**Energy Engineer**

As an Energy Engineer placed with KellyOCG you will be responsible for the following:

+ Recommend Enhancements that effect the bottom line by effectively managing energy, water and waste through design and operation of its facilities.
+ Develop facility plans and work with external vendors to develop and implement energy and utility efficiency projects.
+ Work with team to develop project feasibility based on economic, environmental and social aspects.
+ Analysis to include parameters such as total project cost, return on investment, payback period, total cost of ownership, life cycle cost, energy conserved, water conserved, waste reduced, etc.
+ Conduct energy use assessments for facility with multiple uses.
+ Analyze site metrics and draw conclusions as to efficient utility management.

About the role

• Prepare Scope of Work and Requests for proposal for engineering services; site due diligence and assist with grid interconnection and/or integration

• Assist with external negotiations to deliver best-in-class renewable energy outcomes across our assets (EPC, OEM, and suppliers, Grid operators, developers)
• Design and implementation of weather monitoring and measurement campaigns
• Field quality control, field punch list development and development of commissioning and performance testing plans
• Work with grid and utility services teams to ensure seamless project integration in micro-grids

About you

• Excellent communication and relationship building skills with the ability to engage and negotiate with a variety of cross-disciplinary stakeholders

Organization and Position Overview

Lilly recently announced a $4.5 billion investment to create the Lilly Medicine Foundry, a new center for advanced manufacturing and drug development. The first-ever facility of its kind, combining research and manufacturing in a single location, the Medicine Foundry will allow Lilly to further develop innovative solutions to optimize manufacturing processes and increase capacity for clinical trial medicines, while also reducing costs and environmental impact.

The HVAC Engineer is the site Subject Matter Expert (SME) for site HVAC (GMP and non GMP) and the ancillary systems associated within the facilities.  

During the project phase, the HVAC Engineer will be a key player in the cross functional project team in charge of the construction, commissioning, qualification, start-up and operational readiness of all HVAC systems.  During the day-to-day operation, the HVAC Engineer will be responsible for effectively, reliably, and cost effectively operating the site’s HVAC (GMP and non-GMP) and ancillary systems associated within the facilities, maintaining all these systems in a state of compliance, in-control, and fit for use, capable of meeting all site needs. The HVAC Engineer will also be responsible for driving continuous improvement initiatives and local capital investment.

• Be the SME with a deep technical expertise in all systems (GMP and non-GMP HVAC and ancillary systems associated within their facilities), understanding their applications in pharmaceutical manufacturing, understanding flow charts and process parameters, and awareness of industry trends.
• Ensure the assigned processes are aligned with Industry and Lilly Standards
• Support risk assessment exercises using the different tools available (e.g. FMEA)

Initial project asset delivery phase and future local capital investment:

• Provide written instructions for the proper way to operate and maintain the equipment and process to assure that the system operates within the controlled parameters
• Implement efficient and effective maintenance and reliability techniques,
• Apply problem solving skills by leading equipment failures troubleshooting, demonstrating RCA lead investigator proficiency and guide operations personnel in the resolution of process issues.
• Provide customer consultation and notifications on issues that involve utilities areas assigned
• Assure that all necessary items are identified on the proper tracking systems, and make sure that items are completed by the required date
• Provide technical assistance as necessary to maintenance, and operations personnel
• Support internal and external inspections and investigations (including Quality and HSE)
• Maintain efficient communications with appropriate site customer groups
• Proficiency with the Trackwise and CAPA systems

Basic Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (prefer ME, MET, EE, Chem E)
• 5+ years of experience in HVAC/Utilities and their use in a manufacturing setting, pharma preferred.

The Mechanical - Energy Engineer conducts the design development, implementation, and technical analysis of technical various systems to implement new products, or changes to an existing scheme, to suit individual client needs. The professional in this role works on multiple projects in a timely and cost-effective manner to meet client, contractual and company requirements.

The Mechanical - Energy Engineer monitors progress and performance against the project plan and acts immediately to resolve operational problems and minimize delays, as well as recognizes technical discrepancies in analytical results, and makes appropriate corrections. REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related required
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
• Minimum 3 years' related engineering experience required
• Demonstrates a strong working knowledge of the respective engineering field as well as proven ability to practically apply it in a professional environment
• Proficient in engineering, computational, and modeling software (Revit, AutoCAD, MicroStation, etc.)
• Understands QA/QC procedures
• Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adapt communication style to suit various audiences
• Desire to work in a collaborative team environment with the willingness to assist more senior staff
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office software required

The desirable candidate has a strong grasp of Engineering fundamentals in mechanical and electrical equipment, along with excellent communication skills. They should possess a passion, curiosity, and drive to learn and provide technical assistance to optimize energy consumption for commercial customers. The desirable candidate is also passionate about achieving carbon neutrality and is committed to empowering customers to reach Hawai'i's 100% clean energy goal by 2045.
Under the guidance of the Technical Services & Engineering Manager and/or other staff, the Energy Engineer will:
+ Review energy efficiency calculations and energy models for commercial projects
+ Perform data acquisition and analysis for internal and external stakeholders.
+ Analyze billing and utility data using linear and multivariable regression models (post project reviews, rates, weatherization, and anomalies)
+ Provide energy advising customized for commercial customers.
+ Perform site visits to conduct building energy audits to identify major energy consumption areas and optimize building operation, lighting, controls, and HVAC equipment operation.
+ Write technical summaries and briefs for both technical and non-technical audiences.
+ Develop educational material for to building owners and the design and construction communities.
+ Develop and review measurement and verification (M&V) plans, perform M&V activities and analyze data to determine savings and costs of energy projects.
+ Research and develop prescriptive savings measures for emerging energy efficiency technologies.
+ Develop and deliver presentations for events and meetings and participate in stakeholder community events.
+ Develop interactive visualizations using R, Python, JavaScript, or other languages for internal and external stakeholders.
What Sets You Apart:
+ Bachelor's degree in engineering with two years or less (2-) of professional experience in engineering, technical project management or related areas. May consider more years of relevant experience in lieu of degree
+ Proficiency in analytical programming language (R, Python) as well as SQL.
+ Strong technical, quantitative, and analytic capabilities including technical report writing and advanced spreadsheet development/analysis.
+ Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
+ Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as within cross functional teams.

**Responsibilities:**
Maintains responsibility for energy savings projects throughout the University, including Central Utilities, River Campus, Medical Center, and all other University properties.
**SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:**
+ Manages and coordinates energy conservation projects up to 500,000 for any University facility from design through construction and commissioning. Includes project basis of design and payback analysis. Manages purchase orders and approves invoices for consultants and contractors.
+ Is responsible for tracking energy use on buildings and energy savings following project completion. University expert on university metering and leads installation of new meters.
+ Maintains relationships and collaborates with University stakeholders on programs and potential projects on River Campus, Medical Center, off sites and Central Utilities.
+ Works with Central Utilities Director to implement an energy dashboard system for campus buildings. Works with stakeholders on use of dashboard data.
+ Coordinates sources of outside funding and rebates for energy conservation projects. Initiates and submits requests as required. University expert on energy savings projects criteria and rebate programs.
+ Prepares quarterly reports of project costs and savings for senior management review. Provides technical advice and sets priorities on campus energy projects, working closely with other facilities managers.
**REQUIREMENTS:**
+ Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering and at least 5-10 years of experience in design and/or commissioning of building HVAC and/or electrical systems, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
+ Knowledge of Building Control Systems and energy metering or mechanical/HVAC construction and commissioning equivalent preferred.
