HKS Atlanta is seeking a talented Project Manager to join our Life Science/Education team.A primary managerial position in a specific project and shares responsibility for project successes. Recognized ability to impact revenue and growth. Manages the firm's resources (people, processes and tools) and assignments with proficiency, fluency and aptitude. Teaches and mentors staff and effectively embodies and expresses the firm's values and mission.
Responsibilities:
- Acts as a primary client relationship for respective project, building and strengthening connections through a comprehensive understanding of their project mission, goals, policies, needs and progress
- Manages the execution and delivery of implementation documents through all phases of a project, including post-occupancy evaluation and sharing/harvesting lessons learned and project impact
- Collaborates on the design process including programming client needs, conceptual and schematic design, design development, document preparation and construction administration
- Coordinates project team interaction both internally and all other project participants
- Manages the project team in collaboration with other disciplines to establish design solutions that can be technically implemented within the constraints of the project goals, budgets, available time and within local ordinances and codes
- May lead client presentations and public hearings as needed
- Monitors project to anticipate potential risks and collaborates with the PIC, legal team and client to resolve issues
- Holds project team responsible for detailed code and zoning analysis, performance analysis and deliverables on HKS standards, best practices and quality expectations
- Collaborates in project meeting management, including scheduling, determining meeting purpose, preparing agendas and meeting report and maintaining action items log on regular basis
- Attends on-site visits and field reviews as necessary
- Actively invests in the professional development of staff through mentoring, performance management and career planning
- Develops, recognizes, recruits and grows diverse talent
- Resolves conflict effectively and encourages a healthy team environment
- Assists PIC/PM with the development and management of project job costs, budget and resourcing projections
- Collaborates with PIC/PM on project financial performance, such as confirming invoices are paid current before issuing documents
- Understands fundamental accounting principles and the project accounting process
- Collaborates in and may be responsible for delivering a project on defined budget requirements
- Builds, updates and executes project schedule assuring deliverables are completed on time and aligned with the budgeted labor; recalibrates as necessary
- Maintains accountability to project plan and planned utilization rate
- Understands contract and recognizes additional services needed
- May participate in the pursuit and marketing of potential projects
- Supports PIC and may lead the business development process by identifying new opportunities, marketing current clients for repeat business and assisting with proposals, budgets and schedules
Qualifications:
- Accredited professional degree in Architecture or equivalent in education or experience
- Architectural Registration strongly preferred
- Typically 8+ years of experience
- Sustainable design accreditation preferred
- Firsthand and sustained experience in all phases of architectural design and construction
- Familiarity in the capability and benefits of architectural and performance analytical software such as Revit, AutoCAD, 3D modeling, parametric design and performance analysis software preferred
- Experience in MS Office Suite, including Microsoft Project and Microsoft Teams preferred
- Advanced knowledge of sustainability and integrated design guidelines
- Advanced knowledge of architectural building systems and QA/QC process
- Advanced knowledge of building codes, constructability and accessibility guidelines
- Experience in logistics management
- Strong presentation skills
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work on multiple projects at the same time
- Ability to manage team with diplomatic and collaborative leadership style which puts value on relationships and collaboration, both internal and external

Position Qualifications:

We are currently searching for an Associate Principal to join our team focused on planning and designing exciting spaces in our higher education, science and research market group. The successful candidate will work together with architects, engineers, and other design professionals as part of a collaborative interdisciplinary team. In the role of Associate Principal for our Education & Science (EdSci) practice, you will help guide the overall direction of the EdSci sector in the Texas market and surrounding area and be part of a dynamic and growing Higher Education and Science team in Texas. The successful candidate must possess the drive, skillset, and charisma needed to develop a client base and to augment an unrivaled reputation for the core EdSci Team throughout the region.
The role includes a variety of duties ranging from engaging in business development, leading pursuits, and directing project teams. Critical to this role is a commitment to developing and nurturing strong client relationships, beginning with pre-positioning activities and continuing through project execution. These client relationships will be essential to creating opportunities and maintaining HDR's position for future work.
Project types include learning and teaching environments, research and development facilities for academic, institutional, government entities, and corporate science projects where clients are developing the latest technology and products for propelling humanity forward. Projects may include a variety of teaching, research, testing, and pre-production facilities in the areas of life sciences, physical sciences, biocontainment, animal research, public health, and related support facilities. Project opportunities are largely within the Texas market, but may extend to neighboring states and potentially abroad due to relationships, particular expertise, project needs, etc.
In the role of Associate Principal, we'll count on you to:
- Contribute to the leadership and visioning for the EdSci sector in the Texas region
- Develop capture plans and initiate relationships with key new clients
- Maintain an active and visible presence in the EdSci sector
- Develop qualifications and proposals for EdSci pursuits
- Contribute to or leading pursuit go/no-go and strategy discussions
- Contribute to or direct interview strategies and implementation
- Prepare and negotiate project contracts
- Serve as Principal-in-Charge and/or Project Manager on projects as appropriate
- Maintain project oversight throughout execution, including conformance to client expectations for technical/quality, financial performance, and schedule adherence
- Provide mentorship, guidance, and support to project teams
- In collaboration with EdSci subject matter experts, and independently when appropriate, develop abstracts and presentations for industry conferences, seminars, workshops, and other similar events promoting program messages, research, project outcomes, lessons learned, trends, etc. related to facility design
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture or closely related field
- A minimum of 10 years experience
- Registered Architect
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project Schedule)
- Excellent written and communication skills
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficient in use of Autodesk Revit and familiarity with related tools and process
- Demonstrated graphic presentation skills
- Strong knowledge of codes and good planning skills

Position OverviewHDR is seeking a Project Manager to join our Education, Science, and Community Architecture Practice. The Project Manager will:
- Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary teams throughout the project lifecycle (from development to close-out).
- Manage all aspects of small to medium complex projects or routine large projects.
- Handle multiple small to medium projects simultaneously.
- Collaborate directly with Principals to develop and maintain client relationships.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The University of Saint Mary is seeking Social and Behavioral Sciences Adjunct Instructors to teach in the Prison Education Program. Content areas include: Sociology and Psychology to meet the General Education requirements offered within the Prison Education Programs. All courses are taught in-person. Faculty must be credentialed in the area of instruction and must be able to pass a background check.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Teach classes in-person as assigned at one of the Prison facilities.
- Prepare syllabi and deliver curriculum appropriate for the course assigned
- Maintain effective and timely student assessment and feedback
- Manage and foster an inclusive educational environment to serve all learners
- Maintain student attendance records in accordance with university policy
- Submit mid-term and final grades on time
- Demonstrate professionalism with students, faculty, staff, and administration
- Timely attendance at all required training and meetings
- Complete all required training, including training on LMS
- Maintain expertise in current teaching and discipline technologies.
- Perform other duties as required.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Master’s level degree in the content field or master’s degree + 18 graduate credits in content area
- Sociology
- Psychology
- Minimum of three years teaching at the college level required.
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills with students, faculty, staff, and administrators.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Commitment to prison rehabilitation.
- Philosophically aligned with the mission and values of USM
- Experience working in a prison preferred.
- Ability to pass Department of Corrections/KBI background check required.
