Title: Human Resources Generalist

Reports to : VP of Human Resources

Job Purpose : Responsible for assisting the VP of Human Resources in the administration of Human Resources policies, procedures, and programs. The Human Resources Generalist carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: recruitment and onboarding, employee relations, training and development, benefits, and payroll.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities :

  • Lead recruiting activities including posting and advertising for open job positions, application sorting, and scheduling interviews for operator and skilled trade level roles
  • Responsible for the employee onboarding process including requesting needed documentation and coordinating pre-employment screenings for operator and skilled trade level roles
  • Acts as benefits administrator and liaison to employees to include enrollment, life event changes, general questions, and terminations
  • Maintains physical and electronic vendor and personnel files.
  • Responsible for system updates (HRIS, ERP, Talent Management) involving Human Resources information
  • Coordinates and leads orientation programs and procedures for new employees
  • The Phoenix Stamping payroll process has centralized and shared responsibilities within the HR department. This position may support that process in updating information, preparing, processing, and/or distributing for non-exempt positions
  • Responsible for tracking attendance and coordinating with supervisors to complete disciplinary action
  • Provides advice, assistance, and follow-up on company policies, minor personnel issues, procedures, and documentation.
  • In coordination with the VP of Human Resources, provides advice, assistance, and follow-up on major personnel issues
  • Champion the companys safety program as Committee Member and coordinate with Director of Quality and Safety statutory training and compliance across all plants
  • Champions the culture of continuous improvement and participates in departmental and company-wide continuous improvement activities
  • Responsible for maintaining Standard Work Instructions for all owned processes
  • Coordinates employee training and maintains training records
  • Acts as a workers compensation claims administrator
  • Develops and maintains partnership relationships with local technical schools and non-profit organizations in the area to uphold our core value of Community
  • Acts as backup within Human Resources Department and performs other duties as assigned or directed to assist the department

The position is located in our Fort Worth, TX office with the opportunity for some work for home after onboarding is completed. Travel will be required for this role, the client group will be largely located in the West and travel to sites will be required approximately 25-30% of the time.

Responsibilities
  • Develops strategic relationships with operational leadership to serve as a valuable partner within the organization.
  • Understands business needs and evaluates ways in which they can assist leaders in achieving their KPIs.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee relations issues, providing guidance and support to managers and employees.
  • Investigate employee concerns (ie. internal complaints, hotline complaints) in a non-biased, fair manner. Must be willing to provide recommendations to leadership on how to address the concerns while maintaining a culture of respect.

  • Acts as a liaison between operations, safety, and the training team to work towards the goal of zero harm.

Qualifications

The Director of Human Resources position has high visibility within the organization and is an essential part of supporting the leadership team and all corporate staff and consultants. This position is one of an individual contributor who provides both strategic leadership and active hand-on responsibility for the operations of all HR functions including, but not limited to, recruiting corporate staff, corporate payroll, on-boarding, terminations, development and administration of HR policies and procedures, compensation, benefits, performance management, employee relations, compliance, training and development, employee engagement, and corporate culture. The Director of Human Resources reports to the CEO and works diligently to ensure the CEO’s vision of promoting and maintaining a uniquely positive corporate culture is carried forward. The DHR collaborates with the CEO and department heads in planning and implementing short and long-term goals, objectives, and policies that have a positive impact on the business. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, unquestionable ethics, have a “can-do” attitude, be genuinely interested in helping people, be proactive and be empathetic in their approach when working with all levels of the organization. RESPONSIBILITIES: Serve as a strategic partner that supports the CEO/Founder’s vision through effective decision-making, project management, and execution of strategic initiatives and goals Act as an extension of the CEO in representing to external parties and vendors Manage the hiring and on-boarding needs; including but not limited to, screening job candidates, interviewing, checking references, extending offers, and conducting new hire orientation Oversee the health, dental, vision, life, retirement plans (401-k), profit-sharing, and other benefits which may be offered in the future Establish and oversee the performance review process for corporate employees Promote team integration and cross-functional communication and collaboration Oversee relationship challenges between corporate coworkers Execute the administration of the bi-weekly payroll and data entry for corporate employees Review and process all corporate employee PTO requests Establish benchmarks for measuring the talent within the organization Maintain all employment records and employee data Manage state unemployment and worker’s compensation claims Establish and maintain all Company policies and procedures related to employment matters Coach managers and lead recognition of employee efforts Design and lead soft-skills training programs for managers and employees Identify and act on core problems or opportunities to improve people-related business processes Manage company communication to employees Manage, update and maintain the Employee Handbook Direct and respond to any employee or task force related legal actions brought against the Company (Unemployment Claims, Workers Comp Claims, EEOC, DOL, etc.) QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS: Ability to operate at a tactical, strategic, and operational level in a growing environment Strong leadership and problem-solving skills to assist with the daily operation of the organization and give positive guidance to staff Extensive knowledge of talent development, employee engagement, and change management practices Broad knowledge of labor laws and legal practices related to employment matters Excellent written and verbal communication skills; good listener Able to empathize and sympathize with others Ability to effectively plan, organize, and prioritize tasks Highly ethical and conscientious Willing and able to champion the brand and reputation Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Prior experience supporting the C – Suite Prior experience in a startup, or early-stage organization EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field Minimum 10-years prior experience in business including managing a significant human resources function or department within the business Seniority level Seniority level Director Employment type Employment type Full-time Job function Job function Human Resources Industries Hospitality Referrals increase your chances of interviewing at Freeman+Leonard by 2x Get notified about new Human Resources Director jobs in Roanoke, TX .
