policies and procedures.
**Qualifications & Requirements**
Education
+ Medical school graduate.
Experience
+ Experience in Family Practice, Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine or Public Health preferred.
Licenses/Certifications
+ Must have and maintain current licensure within the State of employment.
+ Maintains a current DEA number.
+ Must be able to obtain and maintain CPR certification.
+ Must maintain privileges. Maintains CME requirements for continued medical practice in the State.

What You Will Need:

Bachelor's degree, preferably public administration, business administration, or a related field

10+ years of total experience, including industry, research, or consulting experience, excluding internships, part-time roles, co-ops, fellowships, and academic research

10+ years of experience supporting state health agencies

5+ years of experience leading consulting engagements

Existing strong relationships with health agency leaders

Demonstrated ability to lead new business pursuits and proposals

Excellent program/project management skills with demonstrated experience leading large multi-disciplinary teams

Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain strong business relationships with senior executive clients in the state health sector

Well-rounded leadership skills to provide strategic, analytical, and operational direction to teams
