This work is to be conducted on weekends from 4:00 AM to 11:00 AM.

As the Food Service Worker you will be responsible for assisting catering services personnel in the preparing, serving, and distributing of food to customers or clients in a clean, safe, and sanitary environment.

A typical day for the Food Service Worker will include:

• Assisting in transporting prepared food into dining facilities from delivery vehicles.
• Conducting light food preparation (slicing of fresh fruits and vegetables, etc.).
• Serving food to customers in a cafeteria-type setting.
• Assisting in the transportation of trays and service equipment from dining facilities to delivery vehicles.
• Conducting general clean-up and sanitation of food service areas.
• Assisting in the removal of refuse from dining facilities and transportation to approved receptacles.

What qualifications do you look for?

• Current ServSafe certification or the ability to obtain before work commences.
• Previous experience in food service, hospitality, or kitchen work.

Position Summary:

Performs a wide range of duties involved with preparing and/or serving foods and beverages in a kitchen operation for residential facility for children and adolescents.

Essential Duties :

• Perform general cleaning as scheduled.
• Receive delivery of and put food and supplies away after receipt.
• Ensure safe handling and correct rotation of food items (first in, first out).
• Time is to be used effectively to ensure that duties are completed according to the schedule.
• Department and facility procedures are correctly followed for safety, sanitation, and cleaning schedules.
• Properly wash and store dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment.
• Assist in food preparation and delivery.
• Assemble and deliver cottage supplies according to the posted standards.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

If less than high school degree or equivalent, at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience. Prior work in food service environment and prior work with youth, preferred.

Additional Requirements :

• Must possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted California driver's license.
• Must be able to successfully complete and maintain required certifications and training.

Salary Range: $16.90 - $20.50 per hour

• Perform variety of tasks in the dish-room, such as, scraping trays, sorting, stacking, racking tray ware for loading into the dish-machine, and pulling clean tray ware from the dish-machine.
• Empty trash from kitchen areas to the waste receptacle located outside near receiving dock.
• Assist Wage Grade-4 (WG-4) food service worker assigned to the ingredient control room, store food deliveries and supplies in walk-in refrigerators/freezers, and dry storage areas.
• Practice good customer service skills when interacting with patients, especially when delivering and retrieving meal trays from patient areas.
• Be professional and kind to all staffing and patients.
