**POSITION PURPOSE**
Participates in the planning, preparation, assembly and service of a variety of cuisines. Some or all of the cooking may be in a venue where facets of the work are visible and may include interaction with guests.
**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
+ Prepare menu items, including proteins, using various methods such as slicing, carving, roasting, steaming, frying, marinating, grilling, sautéing and braising.
+ Marinate, grill, roast, griddle and carve proteins; steam vegetables and starches.
+ Review menus and order lists and consult with culinary leadership on the tasks for the day.
+ Perform display cooking to customer order, plating according to established standards and answering questions about ingredients, recipes and pricing.
+ Organize work to meet daily production goals and service needs.
+ Guide the work food service staff.
+ Monitor prepared foods for compliance with Washington State health code regulations, including taking and recording food temperatures before the food leaves the production area.
+ Participate in cleaning the kitchen's tables and equipment using sanitizing solutions as needed.
+ Ensure that all foods used for the meal are properly wrapped, dated, labeled and stored before the close of the shift.
+ Ensure that all items in walk-in and in other storage areas are properly labeled and rotated correctly. Work with other staff members to ensure that this is being completed.
+ Maintain records of foods produced, foods wasted, and any recipe adjustments for the culinary leadership.
+ Inspect food service equipment to determine proper care, use and operation; report malfunctions to the culinary leadership.
+ Ensure that security and safety requirements are met; follow up with staff and supervisor on any issues.
+ Consult with culinary leadership to address requests to accommodate dietary restrictions.
+ Perform related duties as requested. **POSITION DIMENSIONS** These are 11.5-month cyclic positions. These positions are located at various UW Dining venues. Schedules may be changed with two weeks' notice. **MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS**
+ Possession of, or eligible to obtain a Washington State Food Worker Card within two weeks of employment AND one year of experience preparing and serving food and maintaining clean work area; or equivalent education/experience. **SPECIFIC POSITION REQUIREMENTS**
+ Using production kitchen equipment, including troubleshooting of simple operational problems.
+ Preparing menu items from scratch using recipes and a variety of cooking techniques.

POSITION PURPOSE
The Cook 2 guides, supports and actively participates in all aspects of production and service of a variety of foods/cuisines, including cutting meat and seafood, making sauces and/or cooking proteins. During the service phase of the workday, the Cook Lead prepares menu items to customer order and provides direction to the staff who would be involved in assembling foods, plating, grilling and performing the sales transactions.

Reporting to the Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Programs, the Grants and Contracts Manager is a key member of the Dean's Office research administration team, providing pre- and post-award support for a dedicated group of faculty within the School of Pharmacy. This position plays a critical role in identifying funding opportunities, increasing grant submissions, and managing the day-to-day administration of awarded grants and contracts.
The role requires a high degree of independent judgment, strong attention to detail, and the ability to balance multiple competing priorities and deadlines. The Grants and Contracts Manager serves as a strategic partner to faculty, ensuring timely and compliant submissions, accurate budget management, and proactive resolution of administrative challenges throughout the award lifecycle.
**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** **Pre-Award Management (45%)**
+ Manage the preparation and submission of all competitive and non-competitive grant proposals to granting agencies, including multi-university and multi-department proposals.
+ Manage the pre-award activities for all submissions by performing timely and accurate proposal and contract development in accordance with all university, sponsor, and school requirements working with the Senior grants manager.
+ Provide PIs with clear and customer-oriented explanations of School, University, and sponsor processes, acting as the initial point of contact for PIs.
+ Advise faculty (principal investigators or PIs), graduate students, and postdoctoral researchers on sponsor requirements particularly for specialized program announcements and non-federal sponsors.
+ Prepare the budget for sponsor submission
+ Prepare internal documents such as Facilities and Administration waivers and cost share
+ Assist with progress report preparation and submission, maintenance of biosketch, current and pending/Other and other proposal and grant-related documents
+ Prepare and submit Just-In-Time and time of award documentation in collaboration with PIs
+ Interface with the University Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP), Grants and Contracts Accounting (GCA), and funding agencies (NIH, NSF, foundations, pharma).
+ Coordinate with subrecipients/subcontractors to ensure that proposal requirements and timelines are met. Answer questions and provide guidance of a similar nature as provided to the UW PI.
+ Work closely with sponsor agencies, central UW offices, faculty, and school staff to ensure both that the School follows all sponsors, UW, federal, state, and industry policies and that grant administrative deliverables are being accomplished, escalating to Senior Grants Manager as needed.
+ Develop complex budgets and other administrative sections of grant and contract proposals.
+ Monitor, review, communicate, integrate, and implement complex federal, state, foundation, and University regulations and policies into SOP grants and contracts to ensure compliance.
+ Provide technical advice and interpretation of governmental and foundation regulations as well as University policies and procedures to Principal Investigators (PIs), researchers, related support staff, and third parties.
+ Facilitate timely adherence to sponsor deadlines such as proposal deadlines, progress report deadlines, and requesting extensions, supplements, or revisions as needed. Deliver required components related to administration and operations aspects in a timely manner and ensure that other teams are informed of relevant deadlines and requirements. **Post-Award Grant Management and Oversight (50%)**
+ Use multiple financial and record keeping systems to perform extraction, analysis, forecasts, and communicate progress of sponsored projects and operations.
+ Meet with principal investigators monthly to present and report on the financial status for each project; present and discuss potential problem areas.
+ Create new and modify existing financial report products to meet PI/budget owner needs. Provide ad hoc reports to faculty and School managers as requested.
+ Manage effort tracking, certifications and reporting; ensuring minimum compliance for percentage effort changes by sponsor rules.
+ Assist faculty in evaluating personnel levels and develop individualized funding plans and other partially funded students and staff.
+ Manage costing allocations for all faculty, staff and students funded on research grants and contracts, communicating to the HR team any allocation changes.
+ Consulting with the senior grants manager serves as a contact between agencies, central offices and faculty.
+ Provide training to faculty, staff and students at the School concerning post-award management.
+ Ensure all awards are reconciled regularly. Perform audits to ensure accuracy and compliance with UW Cost Principles for all transaction types.
+ Interface with the University Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP), Grants and Contracts Accounting (GCA), and funding agencies (NIH, NSF, foundations, pharma).

+ Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Finance, or a related field and minimum of three years of research administration experience, including budgeting, compliance, and financial oversight within higher education, nonprofit, or government organizations. **Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration** **ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:**
+ Familiarity with federal sponsors and associated guidelines, including NIH, NSF, and USAID.

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** **Budget Management and Analysis - (60%)**
+ Conduct monthly review and reconciliation of non-sponsored budgets. Update budget spreadsheets for actual expenses and projections. Monitor expenditures for allowability, appropriateness, initiate cost transfers. Ensure budgets are maintained in accordance with best practices at all levels.
+ Support effort accounting for faculty and staff on non-sponsored funds, including charges to internal budgets and shared projects with external departments

In collaboration with the Experiential Education (EE) team, this position is responsible for managing operations for practice-based learning experiences of the PharmD curriculum, introducing patient-centered and operational on-site EE opportunities to students. This position manages operations for EE placements, including primary management of onboarding, scheduling, placement of experiences, and tracking completion of student assignments This position schedules and coordinates student placements with rotation sites, supervised by preceptors; advises students on academic progress matters and EE opportunities, policies, and procedures; troubleshoots emergent issues involving students and preceptors; leads the learning environment and site quality program; and manages relationships between the School and clinical training sites. Additional responsibilities include monitoring and reporting on student completion of objectives and competencies and additional responsibilities as assigned by the EE administrative lead. This position reports to the Director of Operations for EE, a unit within the Office of Professional Pharmacy Education (OPPE).
**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** Operations Management (70%)
- Manage operations for EE placements, including primary management of onboarding, scheduling, placement of experiences, and tracking completion of student assignments
- Manage student records related to experiential learners, including monitoring preparation and completion. Monitor student progress; follow up with students who are not making satisfactory progress or are experiencing other issues. Coordinate with EE team, and triage and report as needed
- Manage the process of onboarding and compliance for incoming students and students completing experiences at affiliate practice sites
- Monitor all relevant requirements including prerequisite records, including immunization status, first aid/CPR certification, submission of forms, and attendance at required orientations, including scheduling trainings.
- Develop and manage compliance and onboarding timelines
- Use CastleBranch, CORE, and CPNW with full functionality to maintain information on students, sites, and preceptors and to generate relevant reports and coordinate student?account creation, monitoring, maintenance, archiving, and deletion.
- Manage process of developing, maintaining, and updating Affiliation Agreements and Memoranda of Understanding, working with experiential site representatives and the Attorney General's UW office as needed.
- Suggest and assist with revising policies and procedures related to practice experiences in collaboration with the EE team and the Assistant Dean for Professional Affairs and Practice
- Craft and deliver timely and engaging communications for students, preceptors, and site administrators. Handle initial communications from students and preceptors, managing or triaging as needed.
- Assist with operational leadership for EE. Identify areas for improvement in EE, and make recommendations for changes in operations
- Assist with updating course policies, competencies, and other documents related to pharmacy practice experiences
- Work with EE team to identify outstanding practice preceptors for award recognition. Participate in the annual review of practice sites and preceptors for quality assurance, identify areas where attention is needed, and ensure appropriate follow-up is completed
Student, Preceptor and Site Support (30%)
- Monitor student progress in EE and collaborate in developing EE Completion schedules for students who experience program delays during the program in consultation with the EE team and Academic Affairs
- Assist with orienting students on EE through class presentations, one-on-one meetings, and written communication of technical aspects of EE operations
- Serve as back-up with recruiting new preceptors and orient them to practice experiences
- Advise and triage students and preceptors on assignment requirements and completion, and on issues arising during site practice experiences; troubleshoot and report issues as needed
- Communicate with the EE Team, Director of Student Affairs, Mental Health Liaison and Counselor, and appropriate stakeholders regarding time-sensitive and/or challenging situations involving students who need support
- Serve as back-up for representing the School & EE on regular visits to experiential sites
- Other duties as assigned
**MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS**
- Bachelor's degree in education, humanities, human resources, social work, social sciences, life science, business, communications, or a related field and two years of experience with program operations and/or project management.
