Provides engineering support to other technical staff, engineers, and project managers for the development, design, construction, and or inspection of structures and facilities for port, marine, and intermodal rail terminal projects in the public and private sector; these facilities may include piers, wharves, port and upland marine terminals, seawalls, dry docks, marinas and other nearshore/offshore facilities. Delivers work products at a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards for design, safety, and functionality. Your Impact Provide leadership for engineering tasks including collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from the physical work site, survey data, technical reports and drawings, and or other data matrices for project development, design, and construction. Apply higher-order engineering techniques/practices to develop project design requirements, while incorporating marine-practice engineering standards and specifications. This includes identifying project site, design and construction related risks and providing mitigation solutions. Lead development of construction plans and schedules, specifications, and cost estimates for ports and marine projects. Write technical reports, generating complete and concise documentation of findings, using sketches, calculations, excel spreadsheets, technical drawings, and other engineering software (including SAP200 and similar FEM tools). Prepare and give presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to internal and external team members as well as clients. Interact with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients in a confident and professional manner. Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures. Who You Are Required Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, from ABET accredited program; 1 to 3 years of relevant post education experience in engineering discipline with demonstration of marine and coastal design experience (including rehabilitation and new design). Demonstrated ability to complete technical computations/calculations, involving the application of engineering principles to ports and marine structures. Highly proficient in technical writing, engineering software and tools, and engineering fundamentals including statics and logical problem-solving. Demonstrated ability with AutoCAD and SAP2000 and similar tools. Demonstrated ability in design/build processes. Familiarity with building and infrastructure planning, design, and construction management. Ability to plan, conduct and lead site inspections/ investigations on various aspects of the construction and design of facilities, per applicable regulations and policies. Demonstrated self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment. Works independently with minimal oversight and provides guidance and leadership to junior team or project members, with strict adherence to QA/QC procedures. Demonstrated team leadership, including coordinating/directing subconsultants, to consistently complete tasks safely while arriving at the most effective, economical, and logical solution. Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience. WSP USA is seeking a **Lead Consultant, Ports and Marine Engineering** to join our **National Maritime Practice Group** . This position can be based out of the following offices: Irvine+San Francisco-CA, Miami-FL, New York City-NY, Portland-OR, Seattle-WA, Houston-TX, Tampa-FL.
Provides engineering support and leadership to other technical staff, engineers, and project managers for the development, design, construction, and or inspection of structures and facilities for port, marine, and intermodal rail terminal projects in the public and private sector; these facilities may include piers, wharves, port and upland marine terminals, seawalls/bulkheads, dry docks, marinas and other nearshore/offshore facilities. Delivers work products at a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards for design, safety, and functionality.
Your Impact
+ Provide leadership for engineering tasks including collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from the physical work site, survey data, technical reports and drawings, and or other data matrices for project development, design, and construction.
+ Lead development of construction plans and schedules, specifications, and cost estimates for ports and marine projects. Prepare and implement site safety activity plans and coordinate field work activities.
+ Manage cross-functional teams to execute project work on a mid-level project and/or multiple concurrent smaller projects. This includes working collaboratively with other engineers and larger multi-disciplinary teams, on Federal, State, regional, and locally funded improvement and development projects. Tasks include tracking budgets, and progress of milestone activities, as well supporting completion of Plans, Specifications and Estimate (PS&E) submissions.
+ Write technical reports, generating complete and concise documentation of findings, using sketches, calculations, excel spreadsheets, technical drawings, and other engineering software (including SAP2000 and similar FEM tools).
+ Lead staff engineers in applying higher-order engineering techniques/practices to develop project design requirements, while incorporating marine-practice engineering standards and specifications. This includes identifying project site, design and construction related risks and providing mitigation solutions.
+ Provide high-level technical assistance to staff engineers on various engineering and design tasks including: advanced computer structural analytical finite element models, for design of fixed and floating marine structures; miscellaneous steel and concrete structural components (both cast-in-place and precast/prestressed concrete systems) for deep foundation systems as well as substructure and superstructure elements.
+ Prepare and monitor project task budgets, staffing and schedules.
+ Prepare and give presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to internal and external team members as well as clients.
+ Interact with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients in a confident and professional manner.
+ Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
+ Complete all assigned trainings.
+ Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Who You Are
**Required Qualifications**
+ Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, from ABET accredited program; Registered Professional Engineer licensure (multi-state preferred)
+ 7 to 10 years of relevant experience in engineering discipline with demonstration of marine project-specific design experience (including rehabilitation and new design).
+ Demonstrated ability in analysis and design of marine related projects including proficiency in: SAP2000 and/or equivalent commercially available finite element software; design and detailing of reinforced and prestressed concrete and steel components per ACI, AISC, PCI, and/or AASHTO.
+ Demonstrated experience with AutoCAD and REVIT and other related BIM tools.
+ Demonstrated construction experience in ports and marine related projects
+ Demonstrated management of multidisciplinary team coordination, compilation of design and construction documents, and domestic/international agency design standards and practices.
+ Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Proficient in technical report writing.
+ Demonstrated self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.
+ Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and the ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
+ Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
+ Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ Master's Degree in Civil Engineering from ABET accredited program with 10 plus years of post-education design experience in ports and marine structures.
+ Proficiency with domestic and international marine terminal codes (ie MOTEMS, ASCE COPRI, PIANC, etc) as well as Department of Defense (UFC, UFGC) criteria.
+ Demonstrated experience with LSDYNA and or other related engineering software.
+ A member of and/or actively participate in local and or global professional practice organizations.
+ Experience with marine, port, and coastal construction laws, codes, regulations, and compliance practices
+ Demonstrated experience with field investigation and/or construction support experience for port and marine structures.
+ Additional positions available for individuals holding a commercial dive license (ADCI or DCBC) in addition to the qualifications above.

+ Prepare project task budgets and schedules for review.
+ Prepare and give presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to internal and external team members as well as clients.
+ Interact with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients in a confident and professional manner.
+ Conduct overwater and/or over-deck inspections of port terminals and visually assess the conditions of elements.

Who You Are
