**What will you do?**
+ Record status of Life Safety Equipment (LSE) inspections throughout campus as needed on monthly basis
+ Record supply levels, supply stocking and condition of safety equipment that may need repair, maintenance or replacement
+ Examine stocking and supplies for expiration dates in safety cabinets and other LSE locations
+ Maintaining accurate records of inspection dates for all locations for each month
+ Perform on-site program replenishments and disbursements.
+ Record usage of safety supplies and order replenishment requests
+ Perform stockroom duties to maintain, neat/orderly receipts, put-away, stock rotation, cycle counts, expediting, and other functions to meet requirements of your position
+ Perform equipment verifications, measurements and calibrations following customer and manufacturers protocols
+ Promote a safe work environment through various safety initiatives within functional area
+ Participate in individual or group projects that can include, cost savings analysis, learning groups, writing job training methods, and leading team meetings
+ Maintain safety awareness, by maintaining and authoring Work Instructions, assisting with Job Hazard Assessments, and performing PPE assessments
+ Provide technical expertise and training to ULS staff
+ Follow procedures as outlined by Best Practices, SOP's & work instructions. Take direction from Site Supervisor regarding daily duties.
+ Independently makes decisions and uses available resources to meet customer requirements.
+ Analyzes/maintains/reconciles various customer reports to ensure requirements are met.
+ Shows skill at collecting, communicating and explaining job or site specific performance metrics
+ Communicates any customer issues or potential problems

**Education:**
+ High school diploma or equivalent required.

**Experience:**
+ 2 years of related experience within a laboratory setting is helpful; experience in GLP/GMP environment preferred

**Working Conditions:**

**Compensation and Benefits**
The hourly pay range estimated for this position based in California is 18.30- 27.45.

Essential Functions:
+ O2, pressurization and environmental experience with: P-8, 737, or other relevant aircraft.

+ Certified to operate self-propelled vehicles such as forklifts, scissor lifts, boom lifts, aircraft support equipment and towing vehicles

Position Summary
We are seeking a qualified Electrical Safety Engineer to lead the review, approval, and safety validation of electrical systems related to equipment set-up, design, and installation. This role ensures that all equipment installations meet applicable codes, standards, and project specifications before energization. The Electrical Safety Engineer will collaborate closely with design teams, OEM vendors, contractors, and internal stakeholders to maintain compliance and ensure safe operations throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and Installation Review:
- Review and approve electrical system designs, schematics, and installation plans for new equipment.
- Ensure compliance with NFPA 70 (NEC), NFPA 70E, IEEE standards, and relevant local/ codes.
- Perform design hazard analysis and validate grounding, overcurrent protection, and fault current coordination.
- Equipment Set-Up and Buy-Off:
- Witness and approve equipment set-up, terminations, control systems integration, and power-up activities.
- Authorize energization and commissioning of equipment after confirming compliance with safety and technical standards.
- Serve as the final authority on safe-to-energize status and issue electrical safety sign-off documentation.
- Installation Oversight and Field Verification:
- Perform on-site inspections of electrical installations (panels, disconnects, cable trays, raceways, etc.).
- Coordinate with OEMs and contractors to resolve non-conformances and track punch list items to closure.
- Verify that Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) devices, warning labels, and arc flash boundaries are correctly installed.
- Risk Mitigation and Safety Leadership:
- Lead or support incident investigations related to electrical systems.
- Evaluate and approve temporary power and grounding setups during construction.
- Support arc flash and short-circuit study reviews, ensuring labels and PPE requirements are implemented.
- Documentation and Compliance:
- Maintain records of inspections, approvals, deviations, and field changes.
- Support EHS audits and regulatory inspections by providing electrical safety documentation and responses.
- Update electrical safety procedures and commissioning checklists as needed.
Work Environment
- Industrial/manufacturing environment with active construction zones.

Key Responsibilities
- Design and Installation Review:
- Review and approve electrical system designs, schematics, and installation plans for new equipment.
- Ensure compliance with NFPA 70 (NEC), NFPA 70E, IEEE standards, and relevant local/national codes.
- Perform design hazard analysis and validate grounding, overcurrent protection, and fault current coordination.
- Equipment Set-Up and Buy-Off:
- Witness and approve equipment set-up, terminations, control systems integration, and power-up activities.
- Authorize energization and commissioning of equipment after confirming compliance with safety and technical standards.
- Serve as the final authority on safe-to-energize status and issue electrical safety sign-off documentation.
- Installation Oversight and Field Verification:
- Perform on-site inspections of electrical installations (panels, disconnects, cable trays, raceways, etc.).
- Coordinate with OEMs and contractors to resolve non-conformances and track punch list items to closure.
- Verify that Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) devices, warning labels, and arc flash boundaries are correctly installed.
- Risk Mitigation and Safety Leadership:
- Lead or support incident investigations related to electrical systems.
- Evaluate and approve temporary power and grounding setups during construction.
- Support arc flash and short-circuit study reviews, ensuring labels and PPE requirements are implemented.
- Documentation and Compliance:
- Maintain records of inspections, approvals, deviations, and field changes.
- Support EHS audits and regulatory inspections by providing electrical safety documentation and responses.
- Update electrical safety procedures and commissioning checklists as needed.
- Industrial/manufacturing environment with active construction zones.
- Field-based role with regular site walks and inspection duties.
- Must be comfortable using PPE and working around live systems (with proper lockout procedures).

- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical safety engineering, commissioning, or installation of industrial equipment.
- Strong knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E, OSHA standards, and applicable codes (e.g., UL, IEC, IEEE).
- Experience with electrical system analysis tools and construction document review.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or Certified Electrical Safety Compliance Professional (CESCP) preferred.
- Strong communication, documentation, and field coordination skills.

Who we are looking for:
We are seeking a highly experienced and technically proficient EHSS Senior Engineer, Equipment Safety to lead and support safety initiatives related to manufacturing equipment and processes. This role is critical in ensuring that all equipment meets or exceeds internal and regulatory safety standards, particularly during the launch of new vehicle models. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in equipment safety, a strong background in automotive or industrial manufacturing, and a proactive approach to risk mitigation and continuous improvement.

- Develop and implement technical safety specifications for new and existing manufacturing equipment.
- Review and approve equipment design features to ensure compliance with applicable safety standards (e.g., OSHA, ANSI, ISO, NFPA, RIA).
- Lead safety buy-off processes for new equipment and tooling during vehicle model launches.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Maintenance, Operations, OpEx, and Quality to integrate safety into equipment design and operation.
- Conduct risk assessments, hazard analyses, and safety validations for automated and manual systems.
- Champion safety culture by mentoring junior engineers and promoting best practices in equipment safety.
- Drive incident investigations related to equipment and machinery, identifying root causes and corrective actions.
- Stay current with evolving safety regulations and technologies to ensure continuous compliance and innovation.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Safety Engineering, or a related field is required. Advanced degree is preferred.
- Experience: 8+ years of experience in EHSS or equipment safety engineering within a manufacturing or industrial environment, preferably in the automotive or heavy duty vehicle sector.
- Certifications: Professional certifications, such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or TÜV Functional Safety Certification, are highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of machinery safety standards (e.g., ISO 13849, ANSI B11 series, OSHA 1910, RIA, NFPA).
- Proven experience with equipment commissioning, validation, and safety buy-off processes.
- Proven experience with PLCs, robotics, automation systems, and their safety integration.
- Technically proficient in interpreting drawings and schematics to support effective engineering solutions.
- Passion for continuous improvement, innovation, and building safe, sustainable manufacturing systems.
- Highly adaptable and proactive, excelling in fast-paced start-up and new model launch environments.
- Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills, with experience leading cross-functional teams and managing stakeholders.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Must have the ability to travel, both domestic and international (up to 50%).
- Must have the ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
- Must have the ability to stand, walk, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.
