McCarthy's Renewable Energy Business Unit is looking for Preconstruction Managers to manage the preconstruction process for large utility-scale renewable energy projects throughout continental United States. Position Summary Lead and provide support and oversight as appropriate with conceptual and detailed design process of renewable energy projects Lead and provide support and oversight of procurement efforts for key equipment of solar plants with support of Preconstruction Director, i.e. Modules, Inverters, Transformers, Racking System including Piles and SCADA system Lead a pursuit team to develop strategy and respond to RFPs from clients Participate and contribute to renewable energy design reviews Review of commercial and technical contract documents (i.e. Scope of Work, Testing, etc) to develop proposed edits, leads negotiation with client Assist with negotiations of Performance Guarantees Provide support to Business Development team as necessary to maintain relationships with existing client base. Conduct site visits and inspection as necessary Lead a pursuit team in the estimating of turnkey renewable energy projects, provide oversight to ensure timely completion and accuracy of estimates Lead a pursuit team to ensure alignment internally and with 3rd parties (i.e. subcontractors, vendors, etc.) on scope of work, materials, and schedule requirements; document any clarifications. Conduct reviews of milestone design documents for the development and pricing of value alternative opportunities Lead the final assembly of cost estimates for presentation to clients. Qualifications
Required:
+ Ability to perform job responsibilities within a hybrid work model that requires US Tax professionals to co-locate in person 2 - 3 days per week
+ Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, law, business administration, economics, or related field
+ 5+ years of experience in related field (exception applies for master's degree with 2+ years of experience)
+ Demonstrated analytical and research skills, as well as effective verbal and written communication skills
+ Proven leadership skills demonstrating strong judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $66,570 to $151,580.

This Opportunity
Provides high level technical assistance and guidance for multi-site/phase due diligence, investigation, remediation, impact assessment, permitting, design, development, and construction of commercial and industrial scale projects in the public and private sector. Tasks include the research, design, concept development, planning, and detailed design for construction of renewable energy generating facilities (solar photovoltaics, BESS, microgrids), power distribution, power regulation, as well as protection and control systems in a wide variety of contexts (utilities, transportation, building, and Federal, State, and local government projects). Develops electrical models and reports for detailed electrical design of a wide range of project sizes for the commercial industry (multifamily, mixed use, education). Substantiates reports and documentation to advise on material, installations, design, component, and construction specifications. Ensures that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards for design, safety, and functionality.

Provide guidance with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data relating to renewable energy balance of plant components, equipment specifications for procurement package development and pricing, IFR/IRC detailed design and review processes, and IEEE/NESC Standards/NERC regulations for design work.

Coordinate, review and approve electrical infrastructure design plans for smaller and less-complex projects, ensuring data integrity and work is compliant with all applicable codes, ordinances, and regulations.

Apply high-level electrical engineering techniques and processes to identify improvements for various infrastructure project phases including concept development, preliminary design, final design, procurement, construction, and operation.

Perform professional and more complex electrical engineering work relating to the design of single line, three line, wiring diagrams, general arrangement, schematics, cable schedules, and grounding schematics in conformance with applicable rules, standards, and construction or operating permits.

Plan and incorporate future-ready techniques, concept development, operating strategies, and various design requirements with equipment sizing and cabling, AC/DC panel design, and conduit and trenching design strategies that account for the safety and functionality of end-users, systems, and infrastructure.

Review electrical calculations for loads, equipment sizing, grounding touch and step potentials, short circuit study, protective device coordination, one-line diagram development, and protection elements.

Develop and review plans, specifications, and cost estimates, construction safety and phasing plans, and updating electrical infrastructure layout plans that require coordination with owners, other disciplines, sub-consultants, and clients.

Involved from project inception to completion in the management of design and construction of electrical infrastructure projects, including new construction, renovations and reconstruction, site development, equipment layout, elevations, specifications, building materials, phasing, and construction safety plans.

Oversee and monitor cross-functional teams of engineers, planners, scientific, and construction professionals to execute project work on mid-level and/or multiple concurrent projects, including budgets, tracking hours and expenses, task completion, cost and quantities of materials/equipment/labor, technical calculations, permit applications, construction, compliance documentation, and regulatory and technical analysis memos.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.

10+ years of relevant post education experience as an electrical engineer providing design deliverables for capital projects in power generation and distribution at a utility, industrial, or commercial scale.

Engineer license preferred.

Proficient with electrical engineering principles, practices, process, design/build, and the application to permitting and project work-related issues.

Extensive knowledge of infrastructure design.

Exposure and familiarity with principles of renewable energy system design

Demonstrates competence and comprehensive knowledge concerning adjacent disciplines such as electrical engineering, structural engineering (roof loading and mechanical attachment), mechanical engineering (energy demands, available roof area) and energy modeling (Title 24).
