Amentum is seeking a Material Handler for a position on Kauai, HI. Supporting the Supply & Logistics Shipping & Receiving Department. Under guidance and supervision of the Supply Support Supervisor, personnel will assist in performing duties for the transportation office of shipping and receiving to include, storage, accountability, issue, property, property control and inventory.
Responsibilities Specific assignments and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following areas:
- Perform movement coordination, receipt, acceptance/rejection, packing, crating, handling, shipment consolidation, containerization, documentation, inspection, certification, and traffic management of all cargo shipments in support of Government requirements.
- Perform manifesting, checking, weighing, marking, and accounting of all out-bound shipments for water and air cargo transportation as required by military or commercial air.
- Conduct cargo tracing and tracking as required.
- Ensure hazardous materials and explosive shipments are properly packed, crated, marked, labeled, and certified by authorized personnel.
- Move equipment, material, and supply shipments to meet any required delivery dates or mission support deadlines.
- Provide clerical and administrative tasks within the Supply and Logistics Division.
- Must be capable of operating material handling equipment and forklift.
- Validate purchase request with purchase orders to validate packing lists and any other receipt documentation.
- Inspect all incoming freight and cargo.
- Compliance with ITAR regulations in reference to export control.
- Maintain files and records of small business reporting and contract/leases.
- Assigns purchase requisitions to Buyers/Purchasing Agents by commodity.
- Conducts inventories.
- Stores property for reutilization and long-term hold.
- Provide exceptional customer service.
- Coordinate and prepare monthly reports in accordance with established formats and deadlines.
- Performs all tasks in accordance with verbal and written instructions to the established standards.
- In addition to the above, performs other tasks as directed by the supervisor and/or Department Manager.
Additional Responsibilities
- Lifting, pushing/pulling 25-50 lbs.
- Work positions requirements: walking, standing, crawling, kneeling, cramped, sitting and work requiring repeated stooping
- Customer contact, confined work area, office laboratory, field assignment, and inclement weather.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School or equivalent.
- One year of Logistic Supply skillset with one year in shipping and receiving.
- Must have experience in Microsoft Office and database entry.
- Must have experience on Inventory management and accountability.
- Must be self-motivated and be able to work independently.
- Must possess great communication skills and customer service support.
- Must be capable of operating material handling equipment (MHE) to include forklift license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prefer Shipper's Declaration of Dangerous Goods Certifier, if not certified must be obtainable within a year of being hired.
- Prefer knowledge on basic warehouse layout and storage plan.
- Prefer experience with the transportation management of shipping and receiving.
Security Clearance
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance. Applicants selected either must currently possess a Secret clearance or will be subject to a US Government Security Investigation and must meet eligibility requirements to obtain clearance prior to commencement of employment and maintain a security clearance for access to classified information or Closed/Restricted Areas throughout duration of employment.
Compensation
The hourly rate for the position is $29.85 per hour. (Hourly rate set by CBA/SCA).

The Material Handler is responsible for supporting the shipping and receiving operations at RealTruck. Key duties include managing bills of lading (BOLs), loading and unloading trucks, stocking inventory, maintaining inventory control, and operating forklifts. This role also involves transporting materials via box truck between local RealTruck facilities (Old Hickory and Madison), with travel distances of less than 10 miles each way. A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are required.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM.
Core Functions:
- Efficiently moves material to and from point of use, ensuring product quality is maintained.
- Transports materials between local RealTruck warehouses using an automatic box truck (Old Hickory and Madison plants less than 10 miles apart)
- Receives and ships materials, handling relevant shipping related documents
- Maintain accurate inventory; conducts cycle counts; transfers product in WMS; investigates and resolves variances.
- Maintain a clean and safe workspace, other duties as assigned.
- Communicate effectively with all departments and supervisors/leads.
