The Leir Institute for Migration and Human Security at the Fletcher School, Tufts University seeks a Postdoctoral Fellow to serve as the Americas Research Director of a two-year project entitled "Securization without Security: How Migration is Shaping the Global Order." Funded by the Carnegie Corporation of New York, the project examines whether and how the securitization of migration by the United States and Europe is making the world less safe by: (1) fueling a loss of state authority to non-state actors embedded in illicit political economies along migratory routes; and (2) enabling transit states to extract concessions by weaponizing migrants and refugees. Competitive candidates will have a proven track record in independent research, strong written and oral communication skills in both English and Spanish, and fieldwork experience, ideally in Latin America. They will also have good organizational skills, the ability to manage a team, and comfort interacting with high-level policymakers and practitioners. Their areas of expertise should include some combination of the following with a focus on the Americas:
* Irregular migration and displacement
* Immigration and asylum policy
* Borders and border policy
* Migration governance and diplomacy
* Illicit political economy
We also encourage candidates with the following skills or experience:
* Other languages, especially Haitian Creole
* GIS and/or other mapping or visualization tools
* Institutional Review Board (IRB) applications
* Website development
The Leir Postdoctoral Fellow will be under the direct supervision of Professor Katrina Burgess, Leir Director and Project Investigator. The postdoc will collaborate regularly with other members of the Leir team, including faculty, staff, and student research assistants, as well as the Glasgow-based Project Investigator, Professor Gerasimos Tsourapas, and his team. Their specific responsibilities will include the following:
*Supervising and contributing to desk research
*Assisting with the design, supervision, and implementation of summer field work, including the IRB application
*Conducting data analysis (mostly qualitative but ideally also GIS mapping)
*Preparing policy briefs, blog posts, and academic papers
*Planning and participating in workshops in Mexico City and Medford (Tufts)
*Interacting with high-level policymakers, practitioners, journalists, and academics
*Arranging and participating in briefings with policymakers in the United States, Latin America, and/or Europe
*Assisting with the project's website and social media outreach

Salary is $62,000. Postdocs are also eligible for paid time off, health and dental insurance, and other benefits. The fellowship is for two years with a starting date of January/ February 2025 with the option to work remotely while relocating to the Boston area.

As a Research Scientist/Entomologist - Research Triangle Park, NC, you create chemistry by.
It will be your task to carry out trial work programs independently, from planning of the trial set-up, through execution of the trial work, to a thorough evaluation and reporting of the results. The execution of the trials involves the use of plants and living insects as well as the proper handling of chemicals, including research compounds of unknown toxicity. You will contribute to the team’s success by developing new methodologies and incorporating new technologies into the team’s repertoire.
More specifically, you will be the team’s key resource in the area of field trial execution. You will contribute to the team by supporting/conducting research studies assigned to the team, which comprises application of research compounds with the appropriate PPE, infestation, and assessment of trials conducted under laboratory, greenhouse, and field conditions. You will be expected to allot more than 50% of your work hours under the outdoor field conditions during the field trial season.
As Research Scientist/Entomologist, you will communicate efficiently within the team and potentially with colleagues in other functions of our organization. You will analyze the results of your work and provide meaningful recommendations for future activities in the specific projects.

- BS or higher-level degree in Biology or Agricultural Sciences or related. MS degree is a plus.
- A minimum of 4 years of experience in insecticide research and entomology.
- Proficiency in data analysis and report writing is essential.
- Flexible scheduling, with occasional weekend or holiday work.
- You will need to be willing to work with compounds of unknown toxicity in a lab, greenhouse and field environment.

Summary:
This position seeks a candidate with a willingness to take on new challenges, and possessing excellent organizational and critical thinking skills. Reporting to the Research Project Manager for Dr. Kimberley Geissler, the Senior Research Coordinator (SRC) will assist with conducting health services research in a large academic medical center related primarily to pediatric and mental health care. The SRC will assist Dr. Geissler's team as they conduct research, publish results, and apply for grant funding. Duties may include: chart/graph creation; data entry; basic data analysis; literature reviews; compiling and submitting Institutional Review Board (IRB) applications including Single IRB application; helping to draft and submit manuscripts and conference submissions; assisting in different facets of the grant application process including formatting and editing of grant, assisting with creation of budgets, and compiling of applications/paperwork in preparation for submission. This position also carries some administrative duties including: meeting coordination and other administrative tasks as needed throughout the course of employment.
Of note, this position does not involve significant patient contact; rather, it focuses primarily on quantitative health services research.
Job Responsibilities:
1) Assist with coordination of all phases and operational tasks of assigned research projects, e.g. recruitment/screening/follow-up activities; intervention design and implementation activities; and data collection and management activities.
2) Assist with monitoring grant expenditures, including subcontractors, work, collaborate and negotiate with subcontractors in the coordination of off-site operations, create budget projections.
3) Assist in the development of annual budgets and technical reports in collaboration with the Grants Administrator.
4) Write the quarterly progress reports and annual progress reports for submission to the external funding agency.
5) Responsible for the management of difficult participant cases and adherence to protocol issues.
6) Develop and supervise collaboration with participating research sites.
7) Plan, conduct, and record meetings of steering committees, data analysis, and other appropriate working groups.
8) Assist with training and ongoing support of other research team members, including staff and co-investigators, in data analysis techniques as needed.
9) Participate in qualitative and/or quantitative data analysis, in collaboration with the PI.
10) Coordinate schedules of subcontractors and professional consultants to meet project plans.
11) Assist with orientation and supervision of graduate interns (e.g. public health or medical students).
12) Participate in the writing and production of manuscripts.
13) Provide direct backup for the PI/project Manager and serve as the P.I.'s designate as appropriate.
14) Participate in new funding proposal development.
15) Participate in the conceptual design of new studies.
16) Perform other job duties as assigned.

- Project management experience with proven ability to organize and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously and meet competing deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Accustomed to and comfortable working with and presenting to senior executives.
- Superb business judgment, problem solving and organizational skills. Hands-on,highly motivated self-starter.
- Willingness to travel to attend applicable project, industry, conferences, and other sales meetings.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to pay particular attention to all project details are critical.

Reporting to the Director of Research, this position will play a key role in supporting the Division of Research by managing communications, coordinating meetings and events, handling visiting researcher registrations, and ensuring efficient administrative operations. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administrative Support: Manage research communications, assist with scheduling, maintain records, and support visiting researchers.
- Com mmittee & Workshop Coordination: Organize logistics for committee meetings, workshops, and related reimbursements.
- Visiting Researcher Administration: Process registrations, coordinate housing and lab access, and oversee compliance with institutional policies.
- Event Planning: Support and execute research-related events, including seminars, meetings, and fellowship programs.
- Financial & Account Management: Assist with expense tracking, reimbursements, and financial documentation.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
