Full-Time Food Rescue Driver

Location: New York, NY

New York Common Pantry is one of the city’s largest food pantries, providing food assistance, case management services, senior food provision, nutrition education, and hygiene services. We are a dynamic, mission-driven organization, experiencing rapid growth and expansion at this time.

NYCP is a poverty-fighting organization that reduces hunger and promotes dignity, health, and self-sufficiency by using a holistic approach to reach over 122,000 distinct people -- over 729,000 visitors each year. Last year, we served over 11 million meals. Through an array of programs that we offer, we look to establish long-term stability for those we serve.

The Full-Time Food Rescue Driver coordinates and conducts pick-ups of donated food and other items for NYCP's food pantry and hot meal programs. The Full-Time Food Rescue Driver also provides transportation for special events, participates in food drives, and provides program support for the pantry and meal programs to distribute food to individuals and families in need.

The Full-Time Food Rescue Driver will report to the Food Sourcing Manager at the 1285 Oak Point Ave, Bronx, NY 10474 location. The schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 8 am - 4 pm, 1 hour lunch break. This is a Full-Time position, 35 hours a week, non-exempt.

Responsibilities:

  • Pick up prepared food, fresh produce, and other grocery items from corporate partners, schools, and religious organizations, including cafeterias, restaurants, grocery retailers, and wholesale distributors.

  • Receive and carry out daily and ongoing pick-up and drop-off driving assignments through email or through an electronic donation system, using agency smartphones or tablets.

  • Conduct weekly pick-up of donations from partners using a box truck or similar vehicle.

  • Use hand trucks, pallet jacks, and other light machinery to carry out loading and unloading.

  • Provide proactive communication through calls, texts, and emails and give updates about pick-up dates and times to donors to ensure pick-ups/drop-offs go smoothly.

  • Provide excellent customer service and donor management and engagement to ensure repeated donations for the pantry and hot meals program.

  • Properly weigh, date, and transport all food donations according to NYC food handling standards.

  • Unload and appropriately store all food donation items within NY Common Pantry food storage areas.

  • Maintain a temperature log for ready-to-eat food to ensure safe temperatures are maintained during transport.

  • Complete donation tracking forms with accurate weight, date, item description, and donor information.

  • Regularly log and submit donation tracking information to the Food Procurement Coordinator and enter it into electronic third-party donor systems.

  • Ensure that donated food is in acceptable condition for re-use.

  • Maintain relationships with front-line employees of companies donating food and promote NY Common Pantry to food donors.

  • Guide volunteers assisting with deliveries and storage.

  • Other Responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A High School Diploma or the equivalent is required.

  • A valid license in the province or territory of intended employment and a clean driving record are required.

  • Commitment to helping the communities in need and NYCP’s work and mission.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds is required.

  • Experience driving a box truck, Sprinter 3500, or similarly extended cargo van is required.

  • Experience using hand trucks and pallet jacks is required.

  • Experience using a forklift is preferred.

  • Availability to work evenings and weekends is essential.

  • Meet Deadlines in a timely manner despite traffic or route changes.

  • Solve Problems that may arise on the job such as traffic or route changes.

  • Certification in Food Safety by the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene is preferred.

  • Comfortable working with diverse populations.

  • Multi-task and work in a highly trafficked area.

  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.

  • Travel between multiple job locations.

**Description:** **WHAT WE'RE DOING**
The Combat Rescue Helicopter Program (CRH) Senior Manager is responsible for cost, schedule and technical execution of all aspects of the CRH program and reports directly to the Program Director, Combat Rescue Helicopter Program. The CRH aircraft PMs (APMs) will directly report to this role. Responsibilities span both the development and production of the CRH aircraft. This position is also accountable for risk and change management, team leadership and communications, and interface with internal and external stakeholders. Additionally, this role will also work collaboratively with the CRH cross-functional team to drive performance and adherence to customer milestones and expectations. This position is also responsible for meeting our short term and in support of long-term financial objectives.
**THE WORK**
The CRH Senior Manager is responsible for providing Program Management planning and execution for the CRH program which includes:
- Report to the CRH Program Director and have complete P&L responsibility for the overall program.
- Serve as key program lead, establishing the overall program, contract, and organizational structure, ensuring the program is executable and we can deliver what we propose.
- Lead the aircraft Integrated Product Teams (IPT) to support the CRH program and work with other CRH PMs to develop a solution that balances cost, schedule, and technical risk across all IPTs.
- Communicate program status, challenges, successes, and help needed across the enterprise and up through executive leadership, both internal and external.
- Participate in appropriate capture activities including the Win Strategy and color team reviews. Lead the program team that will perform the program management capture-phase responsibilities, including development of IMS, identification and mitigation of risk, oversight of cost baseline, etc.
- Collaborate with other functions within the AAFS business, Business Development, Engineering & Technology, Finance, Contracts, Legal, Sourcing to ensure the accomplishment of capture/proposal-related milestones.
- Build effective customer relationships and communication. Act as primary customer contact for program-related matters, leading program review sessions with customer to discuss cost, schedule, and technical parameters.
- Work with customer to resolve high-level, technical, programmatic, business, issues. Establish or alter a fundamental ground rule for planned contracts.
- Ensure the program plan baseline is consistent with the requirements baseline and the proposed solution baseline.
- Develop, review and approve project metrics, primarily EVM, to track project health and provide visibility to the Program and Executive management. Ensure development and statusing of an Integrated Master Plan/Integrated Master Schedule (IMP/IMS) and WBS dictionary.
- Oversee efforts to drive to an affordable aircraft. Manage efforts to identify and implement opportunities to meet cost targets.
- Conduct Make/Buy decision meetings. Ensure adequate technical and contractual requirements are established and that documented selection criteria consistent with program requirements and priorities exist to successfully direct source selection decisions.
- Develop and execute 1LMX transformation capability adoption plans for the program
- Develop and execute program plans, meeting contractual commitments, managing program performance, and achieving portfolio orders, sales, EBIT and cash commitments

+ Provide assistance to patients, visitors, and colleagues with vehicle problems
+ Monitors and witnesses the removal of patient valuables from the admitting safe when requested with documentation on Daily Reports as well as in the valuables log.
+ Performs all security-related duties associated with the Hospital Internal Emergency Management Manual at all times.
+ Ensures that pertinent information is passed to the relief Officer at change of shift.
+ Maintains a smoke-free zone at areas designated no smoking by the facility, and gives direction to an acceptable area for smoking.
+ Maintains post one (security office) when assigned, views CCTV observation equipment, assumes all switchboard duties.
+ Participates in educational activities that meet one's educational needs as approved by the Security Manager.
+ Demonstrates knowledge of the Hospital's Fire Regulations and Disaster Procedures.
**Minimum Qualifications:**
**Education:** High School Graduate or equivalent. Graduate or enrollee in a Criminal Justice program preferred. Bachelors preferred.
**Licensure, Certification, Registration:** Licensure, Certification, Registration: Current driver's license. CPI NCI Certification. AVADE Workplace Violence Prevention Levels I, II, III Certification, BLS Provider Certification (CPR & AED), AHA Heart-Saver First Aid Certification, Stop the Bleed and Nasal Naloxone Certification, and successful completion of Safe Environment for Suicidal/Homicidal Patients and Restraints/Seclusion Safety training.
**Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:** Observant, paying close attention to detail; Ability to remain calm in difficult situations; Adaptable to sometimes rapidly changing situations; Strong interpersonal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively across diverse cultures and at various social and educational levels. Basic computer data entry skills. In the absence of a particular skill, colleague must have the ability to be trained to a level of proficiency. Knowledge of State and Federal laws, ability to communicate both oral and written
**Experience:** A minimum of four years in law enforcement, security, and/or customer service. A minimum of two years in a supervisory position preferred.

Job Summary: The Security Officer works under the direct supervision of the Public Safety Work Shift Supervisor (Police Sergeant). Their performance is focused on the protection, safeguarding, security and customer service needs of patients, visitors, employees, their possessions and Medical Center property, in a manner that maintains the highest quality of safety and service to the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center community.
**Job Description:**
**Essential Responsibilities:**
1. Patrol facility and grounds or maintain fixed post coverage, inspecting for security, health and safety hazards, unauthorized persons and unsecured doors and windows, making notifications or taking corrective action as necessary.
2. Respond to calls for service, alarm and emergency code activation, rendering first aid, traffic / pedestrian control, and assistance to clinicians such as deescalating emotionally distressed persons who may pose a safety risk to themselves or others.
3. Provide escort for patients, visitors and employees to parking areas and other campus facilities.
4. Direct traffic, monitor parking compliance and provide direction to destinations, to facilitate patients, visitors and employees who are navigating their way through the Medical Center.
5. Utilize computer systems to document work activity and to assist visitors in determining where patients are located.
**Required Qualifications:**
1. High School diploma or GED required. Associate's degree preferred.
2. 1-3 years related work experience required.
3. Basic familiarity with computers. Ability to navigate at a basic level within web-based applications.
**Competencies:**
1. **Decision Making:** Ability to make decisions that are guided by general instructions and practices requiring some interpretation. May make recommendations for solving problems of moderate complexity and importance.
