As a Sr Risk Associate in the Financial Services Business Risk Office, you will provide professional risk judgment that enables business partners to tackle major company challenges. You will test controls and make recommendations to the business to mitigate risk and strengthen our defenses.

As an integral member of the team, you will have a high level of exposure across the division partnering closely with senior business and risk office leaders, technology, compliance, legal, and Operational Risk Management.

In this role, you will:

  • Test regulatory and business controls across Financial Services to ensure Design and Operating effectiveness

  • Develop a deep understanding of business strategies, products, services, and risk profile;

  • Identify and assess the impact of the changing regulatory environment on business objectives and risk appetite;

  • Analyze data to proactively identify risks and trends and provide insights that support internal customers in decision-making;

  • Provide guidance and advice to business partners on implementing risk policies and programs;

  • Drive collaboration between the risk, compliance, legal, and other business support functions;

  • Ensure independent escalation of risk management gaps, issues, and concerns to executive management and when appropriate, the Board of Directors, including emerging risks and regulatory focus areas;

  • Identify opportunities to improve risk management practices and develop solutions to perfect risk management, eliminate waste, and deliver an exceptional customer experience

  • Drive containment and remediation of process breakdowns in conjunction with compliance, legal and business process teams

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent certification

  • At least 2 years of experience in project, process, program, or risk management

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or military experience

  • 2+ yearsof control testing experience

  • 2+ years of experience in presenting to senior leadership

  • 4+ years of experience in project, process, program, or risk management

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Plano, TX: $86,000 - $98,200 for Sr. Risk Associate

**Role Description**
The results of the CRA are utilized to drive monitoring and testing activities and to prioritize Compliance and other resources as new emergent risks are identified.
This role will include conducting compliance risk assessments of certain U.S. legal entities in the role of subject matter expert ("SME") as well as managing other SMEs outside of the CRA team in their conduct of compliance risk assessments for the legal entities they cover (primarily non-U.S. entities). The role requires leading workshops with 1st line of defense ("1LOD") and Compliance and other 2nd line of defense ("2LOD") subject matter experts to assess relevant compliance risks and controls.
The scope of this function will encompass SMBC Group's Americas Division, inclusive of U.S. broker dealer and registered swap dealer; SMBC Group's wholesale and retail banking operations; U.S. and LATAM representative offices; Grand Cayman Branch; Canada Branch; Brazilian banking and trading subsidiary; and Mexican non-bank leasing affiliate.
The candidate should have a track record of successfully managing projects as well as a strong risk management / internal control mindset to assess compliance risks and controls. **Role Objectives**

+ Help develop risk dashboards designed to identify the regulatory compliance risk profile on an ongoing basis.
+ Support the integration of the CRA results with the activities of the Compliance Department, including with respect to documenting key controls as well as driving monitoring and testing plans.
**Qualifications and Skills**
+ Bachelor's Degree required; JD or MBA is a strong plus (but not required).
+ Minimum of 15 years of prior regulatory, compliance, project management and/or risk management experience.
+ Experience managing projects, creating project plans, tracking statuses, and reporting issues to management.

**The Role at a Glance**
As the Internal Controls Consultant, you will provide subject matter expertise on design and effectiveness of financial and operational controls for various vendor services. You will partner with internal and external stakeholders and auditors to ensure the control environment aligns with the service vendor audit program. You will develop and execute on more complex audit testing to evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of operations and controls, reliability of SOC-1 reporting, and compliance with applicable law. You will also provide control expertise, risk assessment analysis, and implement risk mitigation recommendations for complex projects, processes, and major financial and operational control initiatives. **What you'll be doing**
+ You will partner with senior management to strengthen the control environment by establishing complex action plans to address financial & operational control deficiencies. You will track and monitor progress against these action plans to ensure timely risk mitigation resolution.
+ You will act as the business unit SOC-1 program owner ensuring accurate control inventories and control owners are documented and lead/manage interactions between external auditors and internal control owners / subject matter experts.
+ You will manage report development, review, and issuance; manage report validation and distribution process; and maintain all business records.
+ You will act as the Internal Audit liaison for the business units by ensuring business engagement, responsiveness to audit requests, issue management, communication management, and management action plan execution.
+ You will act as the Privacy Office Liaison - Group Protection business unit Privacy Officer coordinator.
+ You will serve as subject matter expert for Group Protection business areas to anticipate and address operational risks.
+ You will provide subject matter expertise to team members and internal/external stakeholders on complex assignments and projects. You will provide direction to build and enhance the capabilities within the business.
**What we're looking for**
_Must-haves:_
+ 3-5+ years of experience with SOX and/or financial/operation controls or other control environment experience within a compliance or audit team that directly aligned to the specific responsibilities of this position.
+ 4 Year/Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Information Technology or equivalent work experience (4 years of experience in lieu of Bachelor's)
_Nice-to-haves:_
+ License/Designations: CPA and/or CFE
+ Direct vendor management and/or risk management experience
+ NAIC general knowledge
+ Experience creating audit or regulatory work papers
+ Ability to identify and recommend process improvements

The pay range for this position is $69,000 - $24,600 with **anticipated pay for new hires between the minimum and midpoint of the range** and could vary above and below the listed range as permitted by applicable law. Pay is based on non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to work experience, education, location, licensure requirements, proficiency and qualifications required for the role. The base pay is just one component of Lincoln's total rewards package for employees. In addition, the role may be eligible for the Annual Incentive Program, which is discretionary and based on the performance of the company, business unit and individual.
